Two Mile Prairie Primitive Campsite is located at 2653 E Withlacoochee Trail, Dunnellon, FL 34434, USA. This address places it squarely within the Two Mile Prairie Tract of the expansive Withlacoochee State Forest. This vast forest, spanning over 165,000 acres across multiple counties, is a significant natural resource in Florida, offering diverse ecosystems and recreational opportunities.
The campsite itself is accessible via a trail from a designated parking lot. Reviews indicate a "decent parking lot" at the trailhead. From this entrance, there's a "hard 1 mile trek to campsite," which transitions from an "average size" beginning trail to a "larger trail the size of a one way dirt road." The trails are "marked with yellow paint on the tree," aiding navigation for hikers. The campsite is specifically located on the Withlacoochee River, providing excellent water access. While remote in feel, the main access road, E Withlacoochee Trail, connects to other local roads leading to Dunnellon, a charming town that can provide any necessary supplies before heading into the wilderness. Hard 1 mile trek to campsite, but overall fun and cheap reservation
May 20, 2025 · Tomas VivasDecent parking lot, at the trail entrance there is a picnic table and a bulletin board with the entire list of rules for the area. The beginning trail is average size but leads to a larger trail the size of a one way dirt road, at this intersection there is a garbage can "it was over flowing on my visit". The trails are marked with yellow paint on the tree, it took me approximately 6 minutes to make it to the first river side campsite " I didn't have any camping gear just a camera" and approximately another 4 minutes down the trail to get to the second river side campsite. Each camp site had a picnic table "old tables, and wobbly but better than nothing" the second camp site had a fire ring. Both campsites were nice looking and you can have a line in the water while camping and cook your catch right at the campsite. This is as very easy hike if you’re looking for a quick primitive camping area.
