River Forest Group Camping is located at 45700 River Forest Blvd, DeLand, FL 32720, USA. This address places it strategically within the Ocala National Forest, a vast and ecologically diverse area known for its numerous lakes, rivers, and natural springs. The campground's position on the shores of the St. Johns River, just across from DeLand, provides unparalleled access to this iconic Florida waterway. While it offers a serene, "out in nature" feel, it remains reasonably accessible from major population centers in Florida.

To reach the campground from DeLand, you would typically drive west on State Route 44, and after crossing the St. Johns River, turn right onto County Road 42, with the entrance to the campground on the right. While the entrance road might have some potholes, as noted by visitors, it is generally navigable even for large RVs, although parking closer to the gate might be necessary for very big rigs. The secluded nature of the location means that while you're immersed in nature, you're not too far from the charming city of DeLand, which offers dining, shopping, and cultural attractions, balancing outdoor adventure with convenient amenities.

Promotions or Special Offers:

As a group camping facility primarily reserved through Recreation.gov and managed within the Ocala National Forest system, River Forest Group Camping does not typically offer individual promotions in the way a commercial campground might. The pricing is usually a flat rate per night for the entire group site, regardless of the number of people up to its maximum capacity of 125 guests. Therefore, the "promotion" is inherently built into the group rate, making it cost-effective for large gatherings when the cost is split among participants. However, it's always advisable to check the Recreation.gov website for any federal park system-wide passes or discounts that might apply to entrance fees or specific reservation types, although such discounts are less common for dedicated group sites.

For specific inquiries about booking, availability, and the current group rate, contact the Ocala National Forest directly at the provided phone number. Any potential for a discount would likely be tied to specific organizational affiliations or very large, recurring bookings, which would need to be discussed directly with the forest service.

Very nice place. The camp host is wonderful. We are at a meetup for Senior women campers. Great place to hold a gathering. The road coming in could use the big potholes filled in, but you can get a big rig in here. You would just have to park close to the gate. The pavilion is very nice. It's screened in. There have been some bear sightings. Personally I haven't seen one, but they are around. The water for 🐠🐟🐠 is near the pavilion. The bear left a present with berry seeds in it on the ground, see picture.

Such a beautiful and amazing campsite along the St. John's river. The campground was so spacious, had an amazing dining pavilion with electricity and upgraded bathhouses. The campsite hosts Mitchell and Diane kept the grounds in fantastic shape and were so helpful during our stay. I highly recommend this site for your next group camping.

This is a really nice group campground. Your group will have the entire campground to yourselves. It's on the St. John's river. The bathrooms and showers are kept really clean by the hosts. The hosts are kind and helpful. There are areas covered with awesome large oak trees with plenty of shade. There are other areas wide open. The pavillion is screened in, has ceiling fans, and at least one electrical outlet. You may fill up a water tank, but not really a water hookup. There are water faucets throughout the campground. There are no hookups.
