It’s a nice campground, clean, with very friendly and helpful staff. The location is easy to access, right off the main road. Down side is that it’s right off the main road, stuck between traffic and the river. But I guess that if you are near the river, its sound will drown off the sound from the road. The sites are nice, clean and comfortable, but small and really close to each other. And if you are currently traveling with children, be aware that the playground is closed for maintenance. I’m sure it will be awesome come this summer, but for now it was a bit of a bummer.

Fantastic service from the desk staff, they were very helpful in accommodating our trailer and motorcycles for our trip. Cabins are clean with comfy mattresses as advertised, heaters, AC, TV, and refrigerator provided as well as a camp grill and fire pit. Gravel lots and roads are well kept and we never saw any trash around the sites. Great location just outside of Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, and many other great spots. 35-40 minutes from the Tail of The Dragon. Great place to stay on a budget with family or close friends.

Beautiful camp ground. Lots of both tent and RV spots. We stayed in the deluxe patio spot with full hookups. It was VERY easy to back in with the help of their friendly staff. I would definitely recommend staying here.

Stay at any KOA but this one! I don’t write reviews often but I wanted to share our experience with this particular location. We travel often and wanted to stay at this particular location because it’s on the river. We had a problem with our reservation due to a family emergency (sudden death from a heart attack.) Called to cancel the reservation, the money hungry manager whom was such a coward relayed the message through her innocent employee which was… “we don’t care what the problem is we don’t refund.” I am a KOA member, have been for years and she ruined my experience with KOA. I absolutely will not stop here!!!! This lady was awful, incentive and rude! Stay at Cherokee, the pool is better, the staff is sweet and the grounds are cleaner! Townsend KOA is a joke dirty and quite honestly a complete disgrace to KOA. KOA should be embarrassed of the Townsend location and how it’s run. So sad!!!!
