Atchafalaya Rv Park About

Howdy, fellow Louisianans! If you’re an RVer looking for a practical, comfortable, and conveniently located spot in the heart of our beautiful state, then Atchafalaya RV Park in Plaquemine is a destination you'll want to explore. Nestled near the legendary Atchafalaya Basin, this park offers a unique blend of accessibility to incredible outdoor recreation and the comforts of an all-concrete layout, ensuring a mud-free experience that many RVers truly appreciate, especially in our often-wet climate.

Atchafalaya RV Park is more than just a place to park your rig; it’s a developing community that aims to provide a hassle-free stay. The owners, Mr. Glynn and his son Sam, are actively involved in ensuring an "enjoyable stay" for their guests. This direct, hands-on management approach is often a highly valued aspect for RVers, fostering a sense of personal care and responsiveness that can make all the difference during a long-term or short-term visit. While it's noted that the park is relatively new and still "under construction" in some aspects, this also means potential for continued improvements and modern facilities.

For those who prioritize essential comforts and immediate access to local amenities over extensive on-site recreational facilities, Atchafalaya RV Park presents a compelling option. The park’s unique feature of being "all concrete" is a significant highlight, eliminating concerns about muddy sites, especially after a classic Louisiana downpour. Furthermore, the convenience of having "all the fishing you could desire right next door," along with a "convenience store, fuel, and bar next door," makes daily living and leisure incredibly easy. While some noise from an adjacent road and occasional parties have been mentioned, the overall sentiment points towards a practical and well-regarded spot for many, with numerous residents stating they "will go back and stay, Everytime!!!!" This article will delve into the specifics, helping you understand why Atchafalaya RV Park might be your next favorite spot in Louisiana.

Location and Accessibility

Atchafalaya RV Park is strategically located at 65435 Bayou Rd, Plaquemine, LA 70764, USA. This address places it in the historic town of Plaquemine, in Iberville Parish, within easy reach of the expansive and ecologically rich Atchafalaya Basin. For RVers, this location offers a gateway to some of Louisiana's most iconic natural landscapes and outdoor activities, particularly fishing and boating in the bayous and swamps.

Bayou Road itself provides local access, and its proximity to major routes enhances the park's accessibility. Plaquemine is located on the west bank of the Mississippi River, just south of Baton Rouge. This means residents and visitors have convenient access to the state capital's extensive amenities, including employment opportunities, large retail centers, diverse dining options, and medical facilities. Major highways like LA-1 and LA-30 (River Road) are easily reachable, connecting the park to Baton Rouge and other parts of South Louisiana.

The "right next door" convenience to fishing is a huge draw for this location. The Atchafalaya Basin is a legendary destination for anglers, offering unparalleled opportunities for freshwater fishing. Beyond the natural attractions, the presence of "Jack Miller's Landing out front" – a local store offering "gas or drinks prior to work" and even a "lounge that serves steaks and whatnot" – further enhances the park's practicality. This immediate access to fuel, basic supplies, and dining means that guests have essential conveniences literally steps away from their RV. While it's noted that "Belleville Rd has lots of traffic at all hours," the convenience of the location for work commutes and leisure activities in the heart of Louisiana often outweighs this for many practical RVers.

Services Offered

Atchafalaya RV Park focuses on providing fundamental and practical services to ensure a comfortable stay for its residents and visitors, especially for those looking for longer-term options. The emphasis appears to be on reliable site hookups and convenient access to external amenities.

  • Trash Services: Standard waste disposal services are expected, ensuring a clean environment.
  • On-Site Management/Owner Involvement: The presence of Mr. Glynn and his son Sam, the owners, suggests direct management and a hands-on approach to ensuring guest satisfaction.

Mr Glynn and his Son Sam, I. E. Owners do everything they can to make it an enjoyable stay. Beware there are no bathrooms or shower facilities for those that may need those, But they have a laundry facility and there is all the fishing you could desire right next door. There is also a convenience store, fuel, and bar next door. All concrete. Everyone around is very helpful! Will go back and stay, Everytime!!!! 🤩🤩

This is a nice park, especially if you are concerned with mud. The entire park is concrete except for a small apron around the outside. There is a small local store called Jack Miller's Landing out front that is a nice quick stop for gas or drinks prior to work. They also have a lounge that serves steaks and whatnot that I hadn't tried. However, at night this place can be loud. I was there for a month and there was an outdoor party with A DJ that was bumping until 2am. Belleville Rd has lots of traffic at all hours ranging from trucks with Jake brakes to lots vehicles just wanting the fastest 0-60 time. There is no laundry facility and no onsite manager. I should add that this is a new park and things are still under construction so this review is really only good at the time I'm writing it.

Park is fairly nice and quiet. Little bit of a drive on horrible roads if you are staying here while working at the plants.
