Took my granddaughter for a first beach experience at Apple Canyon Lake and couldn't get her off the beach all day. She was afraid of the seaweed, thought it was sharks. She loved the butterfly garden and rang the bell at the top of the tower and said she loves Jesus!

Great campground. Very hilly. Your legs will get a workout just walking around this place. Great bathhouse with 4 hot showers available. The laundry room is onsite too. I might be hard to find a flat spot for tent camping on most sites, but I did notice a large flat area reserved for tent campers in one area of the campground. Many permanent/seasonal campsites with good people to meet. You need to know a property owner or be one yourself to camp here. Not far from the golf course, beach, and a waterfall.

What a horrible organization and group of people. My daughter had saved her money for a camping vacation at the Canyon Campgrounds. They have her a site that a mountain goat could not stand on. There was not anyway to back onto the site so the permanent camper next to it said the only way to get on the site was to drive through the grass and down onto it. That’s the first problem. One set of steps got bent due to the angle and then the ground was so steep there was t a way to level it safely. When my 50 year old daughter who is a very mature government executive called to inquire about moving or getting a refund, she encountered the rudest, most unkind person she has ever spoken too. “Too bad, we don’t give refunds, that’s the lot you chose”. But they gave her that lot, she didn’t chose it. Even the full time camper next to it said nobody camps on that site because it is horrible and unsafe. In summary this is the lousiest, rude and lack of understanding people we have ever met. The only positive was the security person was understandable. I hope everyone else there has a miserable week.
