Nestled within the beautiful Mashamoquet Brook State Park in the picturesque 'Quiet Corner' of the state, this campground offers a blend of natural beauty and essential camping comforts. The facility, which is state-run, provides a classic public park camping environment—one that is peaceful, family-friendly, and focused on outdoor recreation.
Wolf Den Campground is part of a larger park system that boasts impressive geological features and a rich history, with the campground itself taking its name from the legendary Wolf Den cave formation nearby. It is known for its generally "peaceful" atmosphere, even during busy holiday weekends, attracting "lots of happy people playing in the field and socializing." This communal, relaxed environment makes it a favored spot for families and groups looking to escape the pace of Connecticut city life without a long journey.
The campground offers 35 open campsites, primarily located in a field setting with scattered trees providing partial shade. It is well-suited for both tent campers and RV enthusiasts, with clean and well-maintained facilities being a key highlight. Operating seasonally, typically from late May through early September, Wolf Den Campground provides the perfect base for exploring the historical and natural wonders of northeastern Connecticut.

I'd like to give this place 0 to keep it secret, but I can't. The sites are all open with some trees around. Good for tent or RV camping. There are no hookups as far as I know, but I tent camp. There is a washroom building with a shower and dish washing station.

Sep 04, 2023 · Helpful ContributorNice small place, not a lot to do but nice place to chill and do some sports if you bring stuff.
Jun 14, 2025 · WolfeAll these campsites are great, they just don't let you stay long enough....
May 02, 2025 · chrisMy family camped here allot when I was younger. We really enjoyed this campground. The campsites are nice and grassy (good soft grass, not the gross stuff), the property is well taken care of and landscaped. It's not too cramped, every site gets a good amount of room and parking. It's field camping but there are enough trees to make it comfortable. It's usually very quiet, rules are enforced. Plenty of room to run around in the field to play games or stargaze at night. The bath house is generic and gets the job done, no frills, no complaints. Just an overall great campground.
