Twin Lakes Campground, including site #44, is located directly on Lake Hartwell in Seneca, SC 29678, USA. While a specific street address isn't always given for campgrounds within larger natural areas, its position directly on Lake Hartwell is key to its appeal and accessibility.
Access to Twin Lakes is generally straightforward for RVs and towing vehicles. The campground is well-situated within the broader Lake Hartwell area, which is easily reached from major interstates like I-85. Typically, campers would take exits that lead towards Clemson or Seneca, then follow state routes and local roads that are well-marked for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers recreation areas. The internal roads within Twin Lakes Campground are paved and well-maintained, ensuring smooth navigation to individual sites, even for larger RVs.
The campground's proximity to Seneca, South Carolina, is a significant advantage. Seneca, a vibrant town, is just a short drive away (typically 10-15 minutes), offering all essential services. This includes numerous grocery stores, gas stations, a variety of restaurants, and retail shops, making it easy to stock up on supplies or enjoy a meal out. For those interested in local culture or sporting events, Clemson University is also nearby, adding another layer of convenience and attraction. The blend of a serene lakeside setting with easy access to town amenities makes Twin Lakes an exceptionally convenient and desirable location for campers across South Carolina.
As a reputable U.S. Army Corps of Engineers campground, Twin Lakes provides a comprehensive set of services designed to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable camping experience. These services generally apply to all sites, including site #44:
- Full Hookup Sites (Water & Electric, some Sewer): Most sites are equipped with water and electric hookups (30/50 amp). While not every site has a sewer hookup directly, the campground provides conveniently located dump stations for waste disposal. Site #44 specifically has good water pressure, suggesting reliable water service.
- Comfort Stations with Hot Showers: Well-maintained and clean comfort stations with flush toilets and hot showers are available throughout the campground, ensuring that even if your RV isn't fully self-contained, you have access to clean facilities.
- Spacious & Level Sites: Many sites, including #44, are noted for being large and level, making it easy to set up RVs and tents comfortably.
- Picnic Tables & Fire Rings: Each campsite typically comes with a picnic table for outdoor dining and a fire ring for campfires (subject to park regulations and burn bans).
- Boat Ramp & Lake Access: Easy access to Lake Hartwell is provided via a boat ramp and courtesy docks, perfect for those who enjoy boating, fishing, or other water sports.

Twin Lakes Campground, and specific sites like #44, offer a variety of appealing features and highlights that consistently draw campers:
- Spacious and Level Sites: A recurring positive theme is the size and levelness of the campsites. Site #44, in particular, is noted as a "Great site" with ample room, making setup easy and providing comfortable living space.
- Good Shade: Many sites, including #44, benefit from excellent shade provided by the mature trees within the park. This is crucial for comfort during warmer South Carolina months, offering natural cooling and protection from the sun.
- Proximity to Lake Hartwell: The campground is directly on Lake Hartwell, one of the region's premier lakes for recreation. Site #44 is specifically noted for having "not a steep slope to water," indicating easy access for lake activities like fishing or launching small watercraft from the site.
- Clean and Nice Bathrooms: Campers consistently praise the cleanliness and quality of the bathrooms, which enhance the overall camping experience, even if hot showers can sometimes be a "timing thing." Good water pressure is also a plus.
- Wildlife and Natural Beauty: The wooded setting provides opportunities to observe local wildlife, adding to the natural charm and immersive outdoor experience.
- Community and Friendly Atmosphere: Reviews often highlight "great people" and "lovely neighbors," indicating a welcoming and friendly community feel within the campground.
- Long-Standing Reputation: With campers returning for "50 years," Twin Lakes has a proven track record of customer satisfaction and provides a nostalgic connection for many long-time South Carolina campers.
One common point of feedback relates to tree limbs potentially obstructing lake views from some sites. While the shade is appreciated, some campers express a desire for more proactive tree trimming by the Corps of Engineers to enhance scenic views.
As a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers managed campground, Twin Lakes generally adheres to federal pricing and discount structures rather than offering traditional commercial promotions. However, these established policies provide inherent "special offers" that make it an excellent value for many South Carolina residents:
- Affordable Nightly Rates: COE campgrounds are typically known for offering highly competitive and affordable nightly rates compared to many privately owned campgrounds. These rates make quality camping accessible to a broad range of budgets (cited rates can vary, but generally fall into a budget-friendly range, often around $15-$22, though some premium sites can be higher).
- America the Beautiful Passes: Holders of the America the Beautiful – The National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Senior Pass or Access Pass are eligible for a 50% discount on camping fees (for the pass holder's site), providing significant savings for eligible South Carolinians.
- Value of Included Amenities: The camping fee includes access to full or partial hookups, clean bathhouses with hot showers, boat ramps, playgrounds, and the natural beauty of Lake Hartwell, all contributing to substantial value.
For the most accurate and up-to-date pricing, specific reservation policies (including minimum stay requirements, which are often two nights), and details on pass discounts, it is always recommended to check the official Recreation.gov website (the primary reservation platform for COE campgrounds) or contact the Hartwell Dam & Lake Office directly.

Customer Reviews
I've been camping at Twin Lakes for 50 years. Most of the sites are large and level. My only complaint is many of the trees between the camp site and the water have so many low hanging limbs it blocks the view of the lake. I would love to see the Corp of engineers take a more pro active interest in customer satisfaction.
Great site (40) good shade. Not a steep slope to water. Great people. Nice bathrooms, even though we couldn't get hot showers. Could have been a timing thing. Great water pressure.
Good place to stay while visiting Clemson graduation (now I have to clear my throat GO GATORS 🐊) Well maintained COE. NO HANDSOAP? though?
Fabulous park, sites well spaced, very clean and well maintained. We come several times a year
Love Twin Lakes Campground. They have a bit of a skunk problem. They don't really bother you but do tend to wonder up to your site at night looking for food so just keep that in mind if you go out at night.
