Customer Reviews
Nice place. Very quiet little campground. Boat launch. Right off M37. Bonus it's right behind The Meat Shack. Some of the best smoked meat and fish I've ever had.
The campground was nice and clean. Fred was a very nice host. We were on lots 5, 6 and 7. My 80 yr old father unloaded his boat and pull up on bank temporarily and one of the seasonals that camped across from us came up just throwing the f bomb around and cussing him out. My 2 yr old was standing there also
I didn't have a stay because the staff made it so unpleasant that I felt uncomfortable staying the night. Their 5 mile an hour speed limit is too low for the standard car and being tracked down to my families campsite to be chastised, even after apologizing, completely soured my evening. Then as I was trying to leave yet another person gave me a hassle because I had to accelerate to get around a corner. Camping is supposed to be relaxing but having staff chastise me twice in 4 hours was just ridiculous. I was afraid to step off the campsite for fear of breaking one of the rules I had no idea about. I went there years ago with my family and it was fun but after this most recent experience I will not be back.
We have been coming here since our boys were young, I think our youngest was 5 when we started coming, he's 26 now. It is a great place to spend with family, very quiet off the road beautiful setting. Your still close to town if you need anything. Jones ice cream is in town and is the best. I highly recommend this place to stay,we love it and will continue to come back.
Stayed here last year and had a wonderful time. This year we brought our dogs. Everything changed. The seasonals put a target on our back and we were reprimanded twice within the first couple of hours. Worst experience of camping in my life. The owners and host are great people and the campground is pretty cool. We had a long weekend paid for and left this morning without launching my boat. Oh, and don't park in the wrong spot. The seasonals get very upset. They run the roost. Rules seem to be different for short term campers. We're were told and shown where where dogs could go in the water. It is on a path on the end of the property in the woods to get to it. Dogs can't be on the beach. But, a seasonal camper had their dog down there as we were leaving. I guess rules only apply to some. Update: Talked to Fred Sr. on Monday and he welcomed us back. He refunded our money and we had a very good conversation. Maybe we will have to try it again. Just not sure if I will bring my GSP's.
