Promotions or Special Offers

Birch Cove Recreation Area is managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE). As a federal recreation site, it primarily operates under a standardized fee structure determined by the USACE rather than offering commercial promotions or special discounts in the same way a private campground might. Pricing for campsites is typically set annually and varies based on the type of site (e.g., electric hookup, primitive) and any additional amenities.

However, visitors to USACE campgrounds like Birch Cove can often benefit from national interagency passes that provide discounts on camping fees. These commonly include:

  • America the Beautiful – The National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Pass: This comprehensive pass system offers various options, such as the Annual Pass, Senior Pass (for those 62 and older, providing a 50% discount on camping fees), Access Pass (for those with permanent disabilities, also providing a 50% discount on camping fees), Military Passes, and a 4th Grade Pass. These passes can significantly reduce the cost of your stay if you qualify.
  • Annual USACE Day Use Pass: While this typically covers day-use fees for areas like boat ramps and swimming beaches, it can indirectly enhance the value of your camping trip by allowing access to these amenities without additional charges.

It's crucial to verify eligibility and the specific benefits of these passes at the time of booking or upon arrival, as terms and conditions can apply. While Birch Cove Recreation Area doesn't run "sales" in the traditional sense, the inherent value of its well-maintained facilities, beautiful natural setting, and access to a wide array of recreational activities, combined with the potential for federal pass discounts, makes it a highly attractive and affordable option for Oklahoma campers. Any specific updates on fees or operational changes due to ongoing renovations would be communicated through official channels.

Big campground and I only saw 1 other camper. Very pretty and quiet. Bathroom/shower room was clean. Good cell signal. I was in the 40-64 loop close to the bathroom and I only saw cleaning crew and 1 other camper on my 1 night there. Would stay there again if I come thru that way again.

Good campground made better by a terrific host! Be sure to bring extra water hose and splitters. They are working through renovations at this campground and are expanding the RV pads. We stayed at site 87, which was a beautiful spot, right on the water, with a brand new concrete pad. The only downside was that the water spigot was around 200' away from our site. Justin, the host, loaned us some extra so we could get connected but we had to run the hose across the entrance of site 88 in order to reach. Otherwise, everything was great! The grounds have restrooms, a playground, and newly paved roads. Each site has 30-amp electric hookups, fire rings, BBQ grills, stand-up bars and concrete picnic tables. Our pad was fairly level and long enough for our 31' trailer with plenty of space for parking. Would definitely stay here again.

The host campsite was abandoned. The only other campers was definitely abandoned. Started to pick up cigarette butts and trash but it was all over. Got the finger from a local going into the park. Scary and filthy.

Birch Cove was a quiet campground with clean bathroom facilities. We stayed in our travel trailer and our friends had a tent. We were at site 21, there was no view of the water. We were ok without a water view as many sites with a water view seemed much more crowded than ours. Site 21 had woods in the back and one side, which means we were not sandwiched other campers - private feel. We did not use the mounted stand up charcoal grill at the site but it was in great shape with a Shepard hook attached for hanging your lantern. The picnic table was made of concrete which made for a sore behind after a few rounds of cards but otherwise, it was nice to have a sturdy table for the 4 of us. The counter height bar was a great addition as our friend used it for his camp stove which gave us more room on the picnic table and he didn't have to bend over when he was cooking. Loved the counter height bar! The fire pit was huge and wasn't rusted out like we find at other camp grounds. We used three different bathroom facilities and all were clean. Always a big plus! Keep in mind that some of the water spigots at some sites seemed a bit further away while other sites seemed as if they were not intended to have water and people just shared water with their neighbor. We used just 1 25 foot hose to reach the water, however, we did see a one camper with 3 hoses white hoses attached we can only assume it was 3 25 foot hoses. If you are unsure, just call the camp hosts were friendly and I am sure could help you out on this. The beach area was clean but full sun. We did spend about 2 hours here on our visits and there were maybe a dozen other people on the beach. I believe no alcohol is allowed at the beach. Besides the town of Barnsdall which does not offer much, there were 3 decent size towns within 30 minutes drive. Our favorite was Skiatook because of Mac's BBQ, Mac's BBQ what a find! The other towns Pawhuska (town of the Pioneer Woman) and a bit further was Bartlesville. We recommend the Birch Cove campground and we would return if it wasn't 6 hours from our home. The drive for us is the only reason we would not return.
