For Texans embarking on cross-country road trips, exploring the diverse landscapes of the state, or simply needing a comfortable and convenient stopover, RV parks and campgrounds play a crucial role. In the northern reaches of Texas, near the city of Wichita Falls, the Burkburnett / Wichita Falls KOA Journey offers a well-known and reliable option for travelers. As part of the extensive KOA network, this campground is designed to provide essential amenities and a comfortable stay for RVers and campers alike. This article will delve into what makes the Burkburnett / Wichita Falls KOA Journey a suitable choice for locals in the Texas region, covering its strategic location, available services, key features, and insights from actual visitor experiences.

The KOA Journey brand is specifically tailored for travelers who need a convenient and accessible place to stop for a night or two while on the road. This means you can typically expect level sites, easy access to major highways, and essential services that cater to the needs of those passing through. While it might not be a destination campground with extensive recreational activities, its strength lies in its practicality and reliability. For many Texans, a KOA provides a familiar and trusted environment for their RV or camping needs.

Reviews from past guests offer valuable insights into the experience at this particular KOA. Visitors have appreciated the level, concrete pull-thru sites, which are highly convenient for RVs, and the overall quiet atmosphere of the park. However, some feedback has pointed to inconsistencies with the hot water in the showers, a common amenity that can significantly impact a traveler's comfort. Additionally, the deluxe cabins have received positive remarks for their comfort and amenities, presenting a good alternative to tent camping or even hotel stays. This overview aims to provide a factual and balanced perspective, allowing prospective visitors to set appropriate expectations and plan their stay effectively at the Burkburnett / Wichita Falls KOA Journey.

The Burkburnett / Wichita Falls KOA Journey is strategically located at 1202 E 3rd St, Burkburnett, TX 76354, USA. This address places the campground directly within Burkburnett, a city just north of Wichita Falls, situated close to the Oklahoma border. The primary advantage of this location is its excellent accessibility. It lies very close to U.S. Route 287, a major highway that serves as a key artery for travel through North Texas, connecting to Fort Worth and Dallas to the south and extending northward into Oklahoma. This makes it an ideal stop for those traveling long distances on this route, offering convenient "on-route" access without significant detours.

We actually stayed here twice in April 2024 on our trip to Utah. It was a level, concrete pull thru site, which was very nice. There is not much to do here, but was on our route. Very quiet. Downside were the showers. There were several stalls, so finding an unoccupied shower was no problem. However, the hot-cold water balance was impossible to achieve in both the men's and women's side. The water never got hot for my wife, so she wasn't happy. The men's was either scalding or freezing and the change took 1-2 minutes, so just when you thought you had it set properly, it would change to scalding or freezing again! We spoke with the campground folks and they told us that the valves were opposite of what was indicated for hot or cold. If you want a warm water experience, get your shower elsewhere. The worst KOA showers we have experienced all across the country.

We booked a deluxe cabin. It appears to be basically a "park model" trailer, rustic wood interior, skirted, with a spacious wood deck, and a gas barbecue grill. It has dishes and flatware (forks etc.), a full sized fridge, kitchen sink, decent counter space, a dining table, a futon/couch in the living room with clean sheets, a nice bathroom, and a bedroom with a door. We really liked it. Nice lawn outside and a large enough gravel parking area. Negatives: the vinyl floor needed a good mopping with Mr. Clean or similar, and the hot water for the shower was quite bipolar....warm, hot, cold, warmer. For three showers in a row. But that aside, for campers who might normally use a tent or book the small cabin with no bathroom (go to the toilet block by the office), this place beats even a hotel room, with the added benefit of having your vehicle right outside your door. We have stayed here 5 times.

Stayed for the weekend with several others for a baseball tournament. They accommodated us and were able to put us all right next to each other. We stayed on one of the concrete pad sites, was great! Staff was super nice. Overall great stay! Would definitely stay again.

**Review for KOA Campground** I recently stayed at this KOA and had a mixed experience. The location is great—it's a smaller, quiet campground with easy access to the interstate, which made it convenient for traveling. The staff were friendly and accommodating, which I appreciated. That said, there were a few downsides. Stickers (or burrs) were all over the place and somehow made their way into my socks—a small annoyance but worth noting. The bathroom code didn’t work, making the bathroom inaccessible, which was frustrating. When I mentioned it, I was offered an efficiency cabin as an alternative. Unfortunately, the cabin smelled strongly of cigarette smoke and didn’t feel clean, so I opted to go back to my original campervan spot. Overall, it’s not a bad place if you’re looking for a quiet spot to rest, but there’s room for improvement in maintenance and accessibility.
