It’s a spot where you can enjoy the simplicity of camping without completely disconnecting from essential services. Whether you’re planning a weekend getaway or a longer-term stay, understanding its unique character is key to appreciating what Turtle Creek Campground brings to the South Carolina outdoor recreation scene. The focus here seems to be on a comfortable, no-frills experience with the added benefit of being close to town amenities when needed.
Turtle Creek Campground is situated at 2549 Overbrook Dr, Gaffney, SC 29341, USA. This location is particularly advantageous for residents throughout South Carolina, as Gaffney is a well-known town in the Upstate region, easily accessible via major interstates. Its position offers a balance of feeling "nestled in the woods" while remaining conveniently close to essential services.
Being in Gaffney means campers have quick access to local stores, restaurants, and other amenities, which is a significant plus, especially for those on longer trips or experiencing unforeseen needs. This proximity allows campers to enjoy the tranquility of the campground without feeling completely isolated from urban conveniences. The address suggests it's not deep in an remote wilderness, but rather on the outskirts of a developed area, providing a comfortable blend of nature and accessibility.
However, it's worth noting some feedback regarding the internal layout and infrastructure of the park. While it's generally accessible to get to the campground itself, some internal sites may not be perfectly level, which can make setting up an RV with proper septic drainage a challenge. Additionally, some reviews mention an abundance of mud, particularly after rain, which could affect ease of movement within the campground. While the roads leading to the campground are presumably well-maintained, internal road conditions might vary. Visitors should keep these points in mind when planning their arrival and setup, especially if they have larger RVs or require precise leveling.
Turtle Creek Campground aims to provide campers with essential services to ensure a comfortable stay. Based on customer feedback, the following services are notably available:
- Electric Hookups: Each site appears to be equipped with electric connections, a crucial amenity for RVers to power their vehicles and appliances.
- Water Hookups: Fresh water access is provided at the sites, ensuring campers have a continuous supply for their needs.
- Sewer Hookups: The availability of sewer connections at sites is a significant convenience, allowing for direct waste disposal without the need for frequent trips to a dump station. However, it’s worth noting that some sites may present leveling challenges that could make septic drainage difficult, as highlighted by a customer review.
- Internet Access: The campground offers internet service, which is a valuable addition for those who need to stay connected for work, communication, or entertainment during their stay.
- Long-Term Stays: The campground seems to accommodate longer-term residents, as indicated by a review from a five-month stay, suggesting it's suitable for extended periods.
While these are the services explicitly mentioned or inferred from customer experiences, campers are always encouraged to confirm specific service details and availability with the campground management directly, particularly if they have unique requirements or concerns about site conditions.
Turtle Creek Campground offers several features and highlights that contribute to its appeal for campers in South Carolina:
- Quiet, Wooded Setting: A significant highlight is its tranquil environment. Reviews emphasize that the campground is "nestled in the woods," providing a comfortable and quiet atmosphere for relaxation and enjoying nature. This makes it an ideal escape from urban noise and activity.
- Proximity to Gaffney Amenities: Despite its natural setting, the campground is conveniently close to Gaffney's stores and restaurants. This allows campers to easily access supplies, dining options, and other essentials without having to travel far, offering the best of both worlds – nature and convenience.
- Friendly Caretakers: Customer reviews frequently praise the friendliness and trustworthiness of the caretakers, Steve and Rose. This personal touch and supportive on-site management significantly enhance the camping experience, contributing to a welcoming and helpful environment.
- Essential Utility Hookups: The provision of electric, water, sewer, and internet hookups at sites ensures a comfortable and connected stay for RVers, allowing them to enjoy the comforts of home while surrounded by nature.
- Walkable Grounds: The ability to walk the grounds, as mentioned by a visitor, suggests ample space and pathways for leisurely strolls, perfect for families with children or anyone looking to stretch their legs and explore the immediate surroundings.
It is also important to consider that while the caretakers are highly regarded, some infrastructural challenges like unlevel sites, septic drainage issues due to uphill drains, and muddy conditions have been noted. These points, while important for practical considerations, do not detract from the positive aspects of the natural setting and the quality of the on-site management.

Customer Reviews
Enjoyed our time there, electric, water, sewer and internet. Perfect place nestled in the woods yet close enough to access Gaffney stores and restaurants. Grandkids and I walked the grounds when it we were building. Comfortable and quiet. Thanks for the stay!
Steve and Rose were the friendliest care takers I've ever dealt with. But unfortunately the owners of the park (whomever they are) have a lot more work ahead of them. The water isn't the best quality. Many of the sites aren't level which makes septic a nightmare at most sites. My septic drain was uphill like most of my neighbors. There's an abundance of mud everywhere. I stayed 5 months because again the care takers are good trustworthy people. But the layout and infrastructure of this park has a lot to work on. Some of the people staying there would also drive really fast through the park. Particularly one guy who never showed any concern for others. Everyone else was super friendly. Without the caretakers, I would definitely not recommend this place unfortunately.
Been here for 6 month’s, the property managers Steve and Rose are great to work with, will help with what’s needed real nice folk. Name should be changed from campground to RV park because it’s nowhere near a campground. Lots aren’t graded correctly, grounds are not kept up, erosion of lots when it rains, price is higher than other parks in area but everything is included. When it rains it’s a mud whole, so it doesn’t say much for the owner. There are a few full time residents but most are contractors that come and go.
I stayed at Turtle Creek Campground while my husband was working in the area from 1/21 till 10/21. This by far is one of the best campgrounds I have stayed at. I have been to many campgrounds with my husbands job throughout the years, in different states some very expensive and some cheap. I felt safe and was happy at Turtle Creek campground in whole. My experience with Turtle Creek Campground was a great experience! The owner is a great guy and the staff is beyond wonderful. Now hold your wheels!!!!! I noticed Mr. Ramos review so I had to comment Dear Mr Ramos: There is no difference between an RV park and a Campground. Unfortunately the owner can not control what you call erosion, and I along with most people call it rain, its caused by mother nature. Also this crack’s me up its not a mud hole, there is no mud there. You see when it rains puddles create and gather on the ground this is part of rain. And the price is right!, everything is included. You don’t have to worry about some crazy electric bill or water bill at the end of the month some parks even charge you for dumping trash and having a pet or 2nd vehicle. I have experienced this myself. If your not happy Mr. Ramos go somewhere else. I cant stand people who complain about nothing just to be a jerk. Turtle Creek Campground is a nice place to stay. It's not a fancy resort, it is a full hookup campground for campers.
I give a 5 star rating for customer service and I do realize this is a new - work in progress campground but the sites are not very level - I couldn’t level my 25ft motor home. So uneven that I didn’t want to put my side slide out as it felt like we would tip over. Sites are all back ins - which is fine BUT sewer hook up is on drivers side and water and electric are on passenger side. All hooks ups should be on drivers side as that is where they are located on almost all motor homes, 5th wheels and travel trailers. So, we ended up pulling into a back up site to connect to electric and water and didn’t even mess with hooking up the sewer. If connections were on the correct side I could see this evolving into a nice little campground.
