Captain Andy's Campground focuses on providing essential services for campers, particularly those in RVs or campers, with a strong emphasis on personalized attention and flexibility:
-
RV/Camper Sites: The campground offers sites for RVs and campers. While explicit details on hookups (electric, water, sewer) aren't detailed in the provided reviews, the mention of "a site with any hookups" implies that hookup options are typically available for most sites. The camp was full during a busy period, suggesting popular demand for their standard sites.
-
Flexible Stays: Captain Andy's caters to various stay durations, as evidenced by a reviewer who stayed for "7 months" and another looking for "long term, short term, or a quick stopover." This flexibility makes it suitable for both transient visitors and those seeking an extended stay.
-
Accommodation for No-Hookup Needs: Uniquely, Captain Andy demonstrated flexibility by offering a free spot in the boat trailer parking area for a camper who did not need hookups, showcasing an accommodating and guest-first approach, especially during peak times.
-
Pet-Friendly Environment: Reviews mention guests traveling with their "dogs," indicating that Captain Andy's Campground is pet-friendly, a significant advantage for many campers.
-
Personalized Assistance: A standout service is the direct, personalized assistance from Captain Andy himself. This includes helping with site selection, general inquiries, and, as remarkably illustrated, even providing supplies for a seafood boil when a guest needed them.
-
Community Atmosphere: While not a formal service, the "family-like" and welcoming atmosphere created by Captain Andy and his daughter is a key part of the offering, fostering a sense of belonging among guests.
The defining features and highlights of Captain Andy's Campground stem largely from the character of its ownership and its coastal setting:
-
Exceptional Southern Hospitality: This is arguably the most significant highlight. Captain Andy is described as a "super great guy" and the "epitome of true southern hospitality," going above and beyond to assist guests, even offering free stays and food. His daughter is also noted as "very friendly."
-
Personalized Guest Experience: Guests receive individual attention, creating a memorable and pleasant stay that feels more like visiting friends than staying at a commercial campground.
-
Proximity to Calabash Seafood: Being in Calabash means easy access to the town's world-famous fresh seafood restaurants, a major draw for food enthusiasts.
-
Coastal Location Advantages: The campground's location allows for easy trips to nearby beaches (like Sunset Beach and Ocean Isle Beach), opportunities for fishing (both inshore and offshore), and access to coastal waterways for boating and kayaking.
-
Potential for Quiet Enjoyment: While one review noted a "block party" with loud music, the general expectation for a place described as a "nice quiet place to live" (initially) suggests that peaceful enjoyment is often the norm, perhaps dependent on specific neighbors.
-
Memorable Encounters: The willingness of Captain Andy to share his "wonderful seafood boil" creates a unique and unforgettable experience for guests, solidifying the campground's distinct identity.
-
Flexibility for Different Stay Lengths: The ability to accommodate both short-term and long-term campers provides versatility for various travel needs.
Given the highly personalized and hospitable nature of Captain Andy's Campground, traditional, publicly advertised promotions in the form of discounts or package deals may not be its primary mode of operation. Instead, the "special offer" is often the unparalleled level of service and genuine hospitality provided by Captain Andy himself.
However, for those inquiring, it is always recommended to:
-
Call Directly: The best way to understand pricing, availability, and any potential flexibility for extended stays or unique situations is to contact Captain Andy's Campground by phone. Their numbers are (910) 579-2050 or +1 910-579-2050. This direct communication is likely where any "special" arrangements would be discussed.
-
Inquire About Long-Term Rates: Given their accommodation of "7 months" stays, there are likely specific rates or arrangements for extended periods that would be discussed upon inquiry.
The most significant "promotion" appears to be the authentic, caring experience that often goes beyond monetary value, as highlighted by a guest receiving free accommodation and a seafood boil.

Customer Reviews
We moved our camper out here hoping to have a nice quiet place to live and it was ok the first few days then we came home to the block party . These people with this white Jeep act like everyone wants to hear and feel their music. My dog dose nothing but cry because she is scared to death from the loud music. Captain Andy is a super great guy and his daughter is very friendly lady. The only complaint is t drunk ladies with the white Jeep and their loud music
I and my dogs rolled in to Captain Andy place somewhat later in the evening right before the 4th of July, not surprisingly Andy's place was full and he could not offer Mia site with any hookups, when I told him that I did not need any and that my camper was set up for me and my dogs and because it was getting later in the evening Andy being the southern gentleman that he is, offered to let me park where the boat trailers are generally Park during the day, on top of that, he actually offered to let me and my dogs stay there for free! Simply because he did not have any available spots that had hookups for campers. On top of that, when I asked him where the nearest store was to get some supplies to cook dinner that night he asked me what I needed and then told me not to bother going to the store and actually gave me for free the stuff that I need it to have a wonderful shrimp boil off the tailgate of my camper! No joke Andy is the epitome of true southern hospitality! If you go there and I really recommend that you do, make friends with Andy and ask him for some of his wonderful seafood boil there's nothing quite like it that I have ever found throughout the South the east the Midwest and the West. Quite simply put, on my 4000 mile Odyssey with my dogs while exploring places we have never been I can say hands down Andy place has stuck in my mind more than any other to say the least. Thank you again captain I will see you again you have my word on that! Steve from Colorado in the silver Dog House Dodge diesel.
