Customer Reviews
I honestly loved this spot. April took care of us and accommodated to our needs without even asking. She was one of the best campground personnel I’ve come across in awhile. Give her a raise. We had a group campout here and worked well with getting a few sites together even though there smaller. The Facilities were decently clean which always matters. It has two different trails within the campground that are awesome. Natural Bridge State Park is definitely a must do in Red River Gorge!
It's a typical state park campground, clean bathroom with showers, with a couple great trails right from the campground. Many sites backup to a creek.
My family and I went camping here over a weekend and had a delightful time. It was the weekend so it was crowded but we stayed in the non-electric area and everyone was packed in and happy. The bathrooms were clean and the shower water was hot.
I'm really torn about rating this campground. It's in a beautiful setting, with great nearby outdoors activities. The bathhouse is reportedly clean and functional. Water and 30-amp electric hookups on the spur were fine, although I used all of my 35' hose to reach the bib shared with the adjacent site. Picnic table and fire pit were provided. However, getting into and out of most of the RV sites is a challenge. The access road is single-lane with drop-offs on both sides. (They could fix the site-side dropoff problem with a couple of loads of gravel.) All but the shortest rigs are going to find getting into most sites a dance. I got in ok, but my usual positioning near the utulity side of the gravel driveway - where I landed on my initial entry - wound up with excessive leveling needed, so I wanted to move a foot or so to the right. With the short driveway, narrow road, and dropoff on the other side, it took about a dozen back-and-forth efforts to get moved. Even then I needed 3 lego layers to get level, & the nose of the truck was in the road while I disconnected. The dump station at Whittleton was closed, which is OK since the turn onto the narrow bridge from the spur is a no-go. Dump station at Middle Fork is "odd." You park in the oncoming lane on the hill entering the campground. The station itself is in need of maintenance, but even that won't fix the unlevel parking for the dump station. Don't count on really getting your tanks emptied.
My friends and I took 2 of my boys camping last week. It was a great spot. A little far from the bathroom but we did not mind the x hike. We plan to bring our Girl Scouts troop back this fall. ❤️❤️❤️ added bonus was the trails right on sight.
