Customer Reviews
SUP / Camping Adventure on the Altamaha River started out camping in tents, yurts, a pull behind camper and rented at RV for the weekend. This place is a hidden gem in South Georgia. The prices are amazing low and the park is cleaner than so many we have stayed in. I highly recommend this place and we will for sure be back soon to float the river and eat at Benton's Lees Steak House just 8 miles down stream with a minimum float time of 2.5 hours with the water levels at 78 feet.
This is a lovely place, I’m reluctant to review it because I feel like it’s my own little hide-out. Absolutely beautiful and quiet. Can’t wait to go back.
Full transparency - my wife and I are hosts at Towns Bluff Park and Heritage Center. We're full time RVers and Towns Bluff is a park we will visit again. It's a quiet peaceful park with a great boat ramp on the Altamaha River. 25 large pull through sites with various hook ups in a tall pine forest plus a primitive area both with bath houses and hot showers. Certainly no hunting in the park but many hunters use the campground as a base camp during deer season. Heritage Center is a well done project by local historians. Lots of local items and information about the area, river and past inhabitants. Talks and tours in the summer. Come for an afternoon or a week, you won't be disappointed.
Awesome place!! Clean campground, and the bath house is very clean! The camp hosts, Jason & Michelle, are very friendly and knowledgeable!!
The Heritage Center is a very interesting little museum about the history of the Altamaha River.
