For us Tennesseans who cherish our horses and the boundless beauty of our state's natural landscapes, Buck Run Horse Campground LLC is more than just a place to stay—it's a perfect destination that understands and caters specifically to our unique passion. We often seek out experiences that offer both convenience and authenticity, and Buck Run delivers on both fronts.
Its prime location in Jamestown, with direct access to the trails of the Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area, is a significant draw. We know and love these trails, and having a dedicated, horse-friendly base camp so close is invaluable. The promise of "very nice trails" that are "less rocky than most I ride around here" (meaning BSF) is reassuring, allowing us to enjoy our rides with confidence and less concern for our horses' hooves. The "beautiful" trail along the river sounds like exactly the kind of scenic beauty we seek in our own backyard.
What truly sets Buck Run apart for locals, however, is the level of care and detail dedicated to the horses. The "12x12, padded and perfect" stalls, described as "Big covered and roomy with mats," demonstrate an understanding of what equestrians truly need. We appreciate knowing our horses are safe, comfortable, and dry, even if the unpredictable Tennessee weather decides to act up. The provision of "everything needed for stall cleaning" and multiple hoses further illustrates this thoughtfulness, making the practical aspects of horse care effortless during our stay.
Beyond the equine amenities, the "huge and level pull through sites" with "water/electric at sites" cater perfectly to our RVs and trailers, ensuring an easy setup after a journey. And while we head into nature to disconnect, having "wi-fi if you are close enough to the office" offers a comforting touch, allowing us to stay connected if necessary without detracting from the "quiet camp" atmosphere.
Finally, the consistent praise for the "awesome and very responsive" owners speaks volumes. As Tennesseans, we value genuine hospitality and helpfulness. Knowing that the people running the campground are dedicated to ensuring a great experience makes all the difference. It's this combination of exceptional equine facilities, comfortable human amenities, unparalleled trail access, and warm, responsive ownership that makes Buck Run Horse Campground LLC the ideal choice for any Tennessee local looking for a truly enriching and hassle-free horse camping adventure. We will definitely return, just like so many others.
Customer Reviews
I loved this camp! The pull through sites were huge and level. Each site had a new picnic table and a fire ring. The stalls were 12x12, padded and perfect to keep your horse safe. The camp is clean, has wi-fi if you are close enough to the office, and water/electric at sites. They had everything needed for stall cleaning and more, and several hoses at the ends of the stalls. It rained hard one day and no water got into my stall. The trails were very nice with some rocks but nothing major. I would still use shoes or boots anywhere in BSF but I found the trails less rocky than most I ride around here. The sights were very pretty and the trail that goes along the river as shown in the video was beautiful. This is a quiet camp with everything I needed and wanted for a one week stay with friends. The owners were awesome and very responsive to all of us. I will definitely return. ♥️
Great owners who have put in a lot of work to make this horse campground. Big covered and roomy stalls with mats for your horses. Pull through camp sites with shade. Nice trails too. Will definitely return for another camp out with our horses!
I absolutely LOVE this campground! The horse stalls are huge and have rubber mats! The water pressure is great and the WiFi was strong. The camp host, Karen, went above and beyond for us, and even our dogs had a blast. There's miles of good local trails, plus the Big South Fork trails right around the corner. I wish I could give more than 5 stars. We will 100% be back.
Love Buck Run! The stalls are roomy, well built. No horse shenanigans with neighbors but allow good air flow. The sites are also roomy, pull through and level. Water pressure excellent. Probably the best wi-fi I've had in a campground. Trails are very close and several BSF trails are accessed from camp. The river is stunning! Hippy Cave and Fiddler's Arch are very close. Owners, Karen and Jay were wonderful. Karen made us Tee shirts and delivered them to our sites! I highly recommend Buck Run!
We had a wonderful time at Buck Run Horse Campground, which is located in Spruce Creek Acres equestrian neighborhood and has access to trails within about 300 yards from our campsite. The owners Karen and Jay are very accommodating and friendly. The campground is a work in progress. They currently have about seven or eight sites and we used corrals for our horses, but the are building two-stall, covered barns for each site. They have preserved as many trees as possible so the campground is overall very shaded. The sites all have water and electric hook-ups and it was not at all difficult to get our rig level. There is a dump station on site and they sell ice. I am coming back in July and am looking forward to watching this campground evolve.
