Services Offered

Sunshine MH & RV Resort aims to provide a range of services to accommodate both its mobile home residents and RV guests. While the provided customer reviews highlight some challenges, common services typically offered in such a resort setting include:

  • Site Hookups for RVs: For RV guests, the resort generally offers essential hookups, which typically include electric, water, and sewer connections for convenient and comfortable stays. However, a review mentions issues with "water pressure was minimal several times" and "internet service didn’t work the majority of the time," which are important considerations for prospective visitors.

  • Mobile Home Lots: The resort provides lots for mobile homes, indicating long-term residency options. This typically includes basic infrastructure to connect homes to utilities.

  • Community Facilities: Resorts often have communal areas for residents and guests. A review mentions a "swimming pool," which is a common amenity for recreation. However, it also notes that "the heater on the swimming pool went out twice making it too cold to get into," suggesting inconsistencies in its full functionality.

  • On-site Management: The presence of a "manager, Vicki" indicates that there is on-site management or personnel responsible for the day-to-day operations and addressing resident concerns. Customer reviews suggest areas for improvement in management's demeanor and responsiveness.

  • Maintenance Services (Common Areas): While specific details are not provided, resorts typically handle maintenance of common areas, roads, and shared facilities. A review, however, mentioned an incident with RV parking assistance where the "RV man parking us didn’t know what he was doing," implying potential shortcomings in personnel training or responsibility for incidents.

  • Utility Billing: A review indicates that "additional charges" were incurred for electricity, described as a "portion of the entire resort’s electric bill." This suggests a system where residents contribute to the overall utility costs, which is a billing method that potential residents should clarify upon inquiry.

This proactive approach will help manage expectations and provide a clear understanding of the living experience at Sunshine MH & RV Resort.

Conclusion: Why This Place Is Suitable for Locals

For Floridians considering a mobile home or RV lifestyle, Sunshine MH & RV Resort in Lake Placid offers a location that appeals to those seeking a quieter, lake-centric environment in the heart of the state. Its suitability for locals, particularly those who value community activities and a relaxed pace, hinges on several factors, while also acknowledging areas where prospective residents should exercise due diligence.

One of the primary attractions for locals is the resort's location in Lake Placid, Florida. This town is renowned for its numerous freshwater lakes, providing abundant opportunities for fishing, boating, and enjoying the serene beauty of inland Florida. For many Floridians who appreciate outdoor recreation and a less congested environment than coastal areas, Lake Placid offers a desirable alternative. The easy access via FL-70 also makes it convenient for both seasonal visitors and those seeking a long-term residence, allowing relatively straightforward travel within the state.

Furthermore, the presence of a strong social component, particularly around activities like pickleball, is a significant highlight. As noted by a customer, the "people who played pickleball there were very friendly and accommodating." For locals looking for a community where social engagement is easy and neighbors are welcoming, this aspect is invaluable. Many Floridians, especially retirees or those seeking a community-focused lifestyle, prioritize opportunities for social interaction and shared hobbies, and an active pickleball group certainly provides that. The existence of a swimming pool, despite past heating issues, also suggests avenues for recreation and social gatherings.

However, it is crucial for local Floridians to approach Sunshine MH & RV Resort with a well-informed perspective, taking into account the direct feedback from previous residents and guests. Concerns raised about water quality, inconsistent internet service, transparent utility billing, and the professional conduct of some management personnel are significant. These points underscore the importance of thorough personal inquiry and perhaps a preliminary visit to assess the current state of affairs and to speak directly with current residents. Acknowledging that past management issues might have led to residents selling their homes after long tenures also highlights the need for careful consideration.

In conclusion, Sunshine MH & RV Resort could be suitable for Floridians who prioritize a quiet, lake-area setting, value an active social community (especially around pickleball), and are willing to conduct diligent research into current management practices and utility reliability. While the location and the friendly resident base present clear advantages, prospective mobile home residents or RV guests should ensure they receive clear, satisfactory answers to all their questions regarding services, management responsiveness, and overall park conditions to ensure a positive and comfortable stay in Lake Placid.

I am an immigrant and American citizen of the United States for 15 years , I tried to apply to rent at this park , and the manager, Vicki, acted racist from the moment she saw me. She had a rude and nasty attitude. This park had different management years ago. This is one are disrespectful. Thats why they're moving and people selling all the mobile homes. Don't rent there or you'll have a bad time. I'll post a photo below so you can read how she talks about people. RACIST.

My lady and I just spent 2 winter months at the Sunshine RV Resort in Lake Placid, FL which we paid for in advance. As a result of our stay, we will never return to that resort. When we arrived, we were shown to our camping spot by one of their personnel. He took us in to the sight from a poor direction not leaving much room to maneuver. As we were turning to back into the sight, the rear of my RV hit the front fender of the neighbor’s car putting a dent in it. The RV man parking us was not in view of my rearview mirror and did not stop me until after the accident. We ended up having to go around the block and enter from the other direction. As a result, the resort wouldn’t take any responsibility for the accident and I had to pay for it myself. The resort maintenance manager told me that the man parking us didn’t know what he was doing. In addition to this initial problem, we experienced, the water was contaminated twice during our stay and the water pressure was minimal several times. The internet service didn’t work the majority of the time either. When we got our electric bill, there were additional charges which we were told was for our portion of the entire resort’s electric bill. Also during our stay, the heater on the swimming pool went out twice making it too cold to get into. Our neighbors, who were full timers, put their place up for sale after more than 10 years there during our stay and told us they have had enough of the negative issues in this resort. The only good thing I can say about it is that the people who played pickleball there were very friendly and accommodating. Think carefully before you decide to visit this RV resort.

This little gem is quiet, away from the traffic of the coasts. There are horseshoe, pickleball, golf, fishing, bingo, euchre, poker enthusiasts that meet here every winter. We were welcomed by most residents. One of the friendliest places to winter in Florida.

We have stayed here for 3 Winters now. Great Park!! The location is a short drive to each coast, near Casinos, Race Tracks, and shopping. The owners continue to invest in the park. The Staff is Great and works hard to make it a place like Home.

We’ve stayed in many RV parks, a few in Florida. Sunshine is one of the best. Great pool. Plenty to do. And the people in the park are the nicest I’ve come across. We will definitely be back.
