Introduction / Overview
For New Jersey families and RV enthusiasts, finding a local escape that combines the tranquility of the countryside with a full suite of amenities is the ultimate goal. Sun Retreats Pleasant Acres Farm, nestled in the scenic rural hills of Sussex County, offers just that. Located in the picturesque Northwest corner of the state, this destination provides a unique, farm-themed RV park experience that sets it apart from typical woodland campgrounds. It caters to those looking for full-hookup convenience while immersing themselves in a tranquil, agricultural setting.
Sun Retreats Pleasant Acres Farm, formerly known as Pleasant Acres Farm RV Resort, is built on a historically working farm, meaning the agricultural charm is not merely a theme but an integral part of the visitor experience. While it is true that the resort has a history spanning many years, offering a mix of established charm and ongoing evolution, it provides a variety of accommodations beyond traditional RV sites, including charming cottages and vacation rentals. This versatility makes it an excellent option for New Jersey residents—whether they own a fifth wheel, a motorhome, or simply want to rent a cozy cottage for a weekend getaway. The core of the experience revolves around a family-focused atmosphere, a range of planned activities, and the unique opportunity to encounter friendly farm animals and experience country life right here in the Garden State. It’s an ideal setting to unplug, enjoy the beautiful views of the Kittatinny Mountains, and bond with the family without traveling far from home.
Location and Accessibility
Sun Retreats Pleasant Acres Farm is strategically located to serve the New Jersey and Tri-State area population, offering a quick retreat into the mountains of Sussex County. The park is situated near the northernmost tip of New Jersey, placing it firmly in the heart of the state’s agricultural and mountain region.
The official address is:
61 Dewitt Rd, Sussex, NJ 07461, USA
This location places the resort in a wonderfully rural setting, yet it remains relatively accessible from Central and North Jersey metropolitan areas. While the secluded, country nature of the location is a major draw, prospective visitors, especially those navigating large RVs or pulling 37-foot fifth wheels, should be prepared to navigate the region's natural geography. The journey into this mountainous corner of New Jersey may involve steeper, curvy roads. This is a common characteristic of the beautiful terrain in this region, which contributes to the outstanding scenic views and sense of escape but requires careful driving for larger rigs. Despite the occasional driving challenge, the payoff is a peaceful, quiet location at the end of a dead-end road, surrounded by farmlands and close to major outdoor landmarks. The resort is just a short drive from High Point State Park, offering locals immediate access to New Jersey's highest elevation and miles of scenic hiking trails. Convenient access to local markets, farm stands like Green Valley Farm, and a new ShopRite supermarket ensures that practical needs are easily met while enjoying the rural atmosphere.

To get here, you have to navigate some steep and curvy hills. Very hard to manage, when pulling a 37 5th wheel. This campground is nothing like the website pictures. It's old, outdated, and rundown. Definitely not worth the price. Will not be back, and won't visit any other sun outdoors rv park.
Sep 16, 2025 · Tina BohleyWe stayed at Pleasant Acres Campground. The campground was very nice. It is in the country. There were some nice activities for kids if you have them. The services were very lacking though. Limited bathrooms. The showers were small and not cleaned often. Once you check in the staff does not really care if you need anything.
May 05, 2025 · Joan FiniganSpent Memorial Day weekend here and first of all, extremely expensive. Second of all, the seasons are absolutely terrible and decided to have an extremely loud golf cart “parade” at 9:30 at night with police and fire sirens. Waking up all 6 of our young children of friends that we camped with… we proceeded to ask them if they could kindly turn down the sirens… the season guest said “you don’t like it go somewhere else” extremely rude and I’ll be calling corporate. Not worth it.
May 25, 2025 · Allison SanfilippoStayed here with my family. The cabin was disappointing. there was mice droppings and stains on the pullout couch, which also was not even sleepable. for the amount of money spent it was horrible. The wifi had no internet and my toaster completely just didn’t work. Definitely not worth the insane amount of money charged.
Aug 19, 2025 · AnonymousWe had a really great time. We are a full-time family and have been to the good, the bad and the ugly. We really loved this place, the people and the amenities. If we are ever back in the area we will absolutely stay again.
