Camp Sulam: An Overview of the Warrensburg Retreat Location
For New York-based organizations, groups, and programs seeking a large-scale retreat or summer camping facility within the scenic Adirondack region, Camp Sulam in Warrensburg, NY, presents a significant location. While Camp Sulam is closely associated with educational and travel programs—specifically programs focusing on immersive experiences that often include outdoor adventure and spiritual growth, such as those operated by Camp Morasha—the physical address in Warrensburg indicates a key base of operations or an affiliated facility within the sought-after Lake George area.
It is important for potential users, particularly New York organizations looking to book or utilize this specific campground facility, to understand its nature. This location primarily serves as a venue for organized groups, camps, and youth programs, rather than a traditional public campground offering individual nightly tent or RV sites to the general public. Its purpose is to host and facilitate large-scale, structured summer experiences, making it a specialized and often fully booked facility during peak season.
The facility benefits from its proximity to major natural attractions and wilderness areas, allowing its programs to incorporate intense outdoor activities, such as high-altitude hikes. However, it is essential that all visiting groups adhere to the principles of responsible outdoor behavior. A recent public concern raised by the Hadley Mountain Fire Tower Committee highlights the critical need for groups using the camp, including those on organized excursions, to ensure all participants are thoroughly trained in 'Leave No Trace' principles to preserve the fragile beauty of the Adirondack wilderness.
Location and Accessibility
Camp Sulam is situated in the historic and geographically crucial town of Warrensburg, New York. The physical address places it directly along a well-trafficked state route, offering excellent access for groups traveling from the New York metropolitan area, the Hudson Valley, and the Capital Region.
The official address is: 675 NY-418, Warrensburg, NY 12885, USA.
Located on NY-418, the facility is positioned within a short driving distance from the primary interstate artery of the region, I-87 (the Northway). This ensures relatively straightforward travel for buses and group vehicles. Warrensburg serves as a convenient gateway to the Adirondack Park, and the specific location places the facility near the Schroon River and numerous areas for local recreation.
Critically for organizations, the location offers a perfect launchpad for day trips to major Adirondack destinations. The vibrant resort town of Lake George Village is just a short drive away, providing access to essential amenities, shopping, and major tourist attractions. The surrounding area offers numerous opportunities for hiking, kayaking, zip-lining, and other high-adventure activities that are often integrated into large youth camp programs. Its setting provides the rustic, immersive environment of the Adirondacks while maintaining proximity to key infrastructure.

While specific public-facing recreational amenity lists for individual transient campers are not typically provided by this type of group facility, a venue designed to host large summer camp programs, such as those associated with Camp Sulam, generally includes comprehensive infrastructure to support hundreds of participants. The services offered are focused on large group functionality, logistics, and programming:

The primary value proposition of Camp Sulam lies in its capacity and setting as a dedicated venue for large, organized summer programs. Its features are tailored to creating an immersive and extensive camp experience:

Address: 675 NY-418, Warrensburg, NY 12885, USA
The provided information includes an address but no public-facing general contact number for the facility itself. For New York-based organizations interested in utilizing this venue, it is highly recommended to contact the specific summer camp or program (such as Camp Morasha) that is affiliated with and operates out of this location, as they control the scheduling and operations of the facility.
Note: Public records associated with this address primarily point to organized summer youth programs. Direct contact information for the site manager is generally restricted to the operational season or provided only to affiliated organizations.
Conclusion: Why This Place is Suitable for Locals
For New York residents—not as individual campers, but as parents, youth group leaders, or administrators of structured organizations—the Warrensburg location of Camp Sulam is exceptionally suitable. It serves a vital role by providing an expansive, fully equipped setting for large, often specialized, youth programs originating from New York’s metropolitan areas. This facility allows these organizations to deliver immersive summer experiences that are geographically accessible to their target audience and are set within the magnificent, nature-rich environment of the Adirondack Park.
The ability to host a structured program with extensive amenities and a full itinerary of educational and recreational activities, all within a reasonable driving distance of key population centers, is the central appeal. This camp allows New York families to send their children to an enriching summer program without having to leave the state. It represents a specialized segment of the local tourism and recreation economy, serving as a dedicated hub for high-quality, large-scale youth development and organized group retreats in a spectacular New York setting.
I’m with the Hadley Mountain Fire Tower Committee. We are a volunteer group that takes care of the Hadley Mountain Fire Tower and trail. Camp Sulam sent 20 campers to camp and stay overnight on the summit last week. They left a giant mess with litter all over the place. This is a wilderness mountain top. It is extremely disappointing that an organized summer camp would be so untrained and so uncaring.
