Sparta is often referred to as the "Bicycling Capital of America," given its access to popular bike trails like the Elroy-Sparta State Trail, adding an extra layer of appeal for active campers.
A key aspect of Pine View Campground's location is its close relationship with Fort McCoy, a prominent U.S. Army installation. While it's important to note that the campground itself is accessible to the public, its proximity to the base means that visitors might experience the sounds of daily military routines, such as "taps and revelry," which some find adds a unique character to their stay. This location also implies good road accessibility, as areas near military installations are typically well-connected by state and local highways, ensuring a relatively smooth journey for campers arriving from various parts of Wisconsin and beyond.

For Wisconsin residents, Sparta is a manageable drive from major population centers like La Crosse, Madison, and Milwaukee, making Pine View an ideal destination for weekend trips or longer vacations. Customer Reviews
This place was amazing! My family and I love staying in the cabins. The camp host was friendly and helpful. He helped us with directions after we took a wrong turn. He also helped us get to our cabin. Recommended to have the riverfront if you get the chance to. My family and I are already talking about when we are going up there again.
Camped there 2yrs ago and it was great. big sites that are level with trees for shade, plus you can hear taps and revelry daily from the Base going back this June to enjoy again.
Awesome campground! Have stayed many times for hunting, fishing, and just a weekend get away. It is located on an army base, so be aware - the training weekends can be loud.
Awesome campground. Just had our second annual family camp there. So much to do. So much space in between. Awesome staff, very helpful especially Marcus. There’s something for everyone. If you don’t have the right camping unit, no worries they’ve got you covered! Prices are reasonable. We highly recommend! Keep up the good work everyone we appreciate you! If all campgrounds could be this well kept and thoughtful fellow campers! Camped in a 39ft 5th wheel full hook up sight Dropped a star….after 4 years, rental units are getting bad. No upkeep and falling apart, mice too. Front desk has changed. If you have your own rig you should be good.
*dog friendly My family and I have camped here a few times. The staff is very helpful and friendly. The first time we rented a camper on site and it was 10/10. There is a lot to do for families; the beach, kids play areas, mini golf, shuffle board, multiple parks, volleyball and basketball. My husband and I don’t have bicycles and we rented them for $20 for the day. They also rent canoes, kayaks etc. definitely worth visiting and we will be back a few more times this summer. PS: this is an active military base so there will be noise on occasion.
