Welcome to 119 Rivers Edge Campground, a premier destination nestled in the scenic and adventure-rich region of Julian, West Virginia. For local West Virginians and those exploring our beautiful state, this campground offers a unique blend of convenience, comfort, and direct access to some of the most thrilling outdoor activities the area has to offer. Opened in July 2021, this modern, family-friendly spot has quickly become a favorite for outdoor enthusiasts, particularly those drawn to the legendary Hatfield & McCoy Trails. More than just a place to park your RV or set up camp, 119 Rivers Edge Campground serves as your basecamp for exploring the rugged beauty of the Mountain State, offering essential amenities and a friendly atmosphere for a truly memorable getaway.
The core appeal of 119 Rivers Edge Campground lies in its focus on providing a comfortable, modern experience for adventurers. It is one of the few campgrounds in the area proudly offering year-round service, ensuring that whether you’re seeking a summer river float or a crisp autumn ATV ride, a welcoming spot is waiting for you. The grounds are meticulously maintained, featuring an all-gravel surface that is easy to navigate, even for the largest toy haulers and RVs. The atmosphere is laid-back and accommodating, frequently noted by visitors for the helpfulness and hard work of the staff, who are also a fantastic resource for local trail knowledge.
If you are looking for a reliable, clean, and expertly situated spot to launch your West Virginia adventure, especially in the southern region near the famous trail systems, you have found an excellent choice. The location, right alongside the Little Coal River, provides a pleasant, natural setting, while the full complement of hookups ensures your stay is as comfortable as possible. This is a place that understands the needs of the modern camper and outdoor recreationist.
119 Rivers Edge Campground is strategically located at 462 Adams Rd, Julian, WV 25529, USA. Its positioning is one of its greatest assets, offering remarkably easy access directly off US Route 119, a major thoroughfare in the region. This simple accessibility means less time navigating back roads and more time enjoying your vacation, a significant benefit for those hauling large campers or trailers.
The campground sits on the banks of the picturesque Little Coal River, providing a lovely backdrop and direct river access for water activities like kayaking and fishing. However, for many visitors, the main attraction is the direct and close proximity to the world-class Hatfield & McCoy Trail system. The campground is located next to the Hatfield & McCoy’s Ivy Branch and Big Coal River trail systems. This proximity is critical for off-road riders, as you are mere minutes from some of the most renowned riding in the country. A trail store for riding permits is also located conveniently close by.
While the location is incredibly convenient for recreational purposes, it's worth noting that the campground is situated between the Little Coal River and a major road, Route 119, with a railroad beyond the river. This means there can be some road and occasional train noise, a trade-off that is common and often expected for a location offering such quick and easy access to both major transport routes and popular trailheads. Despite this, the convenience for trail riders and the scenic river setting make it an ideal launch point for exploration. Furthermore, the campground is a short drive from Charleston, making it a viable option for a quick weekend escape or a longer vacation where you can easily replenish supplies.
The campground is designed to ensure a comfortable stay, focusing on essential, high-quality services for RV and camper users.

Really enjoy 119 Rivers Edge Campground for its close proximity to both HMT Ivy Branch and Big Coal River trail systems, as well as the trail store for riding permits. Sites have full hook ups and plenty of room for toy haulers. Very easy access off 119. Little Coal River passes behind camp for a nice setting. Traffic can be a little noisy but not unusual for off road camp. Owner is very knowledgeable about area trails. This area is great for riding. Love it!
Aug 02, 2025 · Deb NeidertGreat for ATV rides and kayaks. We aren't into either. Many people there, especially on the weekends come in for ATV tours and rides. There is a nice overflow parking area for extra vehicles and trailers. The spaces close to the river are skinny. Very skinny, unless you have a small camper, you are cramped. The area in the middle have larger spaces, but really no view. we opted for river. They were not busy during the week, and was allowed to park in the space beside ours for convenience of unloading groceries and such. They have a picnic table and fire ring at each site. They do have some seasonal, full timers, and workers who stay there. Which is perfectly fine. The whole area is newish, and all gravel. It is very easy to navigate around. There is an office and mens/womens restroom on site. There is also a good area for people with dogs to walk behind the overflow parking. Besides that, there is nothing else. The campground is in-between a major road and the river, with railroad beyond that. The road noise does get a little loud, but was fine. The train was not bad. I do want to shout out to J.R., who keeps the grounds very neat and upkept. He is such a nice guy, and can see his children playing around. He works so hard - always doing something.
Aug 15, 2023 · Cindi MarshallLoved this campground!! It's conveniently located by the Ivy branch of H&M trails and close to South Charleston. So if you need to go to town for anything it's only 20 minutes up the road. Must mention, this campground has city water!! The stone sites are pretty level and the river view is so beautiful. The owners and Junior (who runs it day to day) are some of the nicest people I have come across. Junior stopped by several times just to make sure we were enjoying ourselves. We had a downpour that took out our awnings as well as a few other campers. The owner and several other campers all came to the rescue. The owner even went to get his work truck for tools! The last day of our stay the owners heard a crash on the mountain across the street and hopped on their side by side to try and find the people to help. They found them and helped get their UTVs back up the mountain and helped them down to the waiting ambulance. How much better can people be!?! We will definitely be back for another stay!!
Jul 05, 2022 · Joleen Youngpeter1st time camping here and riding near ivy branch. JR the man that takes care of the campground is the nicest man. He went above and beyond to make sure our stay was awesome. Anything from directions, to suggestions, taken care of the campground, and even took us on a 3-4 hr tour of the trails to show us around. The lady at front (didn't catch name) was very polite and nice. We will be back later in the year for more fun. Thank you 119 rivers edge campground. 5+stars
