Location and Accessibility
Pout & Trout Campground boasts an excellent, central location for users across Massachusetts. The official address is 94 River Rd, Rutland, MA 01543, USA. Rutland is a quintessential Central Massachusetts town, known for its scenic setting and proximity to larger population centers, making the campground highly accessible for a weekend trip or an extended stay.
Its geographical position makes it an ideal 'home base' for exploring the local area. For residents of Eastern or Western Massachusetts, the drive is manageable, quickly transporting you into a serene environment. Crucially, the campground is situated in a strategic spot between two major Central Massachusetts cities: Worcester and Leominster. This proximity means campers are just a short drive—approximately 20 to 30 minutes—from urban amenities, local attractions, dining, and shopping. For instance, Worcester offers cultural events, restaurants, and historical sites, while Leominster provides additional shopping and local entertainment options.
While the address places you directly along River Road, providing easy entry, local users should note that the internal roads within the campground are described as primitive and unpaved. This detail simply suggests taking your time while driving inside the park to ensure a comfortable journey to your site, a small trade-off for the natural, wooded setting.

I always enjoy visiting this campground! My cousin stays here seasonally, and it’s such a great spot. The pool is clean and perfect for relaxing on warm days, and the scenic views around the campground make it feel like a peaceful getaway. There’s even a convenient country store on site, which is super handy for little things you might need. Best of all, it’s a quiet, relaxing place to stay and perfect if you’re looking to unwind and enjoy nature. Definitely recommend checking it out!
Aug 25, 2025 · W B"Rooms"=sites. Sites are fairly large, level, decent privacy. Lots of shade if you want it, or open lots/sun if you want it. Roads are primitive/not paved, so you have to go slow/be careful. Not all loops have a bath house or laundromat. Activities are OK; some are kind of new/different. Yet they're missing some campground favorites, such as a Camp Olympics or site decorating contests/themed holidays. Camp store is pretty good. Pool is nice & clean. You're in a good spot between Worcester & Leominster to be able to hit local attractions/events. Price is good; can camp for a night or a season.

Aug 19, 2025 · Crystal BickfordI stayed at Pout and Trout last week during my thru hike of the Midstate Trail. It was such a relief to get a hot shower and be able to fully charge all of my electronics with an outlet right by my tent. The staff were super helpful too, and flexible about my arrival time which is really important when you're on foot! Highly recommend to hikers.
