Sheltowee RV Park & Cabins focuses on providing essential, high-quality services that cater directly to the needs of RV travelers and cabin guests, ensuring a comfortable and convenient stay.
-
Full Hookup RV Sites: A significant highlight is that all RV sites are full hookups, meaning they include water, sewer, and electric connections. This eliminates the need for frequent trips to dump stations and ensures maximum convenience for campers.
-
Accommodates Large Rigs: The park is specifically designed to be "big rig and bus friendly." Sites are long and wide, and the internal roads are set up to accommodate larger vehicles needing ample space to maneuver, which is a major plus for travelers with substantial RVs.
-
Well-Packed Gravel Sites and Roads: While the roads and sites are gravel, they are described as "well packed small gravel," which means they are not very dusty and are easy to walk on, avoiding the "ankle twister gravel" often found elsewhere.
-
Excellent Water Pressure: Guests consistently praise the good water pressure at the sites, ensuring a comfortable showering and water usage experience within their RVs.
-
Proper Sewer Hookups: The sewer hookups are noted as being "done correctly and at the right height," indicating a professional setup that makes waste disposal hassle-free.
-
Picnic Tables and Fire Pits: Each site comes with a picnic table, and many include a fire pit, allowing guests to enjoy outdoor meals and traditional campfires.
-
Firewood Included (for upgraded sites): Some upgraded spaces offer added perks like firewood included, enhancing the fire pit experience.
-
BBQ Grills (for upgraded sites): Certain upgraded sites also feature a BBQ grill, perfect for outdoor cooking.

Quiet and Peaceful Atmosphere: This is arguably the top highlight. The park is consistently described as "quiet" with "not a lot of children running around," appealing to those seeking a serene and relaxing environment. This makes it an ideal spot for adults or those simply looking for a tranquil retreat.
-
Big Rig Friendly Design: Its design explicitly accommodates very large RVs and buses. The generous length and width of sites, combined with intelligently designed roads, ensure easy maneuverability, which is a rare and highly valued feature for big rig owners.
-
Meticulously Maintained Grounds: The park is "very well kept," reflecting the owner's pride and dedication to cleanliness and upkeep. This attention to detail creates a pleasant and inviting atmosphere for all guests.
-
Upscale Feel Without Resort Prices: While it provides high-quality services and a well-maintained environment, it avoids the "fancy corporate resort" feel and associated high prices. It strikes a balance, offering an "upscale feel" within a "quiet small town RV park" setting.
-
Waterfront Views (Upgraded Sites): Certain upgraded sites offer beautiful views of a pond with ducks, adding a picturesque element to the camping experience and a sense of connection to nature.
-
Thoughtful Site Amenities: The inclusion of well-placed picnic tables, fire pits, and in some upgraded sites, wooden Adirondack chairs facing the fire pit, and even included firewood, demonstrates a thoughtful approach to guest comfort and enjoyment.
-
Convenient Local Access: Despite its peaceful setting, the park offers practical access to a Dollar General within walking distance and is close to Cedar Run Lake and the vast recreational opportunities of the Daniel Boone National Forest.
-
Absence of Overhead Obstructions: Notably, there are "no long hanging trees or branches to worry about," a crucial detail for RVers with tall rigs, ensuring easy parking and preventing potential damage.
While specific, ongoing promotions are best confirmed directly with Sheltowee RV Park & Cabins, RV parks often have a range of pricing structures and potential discounts that could appeal to local Kentuckians and travelers alike. Given that it's a relatively new and well-maintained park with an owner who takes pride in the property, common offerings might include:
-
Weekly or Monthly Rates: Many RV parks provide reduced rates for longer stays. If you're looking for an extended peaceful retreat or a base for exploring the Morehead area and Daniel Boone National Forest, inquiring about weekly or monthly discounts could be beneficial.
-
Seasonal Pricing: Rates might vary depending on the season, with potential lower prices during off-peak times (e.g., late fall, winter, or early spring) when demand is lower. This could be an excellent opportunity for locals to enjoy the tranquility at a reduced cost.
-
Referral Programs: Some parks offer incentives for returning customers or for referring new guests. It's always worth asking if they have any such programs.
-
Loyalty Programs: For repeat visitors, a loyalty program might be available, offering discounts on future stays after a certain number of nights or visits.
Based on reviews, it's important to note that the park currently does not have a general store or bathhouse. While this is a preference for some campers who appreciate the quiet and full hookups at their site, it also means there aren't typically "store promotions" to expect. Customer Reviews
We are currently staying at this campground and 10/10 in our book. It’s quiet, not a lot of children running around (which we love) the campground is very well kept and the owner is such a nice guy. No store or bathhouse but we don’t mind, it’s a full hook up.
This is a great new RV park. We travel full time and have a very large fifth wheel (43 feet with dually truck) and we are always cautious of little parks in rural areas because you just never know what to expect. We booked based upon the positive reviews and photos and we are so glad we did! The spots are big enough for any sized rig (big rig and bus friendly). While it’s a small park, the roads are set up to accommodate larger rigs needing space to maneuver around. Sites are long and wide and have full hookups. Roads and sites are gravel, but it’s well packed small gravel (not very dusty and not ankle twister gravel which we appreciate). We had site 15 which was an upgraded space with solar lights and a waterfront (pond and ducks) view. Site also had picnic table, wooden Adirondack chairs facing a fire pit (with firewood included) and a bbq. Good water pressure, sewer hookups done correctly and at the right height. Quiet and the owner takes pride in the upkeep of the park. No long hanging trees or branches to worry about and easy road signage for entrance. It’s right off of a highway with some road noise but nothing that should deter you away, it’s a beautiful wooded setting with a Dollar General within walking distance and close to Cedar Run Lake and Daniel Boone National Forest. They also have cabins you can rent. No amenities or clubhouse so you get the quiet small town RV park feel, but it’s also well done, well maintained and has an upscale feel without being a fancy corporate resort. Highly recommend this park.
Wonderful campground! Stayed here for the first time. Very up to date, fish ponds are stocked. Had the pleasure meeting the owner. Wonderful man named Trip. My wife and I are new RV'ers. Trip took the time from his mowing to come to us to help get the camper backed in and set up. Campground is very safe, no loud or disturbing noises. Great place to come to and relax. I give this place 100 stars!
Absolutely beautiful new park! Super friendly owner and very accommodating with our special request. Very quiet and you feel secluded in your RV site, they are spaced wonderfully so that you are not right on top of your neighbor. We hope to return sometime in the future.
Wonderful spot! Beautiful grounds, quiet but close to highway, nice amount of space on the sites and beautiful water views! Tripp (owner) was awesome with accommodating us last minute all by text. Would definitely visit again!
