The campground offers a variety of camping experiences, including sites for RVs and tents, as well as family vacation cabins, catering to diverse preferences and group sizes.
One of the recurring themes from customer reviews highlights the park's appeal for family gatherings and its overall cleanliness and beauty. A long-time visitor noted, "My family is large and all over the US and our dad is buried in the National cemetery in Dayton so, we have a family camp every year at Buck Creek. It's close enough to go to Dayton for Memorial day. As our family is mostly senior citizens we rent the cabins. The younger generation members use tents or campers. The park is amazing. It's clean and very picturesque. The staff are wonderful and friendly. The cabins are always very clean and fully stocked. Bring your clothes, personal hygiene stuff and food. Campgrounds are also clean." This comprehensive review underscores the park's ability to host multi-generational groups comfortably across various accommodation types and its consistent upkeep.
While the lake is consistently praised for its beauty and the abundance of activities, some reviews also offer constructive feedback. One camper mentioned, "Sites are very narrow and crowded but the lake is beautiful. Lots to do. The playground and outdoor theater are great for kids. The volleyball area and basketball court are great for all ages. Its a great place for a weekend getaway." This indicates that while the park is rich in amenities and natural appeal, site spacing might be a consideration for some campers, particularly those with larger RVs or a preference for more seclusion.

As a public campground managed by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR), Buck Creek State Park Campground generally adheres to a standardized fee structure for its campsites and cabins, rather than offering frequent, commercially-driven promotions or special discounts. The pricing is set based on factors such as site type (electric/non-electric), season, and duration of stay.
However, while direct "promotions" in the retail sense are uncommon, there are inherent values and potential ways to maximize your experience that could be considered advantageous:
- Reservations System: The ODNR provides a user-friendly online reservation system and a dedicated phone line (866-644-6727). While not a discount, the ability to reserve sites and cabins up to six months in advance is a significant "offer" for popular dates, ensuring you secure your preferred spot, especially for holiday weekends or peak seasons. One Reddit user noted the need to be quick, suggesting to be ready at 6:59 AM exactly six months prior to arrival.
- Value for Money: Compared to private campgrounds or other lodging options, state park camping often provides excellent value, with access to extensive natural resources and amenities included in the reservation fee.
- Senior and Military Discounts: While not universally advertised for all Ohio State Park campgrounds, it is always advisable for seniors and military personnel to inquire directly when making reservations. Some state park systems offer such discounts, and while not explicitly stated for Buck Creek, it's worth asking.
- Off-Season Rates: Camping during the off-season (e.g., late fall, winter, early spring) typically offers lower rates and fewer crowds, which can be seen as a form of value proposition, though some amenities like the camp store might have reduced hours or be closed.
For the most accurate and up-to-date information on pricing, availability, and any potential, albeit rare, specific offers, contacting the central reservation line at (866) 644-6727 or visiting the official ODNR website for Buck Creek State Park is the recommended course of action.

Customer Reviews
Could not find the hours to the store. We were there at 9:00am and left at 9:35am. Still no one there. Was hoping for an early morning coffee. We were told later that they were open but by then we were off for the day. So never got to visit the inside of the camp store. Sites are very narrow and crowded but the lake is beautiful. Lots to do. The playground and outdoor theater are great for kids. The volleyball area and basketball court are great for all ages. Its a great place for w weekend getaway.
My family is large and all over the US and our dad is buried in the National cemetery in Dayton so, we have a family camp every year at Buck Creek. Campgrounds are also clean. Water is available throughout the camping areas. There are playgrounds for the kiddos, laundry facilities and restrooms with hot water showers conveniently located all through the camping areas. We'll keep on going as long as we're able. ps. Our matriarch will be 90 years old the 16th of June.
Nice park. Space 6 was spacious with lots of green space and easy access to the Lake Trail, which is more of a wooded trail that goes around the lake with limited lake views. Electric only - no water or sewer. Nice beach area and short trip to groceries at Kroger or Walmart. Saw a variety of birds. Dog friendly. Quiet and peaceful stay.
This is a beautiful park...very well maintained with roomy sites. We have pretty well self-contained so the Electric Only (30 amp) site was not a problem. I also can't comment on the bathrooms because we have our own to use. We were there in the middle of September, during the week, so it was not too crowded and very quiet. It's very dark at night (no light polution) so it's great for star gazing. There are plenty of water spickets spaced throughout the camping area if you need to fill up. Also, plenty of dumpsters throughout the campground. You can get local TV reception and we had cell service with Verison. We tried some fishing on the reservoir but didn't have any have any luck...but, there are two marinas if you have a boat and they are very nice! If you have a bike, be sure to check out the bike trail that runs along Buck Creek. It's a very picturesque ride (on asphalt) with plenty of waterfowl to checkout. This was our first stop on our trip and Buck Creek State Park sure set the bar high!
We were there to check out the campground for a future camping trip. The sites are roomy and clean for the most part. The main shower house/restrooms are dated, but they were very clean. The campground is small but that's not such a bad thing. The dump station looks dated, but there are plenty of places to fill up with water throughout the park. We are looking forward to camping here in early September.
