Introduction / Overview
For residents of Pennsylvania, the Mon Valley area offers a unique blend of natural beauty and accessibility, making it an ideal region for quick getaways. Among the local options for campers and RV enthusiasts is Campground 70, located in Charleroi, PA. This destination has established itself as a straightforward, dependable stop, particularly valued by those who prioritize essential services and a convenient location right off a major interstate. While it might not boast the extensive resort amenities of some larger parks, Campground 70 is recognized by local users for its utility and the warm, helpful disposition of its owners—a feature that consistently earns high praise from those who have stayed there.
This campground offers a simple, no-frills approach to camping, focusing on the core necessities for RV travelers: a place to park with water and electricity. Its proximity to Interstate 70 makes it especially popular for Pennsylvanians needing a quick, hassle-free overnight or short-term stopover, minimizing deviation from their travel path. It's a pragmatic choice for the practical PA traveler, providing the basic infrastructure needed to recharge and continue the journey, or simply enjoy a quiet night in the local area.
Location and Accessibility
Campground 70 boasts a highly strategic location that lives up to its name, offering easy access to Interstate 70. This convenience is a significant advantage for local users across Western Pennsylvania and those traveling through the region. The campground is officially situated at:
824 Bentleyville Rd, Charleroi, PA 15022, USA
For travelers utilizing I-70, the campground is often cited as being near Exit 32B (for SR-917), making it incredibly simple to pull off the highway for the night and get back on the road the next day. This exceptional accessibility is a defining characteristic of the location. Charleroi is located roughly 25 miles west of New Stanton, PA, and about 15 miles east of Washington, PA, placing it centrally within the Washington County/Mon Valley region. While its proximity to I-70 is convenient, local drivers should be prepared for the final approach, as some customer reports mention that the access roads leading directly to the campground may be narrow and winding. The surrounding area, however, offers proximity to local points of interest like Mingo Creek County Park for hiking and the Monongahela River for water activities, providing options for outdoor recreation just a short drive away.
Services Offered
Campground 70 provides a focused set of services that cater primarily to RV and mobile campers who are largely self-sufficient. The value proposition here is the provision of fundamental hookups in a convenient location. Based on customer feedback and public data, the primary services available include:
It is important for prospective guests to note, as reported by other campers, that the facility operates on a minimal amenity model. Visitors should be prepared to use their own facilities, as public restrooms, showers, picnic tables, and fire pits are generally reported as unavailable or non-operational. This basic structure allows the campground to focus on providing reliable hookups and accessible service.
Features / Highlights
The true highlights of Campground 70 often lie in its practical advantages and the quality of its management, which shines through in customer testimonials:
While the sites are noted to be on hills and may require leveling, the strong reputation for friendly service and the critical hookup availability outweigh the lack of typical recreation amenities for many local users.
Contact Information
For current pricing, availability, and specific directions, local users are encouraged to contact the campground directly. Note that various public sources list different phone numbers. It is best to use the most recently confirmed numbers for direct contact.
Address: 824 Bentleyville Rd, Charleroi, PA 15022, USA
Phone: (724) 678-9694
Mobile Phone: +1 724-678-9694
Other public information may list an alternative number, (724) 239-2737, which may also be a viable contact point. Due to the minimal on-site office structure, it may be necessary to leave a message, and the owners will often meet guests upon arrival.
Conclusion: Why this place is suitable for locals
Campground 70 is uniquely suitable for Pennsylvania residents, particularly those in the Southwestern region, for several clear reasons. First and foremost is its pure utility as a convenient, strategically located RV stop. For Western PA residents heading East or West on I-70, or simply seeking a quick weekend base to explore the Mon Valley, the campground’s immediate accessibility is a massive time-saver. It bypasses the complexity of navigating deep into the countryside, offering a quick on-and-off from the interstate.
Secondly, the positive local reputation regarding the owners is a compelling draw. In a community-focused state like Pennsylvania, the willingness of the owners to offer genuine, personal assistance, as noted in customer reviews, fosters a sense of trust and local connection. This service-oriented approach provides peace of mind, especially for RVers who occasionally encounter unexpected issues on the road. While the campground is best suited for those in RVs or campers who do not require extensive amenities like showers, restrooms, or recreation halls, it reliably delivers the essentials: power, water, and sewer connections. For locals who are self-sufficient campers, the reasonable rates for essential services and the warm, helpful welcome make Campground 70 a highly pragmatic and reliable choice in the Charleroi, PA area for any short-term or overnight stay.

All the sites are on hills. W/E only as far as I can tell. I don't know if there is a dump station or not. No office anymore. The owner came walking across the grass when he saw us pull in. $32 is what we paid, camped on a hill side. Park is for sale. 3 owners are all elderly and ready to quit. Empty buildings that used to be office and a shower house. Have to use your own facilities if you stay here. No pucn7c tables or fire pits. You only get water and electric for your money. A little hard to get to also. Narrow, winding roads. I would stay elsewhere if ever in the area again.
Sep 29, 2021 · Pam SteinacherThe owners are so kind! We were in a pinch after Flying J in Smithton did not have their water turned on or anyone to fill propane. After calling a few places, Campground 70 told us to stop by and they would help us out. I HIGHLY recommend this place!
Oct 12, 2018 · Lizzy SamCheapest spots around, but with that comes compromise. We'd been parked for about a month when our water started smelling like rotten eggs. We called the owner to see if anyone else had the same problem (we were previously told that the whole park runs off of a well on the property) and he said no one had said anything. Left it at that, suggested that our hot water tank had an issue. But the "stinky water" wasnt only when you ran hot, it was all the time. The problem has continued to get worse to the point that when you turn on the water it almost makes you gag. Its so strong. We asked neighbors and they said they have the same problem. In a few days time our shower was coated in what was almost a rubbery yellow/orange texture. It took ALOT of scrubbing with a magic eraser to get it off. Toilet bowl is stained. I understand sometimes you cant help but have hard water but the least you can do it be up front with your tenants about the issue. Quiet park. We weren't impressed with the lack of honesty.
Jul 02, 2019 · Kelcey HamiltonAs indicated by this campgrounds name, it's close to i-70. Suited my overnight stay with water, electric, sewer and allowed pets. No other amenities ie, picnic tables, toilets, showers or pool. Grass and gravel parking spots, not level but not a big deal since I have a compressor refrigerator. Campground was surprisingly full, I believe most campers were long-term summer residents with all their toys (kayaks, Razors, boats, etc.) New Eagle Riverfront Park is within 4.5 miles and has deep boat ramp.
Aug 16, 2019 · Life with SpockNot sure I wanted to do business with a place that has no web site but I made the call anyway. I was talking to some hilly billy from southern West Virginia. All she wanted to know was do I have a dog. Done deal, Walmart parking lot seems better.
