The property’s nestled location in the hills of West Virginia, though close to the natural sounds of the region, remains a quiet base while still offering essential connections to local towns like Danville and Madison for supplies and dining.

It allows locals to experience the beauty of their home state without sacrificing comfort, making Big Earls Campground the absolute best vacation spot for an authentic, convenient, and thrilling West Virginia adventure that will have you saying, "Country roads, take me home."
Hannah, the owner, is really nice and does her best to make sure everyone is well taken care of and goes above and beyond for her guests. The location is quiet, aside from the highway noise, which is unavoidable. The bathroom/shower facilities are clean and maintained, and the overall price is very reasonable. We will definitely camp here again.
May 25, 2025 · Tiffany KishI just want to give a HUGE shout out to BIG EARLS CAMPGROUND for making this trip the absolute BEST vacation spot of my life! The campground owner Hannah was warm, friendly and hospitable. She made sure we had access to everything we needed for our stay. Our cabin had it all-from cool air in the 90 degree heat to comfy beds and a private shower for resting up and refreshing ourselves between adventures! Our cabin sat beautifully on the Little Coal River where we caught smallmouth bass from the bank. We were able to drift peacefully in our kayaks for hours with plenty of take-out points. We were so excited to find the older Outlaw Trails were accessible directly from the campground. We also found the Hatfield McCoy Ivy Branch Trailhead was super easy to get to from our quads and less than 3 miles from camp. Every little town was nestled in the hills and the roads graciously carved through mountains. We saw plenty of deer with their fawns and even had a black bear ramble across the road in front of us! We even had the privilege of having one West Virginia's Zebra Swallowtail butterflies flutter around our cabin! What a beauty! And that means there are yummy PawPaw in this area! Now I know why John Denver wrote that song! We will be coming back! Thank you BIG EARLS CAMPGROUND!
Jun 22, 2025 · K Hefner (Treasuretrovers)Coming from New York, my father and I didn’t know what to expect when looking for accommodations. Luckily we noticed on Facebook that one of the cabins was open for the weekend so we called up! Hannah was extremely accommodating and made sure that my father and I were comfortable and had everything we needed and we could even quad straight from the campground to the local trails. Would definitely stay again!
Sep 03, 2024 · Mark ColellaWe had a great stay at Big Earl’s Campground! Hannah was an absolute joy to work with. She made us feel right at home from the minute we arrived. The RV spots are bigger than most and very reasonably priced. We were close to the Ivy Branch and Coal River trails. Very peaceful and quiet at night for a fire after a day of riding. Can’t wait to book our next stay!
Oct 10, 2023 · Bill & Mandi PhillipsStayed at the couples cottage this weekend. Very clean with nice yard to hang out in after riding. Trails, wash station and stores within 2-5 miles. And of course the host was awesome...as always! A+ for Big Earls
