Introduction / Overview: Your Peaceful Pocono RV Retreat
For RV enthusiasts across Pennsylvania seeking a quiet, clean, and amenity-rich destination in the beautiful Pocono Mountains, Clayton Park RV Escape stands out as a premier choice. Nestled in the quiet hills of the Pocono Lake Region, this seasonal RV park and boat launch rests on a quarter mile of scenic shoreline on beautiful Lake Henry. More than just a place to park your rig, Clayton Park is a dedicated escape—a third-generation, family-owned and operated facility committed to preserving a century of tradition focused on memorable outdoor experiences.
The park's mission is clear: to offer a peaceful respite from the chaos of everyday life, prioritizing relaxation, connection with nature, and a strong sense of community. Unlike large, crowded resorts with jam-packed activity schedules, Clayton Park is characterized by a "very quiet, very peaceful, very clean" atmosphere, as noted by enthusiastic guests. It caters to a range of RV sizes, from small trailers up to large Class A motorhomes, including those up to 43 feet towing other vehicles, thanks to its meticulously maintained, big-rig-friendly pull-through sites.
Guests consistently rave about the cleanliness, the quality of the facilities—from the bathhouses to the heated pool—and the evident care the dedicated hosts put into the grounds. Security is also a top feature, with the property operating as a private, gated community. Open seasonally from approximately May 1st through October 15th, Clayton Park RV Escape provides the ideal destination for Pennsylvania residents looking for a tranquil home base to explore the region or settle in for a relaxing seasonal stay.
Location and Accessibility for Pennsylvania Residents
Clayton Park RV Escape is conveniently located at 26 Eagle Eye Dr, Lake Ariel, PA 18436, placing it in Northeastern Pennsylvania's Wayne County, an easily accessible part of the Pocono Mountains region. The location is strategic for Pennsylvania travelers coming from various parts of the state, especially those utilizing the major interstate system.
The park is approximately seven miles from Interstate 84 (I-84), making it a suitable stop for travelers passing through or a dedicated weekend getaway destination. While the park is intentionally "off the beaten path" to ensure tranquility, it is central to key regional cities: Scranton, Honesdale, and Carbondale are all within a reasonable driving distance. This central position allows for easy day trips to local attractions, dining, shopping, and natural features like nearby waterfalls, Montage's water park, and various wineries and cideries.
For those driving large RVs, the owners specifically advise using I-84 and taking Exit 8 for Mt. Cobb/Hamlin, and caution against certain routes, such as Route 6, due to steep hills. The final approach involves a quaint, slightly narrow country road, which ultimately leads to the secure, gated entrance of the park. This blend of seclusion and connectivity ensures local users can quickly transition from busy life to peaceful lakeside relaxation.

Our experience at Clayton RV Escape was excellent. We visited many campgrounds, and were astounded at the cleanliness, decor, and care of the grounds. Live entertainment on Saturday evening, excellent heated pool, easy lake access with boat rentals. Very quiet, very peaceful, very clean. Our hosts were easy to reach, and obviously committed to ensuring our stay was pleasant. We will certainly be back. Sites available for small trailers to large class A. Picnic tables, chairs, fire pit, and usual hookups.
Jun 22, 2025 · George PalickarMade an overnight stop off the interstate. Had a perfect pull thru the worked perfectly for our 43 class A towing. Did not have to unhook car. We'll kept, peaceful, quite, lake setting gated. A little far off the interstate and don't know anything about things to do in the area, but would definitely come back. Very peaceful!
Aug 18, 2025 · Curtis LocklinThis is a very nice, clean, and quiet park. My wife and I stayed one night in our camper. The bathrooms were immaculate & the showers were clean and hot. The overnight pull through sites are set up a little wonky and are very close together. I felt bad making a fire in our fire pit because it was only about 3 feet from our neighbors camper and the smoke was going right in his window. I also wish that there was some type of grate for the purposes of cooking on the open fire. (Fritz & Robin 8/26)
Aug 30, 2025 · FritzstmireI couldn’t wait to give this review, we have been traveling around the country try for the past month, on our way back to Massachusetts, we decided on one last night in the van and a fire. We have not made many reservations along our trip, it’s off season where we were traveling so it was easy to find a place. I decided to head straight for the RV park, it is located not far off the highway, and very quiet. I pulled up to the gate and pressed the call button, a very nice woman answered the call and seemed surprise. I mentioned that we are just off the road and looking for a spot. She hesitated and said yes. We met her husband who showed us to our spot on the water, he was very nice and we chatted for a bit, I then realized they were closed for the season but opened for us. I was so taken back at their hospitality that’s why I could not wait to make this review. The spot was perfect right on the lake, power and a fire pit, he offered us a crate full of firewood, and asked if there was anything we needed. I walked around the beautiful grounds with perfect camping spots on the lake. The lake was full of geese and herin. The next morning we met at the front gate, thanked him for the amazing hospitality. I will be back here again and I recommend anyone traveling through or spend some time here, you can’t go wrong.
Apr 01, 2025 · bostonh2oWe have been traveling many years throughout the US and this is the nicest RV park we have encountered. Sites are nice and level. We had a lovely patio. The shower was amazing!
