Virginia’s Beach Lakefront Cottages & Camping provides a variety of accommodations and services designed to enhance a lakeside camping experience, though some aspects like water pressure and facility maintenance can vary:
- RV Sites: The campground offers "large pull through, 50-amp, full hookup, lakefront RV sites," as well as wooded sites with water and electric hookups. While water pressure has been noted as "really poor" by some, leading campers to use their onboard water tanks and pumps, the hookups are available.
- Tent Sites: For those preferring a more traditional camping experience, "secluded tent sites" are available, often just a "walk away from the beach."
- Cottage and Cabin Rentals: Virginia's Beach features a range of comfortable lodging options, including "lake front cottages" and "cabins in the woods." There's also a "2 bedroom cottage for larger families." These rentals typically include a picnic table and fire ring. Cottages may feature full-size futons, bunk beds, sleeping lofts, kitchen areas with appliances (stove, sink, small refrigerator, toaster oven, K-cup coffee maker), TV, dinette, and a bathroom with shower, air conditioning, and heating. Deluxe cottages offer additional amenities like a full-size bed in a separate bedroom, microwave, and TV/DVD player. Cabins are simpler, with mini-refrigerators, microwaves, electric lights/outlets, and bunk beds, with restrooms and water nearby.
- Private Boat Launch: A significant amenity is the "private boat launch for boats up to 18 feet," allowing guests to easily access Lake Erie for boating and water sports.
- Boat and Kayak Rentals: "Kayak rentals" are available, and the possibility of "fishing boat" rentals allows guests without their own watercraft to enjoy the lake.
- Fishing Opportunities: The campground offers "some of the best Walleye, Perch, Bass, and Trout fishing in the area." There is also a "catch and release fishing pond" for additional angling fun.
- Beach Access: With "1,100 feet of easy-access lake frontage," guests have ample space to enjoy the beach, set up chairs, and watch the sunset.
- Playground: A "playground" is available for children, though one review noted it was "covered in spiders and spider webs."
- Restrooms and Showers: Bathhouses and showers are provided. However, reviews indicate varying levels of cleanliness and upkeep ("outhouses were not well kept," while another found the campground "clean").
- On-site Market/Store: A "well-stocked convenience store" or "office store" is available for supplies, though some have noted it can be "very understocked" or staff can be difficult to locate.
- Pet Policy: Pets are permitted in tent and RV sites (up to 2 dogs per site), but "pets are not allowed at cottages or cabins." Pets must be on a leash, waste must be removed immediately, and aggressive dogs are not permitted. Pets are also not allowed on the beach or in the playground area.
- Stunning Lake Erie Views & Access: The absolute highlight is the direct access to Lake Erie and the "great view of the Lake." Many RV sites and all cottages offer "spectacular view" of one of America's Great Lakes. The "sandy edge" of the beach is perfect for setting up chairs and watching the "best sunsets in the world" (according to National Geographic).
- Diverse Accommodation Options: Whether you prefer the rustic charm of a secluded tent site, the convenience of a full-hookup RV spot (including "large pull through, 50-amp, lakefront RV sites"), or the comfort of a charming lakefront cottage or cabin, Virginia's Beach offers a wide range of choices to suit different preferences and budgets.
- Direct Water Access & Activities: With a "private boat launch for boats up to 18 feet," and options for "kayak rentals" and "fishing boat" rentals, guests can easily enjoy fishing for walleye, perch, bass, and trout, or simply take a relaxing paddle on the lake. The "catch and release fishing pond" adds another angling opportunity.
- Peaceful and Quiet Atmosphere: Despite some service-related comments, many reviewers praise the campground for being "quiet and serene," particularly at night. This provides a truly relaxing escape for those seeking tranquility by the lake.
- Friendly Fellow Campers: Several reviews mention that "the other campers were all very friendly," contributing to a pleasant and welcoming community atmosphere during your stay.
- Spacious RV Sites: Reviews highlight "very large and spacious" RV sites, giving campers ample room to spread out and enjoy their surroundings.
- Pet-Friendly (for RV/Tent Sites): For those traveling with furry companions, the campground allows up to two dogs per tent or RV site (with clear policies on leashing, waste, and restricted areas like the beach and cottages).

Customer Reviews
We just camped there for the holiday weekend. The weather had been less then pleasant before we had arrived, so everything was wet and swampy. We knew this going into our trip, because we traveled 4+ hours in the rain and before we arrived the campground called us to tell us how wet it was. When we arrived and checked in they were very pleasant. We waited to be parked by the owner, and he told us we had one chance to park because he didn't want to tear up his grass. His attitude was less then pleasant He was made at how we parked the camper, but we had never been there before and were following his lead. He snapped at me when when I was hooking up the water and told me that I didn't to filter the water because he had the best water around. The water is gravity feed and the water pressuer os really poor. We ended up filling our water tank and using the water pump to obtain enough water pressure. After the first 30 mins at the campground I wanted to leave. I understand that everyone has bad days, but I recommend that you nicer to you campers who pay your bills. If you are so worried about the grass then spend some money and put stone down where you want the campers to park. The sad thing is the campground and view was beautiful, but we wouldn't go back just because of the owner.
We recently visited Virginia's Beach Cottages and Camping. Our visit was Monday through Wednesday and we found it to be extremely nice. The campground was quiet, well kept and clean. The views of the lake and accessibility to the beach are terrific! The owners are kind and accommodating and the other campers were all very friendly. We stayed at site T18 which is very large and spacious. Virginia's is a wonderful spot and we will make a point to return.
I read a lot of the negative comments and disagreed with them wholeheartedly. The beach although rocky is marked well that it's at your own risk which I was happy to take it was a great swim. Our cabin was great and the water was hot. WiFi worked great for my music by the fire pit. Customer service was great. They were very nice people and even other patrons would say hi. We didn't use the playground to much but my kids loved running and playing in dirt and finding ways to have fun. Wood was well priced burned good. I decided to keep the cabin clean as possible and surrounding area so they wouldn't have to do as much because they have a lot to look after. I did not hear trains but don't mind them I'm used to them. Would definitely recommend to others and plan to visit again.
We stayed in our tent, so I didn't rate rooms. First camping trip in 25+ years and a very first camping trip for our friends, who are a young family of 5. After driving 2 1/2 hours, we had a very disappointing experience with Sara's Campground, and we decided to look for another campground nearby. We called Virginia's Beach for information and decided to give it a try. It was a very pleasant experience from the phone call till the end of our stay. We loved the spacious lots, large trees, the beach, etc. Well worth the drive for us. We will definitely be returning (with our dogs the next time) and are also planning a yearly group camping trip.
Do not trust the website on this place. Everything about it was false advertising. The beach consists of rock and debris with industrial size blocks. No sand or space to lay out and put an umbrella, unless you want to drill through rock. None of the staff were friendly. They all drove around on golf carts, intoxicated. We were told we were going to be kicked out for not obeying the speed limit in the campground. However 5mph wasn’t enough speed to make it up the severely flood rutted hill to our campsite. The bathrooms were disgusting and had a terrible methane odor. T-6 which boasts to be private and lake view was actually a grassy hill surrounded by weeds and a dilapidated pavilion overlooking a field of RV’s. No privacy for tent camping and no amenities. No charm to this place and was extremely outdated. We left after the first night.
