Promotions or Special Offers

As a recreation site managed by the USDA Forest Service within the Ouachita National Forest, Cedar Lake Recreation Site typically operates with set fee structures rather than offering seasonal promotions or discounts in the commercial sense. The value proposition of this campground lies in its consistent affordability for accessing high-quality outdoor recreation in a stunning natural setting. While specific "special offers" like "buy one night, get one free" are not part of their operational model, the reasonable daily rates for both primitive and amenity-rich sites make it an ongoing attractive option for locals.

For instance, current fees are typically:

  • North Shore (primitive, no hookups): Daily rates are generally lower.
  • South Shore (electric and water hookups): Daily rates are slightly higher to account for the added amenities.

Exact pricing should always be confirmed directly with the Ouachita National Forest (Oklahoma Ranger District) or via their official Recreation.gov listing, as fees can occasionally be adjusted. However, the consistent feedback from campers regarding the "very reasonable price" underscores the continuous value offered by Cedar Lake Recreation Site. The excellent maintenance, quiet atmosphere, and friendly camp hosts further enhance this value, providing a premium experience without a premium price tag. For any potential group bookings or special events, contacting the forest service directly would be the best approach to inquire about any specific arrangements or permits needed.

We stayed at the North Shore campground, site 54, March 7-15, 2025. This is a rustic campground, in that the sites do not have electric or water, but there is running water in the bath houses/restrooms, and there are water spigots throughout the campground. It is very quiet and peaceful, very well maintained, clean, and there is no unnecessary lighting around the campground - no giant poles with bright lights along the road or at the buildings. The minimal lighting is a huge plus for us!! The camp hosts are awesome, and so is their dog, Buddy, who paid us a visit that we thoroughly enjoyed. I'm rating it at 4 stars ONLY because I would have liked to know, prior to booking online, that my site was merely a stone's throw from the boat ramp and trailer parking. No one was disruptive, but it would have been nice to know before hand.

The south shore has electric and water and nice concrete pads. The shower house takes awhile to warm up and the cell service is bad. Could get text and calls but no interest search.

Very beautiful and peaceful. Surrounded by mountains and in the middle is the lake. A very beautiful and photographic landscape. The campsites are a little small and too close to each other, but we were fortunate that the day we camped there was no one around us. The restrooms are clean and have hot showers. The trails are nearby and very good for hiking. Lots of space for parking. The first come first serve basis of campsite booking is also a nice to have feature. Would definitely recommend this.

This is by far my favorite camping area. It's family and dog friendly. The tent sites on North Shore are very spacious and clean. The bathrooms have showers and are kept pretty clean. The swimming areas are nice. I highly recommend this place.

spent 3 nights here tents camping. real quiet place, we went in the middle of the week but there were no other campers in the whole area the entire stay. We camped close to the boat launch and over the entire stay 7 or 8 boaters/fishers came and went. The whole area was well kept and clean and Nicholas, the host/ area manager i believe was responsible for the immaculate upkeep. real nice guy for what it’s worth and very knowledgeable about the area.
