If you're a Missourian seeking a premier outdoor destination that offers a diverse array of activities, from high-energy challenges to peaceful nature immersion, Camp Lewallen deserves your attention. While primarily known for its Scouting programs, the essence of the camp—its stunning natural setting, well-maintained facilities, and commitment to outdoor adventure—makes it an appealing destination for anyone looking to experience the beauty of our state’s wilderness. The camp’s long-standing reputation for having the "best camp staff in the entire council" speaks volumes about the quality of instruction and care provided, ensuring that every participant, whether a scout or visitor, has a positive and enriching time.
Imagine days filled with exhilarating activities like scaling a climbing tower, navigating the serene waters of the St. Francis River in a kayak, or sharpening skills at the shooting range. Picture evenings spent around a campfire, sharing stories under a blanket of stars. Camp Lewallen offers all this and more, truly living up to its description as a "little slice of paradise." It’s a place where traditional outdoor skills meet modern comforts, making it accessible and enjoyable for a wide range of participants.
For those of us in Missouri, having such a well-regarded and activity-rich outdoor facility within our borders is a true asset. It provides an accessible means to connect with nature, challenge oneself, and create cherished memories, reinforcing our state’s reputation as a fantastic destination for outdoor enthusiasts.
Camp Lewallen is strategically located at 1588 Wayne Route K, Silva, MO 63964, USA. This address places it deep within the scenic Ozark Plateau, a region renowned for its rugged beauty, rolling hills, and abundant forests. More specifically, the camp is nestled directly within the expansive Mark Twain National Forest, offering an immersive natural environment that is both secluded and richly biodiverse. For anyone in Missouri looking for a genuine wilderness experience, this location is ideal, providing direct access to extensive trails and untouched natural landscapes.
The camp's position along Wayne Route K suggests a well-maintained road access that can accommodate various types of vehicles, including those bringing large groups of scouts or equipment. While it offers a sense of being "away from it all," it's generally accessible from major routes within Missouri, making it a convenient destination for families and groups traveling from different parts of the state. Driving through the Mark Twain National Forest to reach Camp Lewallen is an experience in itself, with winding roads offering glimpses of Missouri's stunning natural beauty.
Beyond its immediate surroundings, the camp's location provides excellent opportunities for exploring the wider region. Its proximity to the St. Francis River allows for direct access to water activities like kayaking and canoeing, a significant draw for outdoor enthusiasts. The "mountain trails" mentioned in reviews indicate that the area is perfect for hiking and exploring the varied topography of the Ozarks. Being in the heart of the Mark Twain National Forest also means campers are surrounded by vast tracts of public land, offering endless possibilities for adventure and exploration beyond the camp's boundaries.
In essence, Camp Lewallen’s location is a perfect blend of wilderness immersion and practical accessibility, making it a prime spot for outdoor education and recreation within Missouri.
As a prominent Boy Scout camp primarily focused on delivering structured programs, Camp Lewallen typically operates on a set fee schedule for its summer programs and other events rather than offering traditional "promotions or special offers" in the commercial sense. The value provided comes from the comprehensive program, experienced staff, and access to unique facilities and activities, which are encompassed in the registration fees. These fees usually cover lodging, meals, program materials, and instruction for the duration of a camp session.
While specific discounts for early registration or multi-session bookings might be available at certain times, these are generally communicated directly through the Boy Scouts of America, Greater St. Louis Area Council, or via Camp Lewallen's official channels rather than general public promotions. Given its focus on Scouting, any "offers" would likely be tied to membership or specific program enrollments.
For individuals or groups not affiliated with Scouting who might be interested in utilizing the facilities (e.g., for non-Scouting events, retreats, or private cabin/campsite rentals if available outside of primary programming), it would be necessary to contact the camp directly to inquire about availability and rates. It's plausible that during off-peak seasons or outside of core Scouting activities, there might be opportunities for private rentals, though this information is not explicitly provided in the reviews.
Therefore, for the most accurate and up-to-date information regarding pricing, program fees, and any potential availability for non-Scouting related stays or group bookings, interested parties should reach out to Camp Lewallen directly using the contact information provided.

This is my 7th year attending! The scouts have such a wonderful time at Camp Lewallen. Definitely the best camp staff in the entire council! Lots of awesome merit badges and activities to choose from. The hike up Mt Logan is so cool. Kayaking on the St Francis River is awesome and the shooting range is a blast! The Scouts love the new 12-person hammock stands and the new shower houses. And last but not least, the climbing tower is always a huge hit with all the scouts!
