Granite State Campground: Your Central Hub for Lakes Region Exploration
For many New Hampshire residents, the Lakes Region is the ultimate destination for year-round recreation, and finding the perfect, convenient place to stay is key to a successful getaway. Granite State Campground in Belmont, NH, stands as a practical and welcoming choice, offering a diverse range of accommodations for those looking to explore the heart of the Granite State.
Operating since 1969, this small, independently owned and operated campground has a rich history, previously known as "Jerry-Lee's Campground." While it has evolved over the decades, the commitment to providing a clean, accessible, and functional base for campers remains. The owners have invested significantly in recent years, focusing on rebuilding and updating the facilities to meet the modern camper's needs, proudly offering beautiful new bathhouses and laundry facilities. This isn't necessarily a "deep woods, rustic" experience, but rather a functional and friendly central hub, perfectly suited for active people who spend their days exploring the incredible natural playground that surrounds Belmont.
Whether you're bringing a massive RV, a simple tent, or prefer the convenience of a rustic cabin, Granite State Campground accommodates you. It's a no-frills, clean, and well-managed site that prioritizes essential amenities and convenient access over sprawling acreage and on-site entertainment programs. This is the spot for the practical, active New Hampshire resident who needs a secure, well-run, and functional place to call home base after a long day of boating, hiking, or exploring the cultural and natural beauty that makes the Lakes Region famous. Great small campground. A couple of tent sights are tiny, but most have plenty of room and compare well to other campgrounds we've stayed. That being said, it is right off the highway. This is not a "in the woods" campground. It suits us just fine as we are active people and only spend nights by the fire before bed. Restrooms and bath houses are super clean and well maintained. There is even a place to do laundry, which is really convenient. The site I originally booked was too small for us, and they immediately accommodated our needs. I highly recommend it.
Jun 27, 2025 · Vicki BennettI feel bad giving 3 stars because I can see the effort and care that went into this place, but it’s also been maximized for capacity, at a great loss. The tent sites are literally on top of each other. No privacy. No sound barriers. The sound of the highway and the house next door (on the other side of the thin layer of trees) really detracts from a camping experience. There’s nothing to do. No trails, no water front, nothing. Half the “campground” is year round tiny homes? Yes, the bathrooms are nice. Donny was nice at check-in. But I was hoping for more of a rustic / quiet camping experience. None of the reviews reflect this, so I’m making sure it’s known .. this is a very small parcel of land with a maximum number of campsites on it. Thank goodness the campsite above mine was unavailable. I would have heard them swallow their food.
Sep 02, 2024 · Katy MurrayWell maintained campground and facilities. The tent area toilet and shower were clean. Fire wood a bit wet, but managed to get decent fires. Nice and somehow quiet spot. Thanks
Sep 07, 2025 · Loïc AubinStayed at the campground for 2 weeks and the staff was extremely friendly and hospitable. The facilities were always clean, smelling good and fully stocked along with the entire campground. Fellow campers were also friendly too. Highly recommend this place for the night or longer!
Sep 02, 2024 · Ryan LaVoieThe best shower I have ever had when camping. Was a nice smaller camp ground about 15 minutes north of NHMS . The tent sights are fairly new towards the front of the camp ground.
