Atlanta Race track Camping About
Atlanta Race Track Camping, situated at the iconic Atlanta Motor Speedway in Hampton, Georgia, offers a unique and electrifying camping experience unlike any other traditional campground. This isn't just a place to park your RV or pitch a tent; it's an immersive extension of the excitement that defines one of Georgia's premier entertainment venues. Whether you're a dedicated NASCAR fan looking to be at the heart of the action, or a family seeking an unforgettable event-based getaway, Atlanta Race Track Camping provides diverse options and a lively atmosphere that caters to a wide range of preferences. It's a prime destination for Georgians who want to combine their love for events with the camaraderie and convenience of trackside camping.
Atlanta Race Track Camping is conveniently located at 75 Turnipseed Rd, Hampton, GA 30228, USA, placing it directly within the expansive grounds of the Atlanta Motor Speedway. This prime location in Hampton, Henry County, offers exceptional accessibility for visitors coming from all directions across Georgia and beyond.
Hampton is strategically positioned just a short drive south of Atlanta, making the campground easily reachable via major interstate highways. Interstate 75 is a key artery that provides direct routes to the area, ensuring smooth travel from Atlanta (typically a 30-45 minute drive, depending on traffic) and other parts of the state. Once off the interstate, local roads lead directly to the speedway, with clear signage and directed parking traffic, especially during major events, making arrival and setup as seamless as possible.
The accessibility extends beyond just driving. While onsite, a comprehensive tram service operates throughout many different events, with 12 stops around the vast 850-acre venue. This tram service conveniently connects campers to various areas of the speedway, including grandstands, fan zones, and event areas, making it easy to navigate without needing a personal vehicle once parked. This is especially beneficial as personal vehicles like golf carts and ATVs are generally not allowed on Speedway grounds, except for purpose-built single-person vehicles for handicapped persons. Furthermore, the proximity to the city of Hampton (just two miles away) means that essential supplies, local restaurants, and gas stations are all within a quick and easy trip, ensuring campers have everything they need for their stay. This blend of direct highway access, convenient onsite transportation, and nearby amenities truly makes Atlanta Race Track Camping an accessible and practical choice for Georgians.
Atlanta Race Track Camping offers a comprehensive array of services designed to make your stay comfortable and engaging, whether you're there for a major race weekend or year-round camping.
Diverse Campsite Options: The facility provides a wide range of camping options, including Premium Full Hook-Up sites (with 50 amp electrical hookups, water, and sewer), standard (dry) RV sites, and various tent/pop-up camping areas. Sites vary in size (e.g., 25'x50' pull-through & back-in) and surface (level gravel, asphalt, or grass) to suit different preferences and vehicle types.
Modern Shower Facilities and Restrooms: Clean and modern shower facilities and restrooms are available across the campgrounds, a highly valued amenity that enhances comfort for all campers.
Dedicated Camping Staff: Upon arrival, camping supervisors are on hand to direct parking traffic, provide campsite credentials, and assist with check-in, ensuring a smooth start to your stay. They are available for assistance throughout your visit.
Firewood and Ice Available: For convenience, campers can purchase firewood (for use in above-ground containers only, as open ground fires are prohibited) and ice directly within the campgrounds.

Onsite Transportation: A free tram service operates throughout the venue, connecting campgrounds to grandstands, fan zones, and other key areas, reducing the need for personal vehicle use once settled.
Pet-Friendly: Pets on leashes are generally welcome, with a dog park available for exercise.
Atlanta Race Track Camping offers a wealth of features and highlights that create a vibrant and memorable experience for visitors to the Atlanta Motor Speedway.
Immersive Event Atmosphere: The most significant highlight is the opportunity to camp directly at a major motorsports venue. This allows fans to fully immerse themselves in the excitement of race weekends, from the sounds of practice laps to the roar of the crowd on race day. As one reviewer stated, "We had a great time camping at the race track. Everyone was friendly and courteous and helpful."
Year-Round Camping Availability: Beyond major race events, Atlanta Race Track Camping offers year-round camping, providing a unique opportunity to stay at the Speedway even during non-event periods, complete with available water, power, and sewer hookups for comfort.
Family-Friendly Entertainment: The venue often hosts family-oriented entertainment. The "Cabin Fever laser show" is a prime example, providing "great night entertainment for the whole family." These shows are about 30 minutes long and encourage attendees to bring chairs, blankets, and glow sticks, creating a fun, interactive experience.
Variety of Camping Environments: Campers can choose from different atmospheres, including "Family RV (Dry)" campgrounds with strictly enforced quiet hours for a more tranquil stay, or "Legends RV" and "Unreserved Tent" areas which might have more of a "Party" atmosphere, catering to diverse preferences.

Atlanta Race Track Camping, while not typically offering traditional "promotions" in the form of discounts as a retail business might, provides significant value through its unique event-based camping packages and the overall experience.
During major NASCAR weekends, camping accommodations for RVs and tents can start at very competitive prices for the entire event, which translates to a highly affordable nightly rate for an immersive experience. For instance, some past events have seen camping accommodations for a full nine nights costing less than $9 per night. Specific full hook-up sites are available for a nominal fee, and during certain emergency situations like hurricane evacuations, the Speedway has even offered dry camping free of charge with access to shower houses, and full hook-up options for a nominal fee (e.g., $35 per night), demonstrating a commitment to community support.
Beyond pricing, the "promotions" often come in the form of included entertainment and access during race weeks. These can include:
Free entry to events like the "Fr8Auctions.com Fireworks Extravaganza" for campers.
Access to "Camper Appreciation Parties" with free food and drinks.
Infield "Peach Pit Parties" with live music and entertainment.
Free breakfast offered by Raceway Ministries on certain mornings.
Access to the AMS Fan Zone and pre-race concerts.

Customer Reviews
The Cabin Fever laser show was great night entertainment for the whole family. Show is about 30 min long. Bring chairs, blankets, flashlights for adults, glow sticks for the kids. There are NO food vendors so eat before or bring fast food/snacks or food & grill to cook on. Arrive at least 1 hour before to park & set up. They use a fog machine to enhance the light show. If that is a bother, arrive closer to start time so you can park farther away from screens/machines at rear. They will direct parking traffic.
We had a great time camping at the race track. Everyone was friendly and courteous and helpful.
Great show, a bit long.
When to the State Fair for the first time in Georgia. Was disappointed in the agriculture aspects of fair. 4-h is the best gift a parent can give to their children and should be rewarded at the state fair level.
Absolutely an incredible experience. Food isn’t all that so bring your own snacks. There was a food truck thought that looked and smelled pretty good! Will be back this summer!
