Cove Creek Campground on Dale Hollow Lake, as a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers managed primitive camping area, operates differently from private RV resorts or commercial campgrounds. Therefore, it typically does not offer traditional "promotions" such as discounts, grand opening sales, or loyalty programs. Its value lies in its prime natural setting and direct access to Dale Hollow Lake at a generally affordable rate for primitive camping.

First-Come, First-Served Availability: The nature of its "first-come, first-served" site allocation within a reserved multi-party area means that for those who arrive early or during off-peak times, there’s a good chance of securing a spot. This can be seen as a benefit for spontaneous trips, though it doesn't guarantee a site during busy periods.
-
Federal Recreation Pass Programs (Limited Applicability): While some federal recreation areas honor passes like the America the Beautiful series (e.g., Senior Pass, Access Pass), these usually apply to entrance fees or standard amenity fees, not necessarily to primitive camping fees unless explicitly stated for that specific site. It’s always best to inquire directly with the managing agency if you hold such a pass.
-
Off-Peak Season Value: Reviewers noting that they "pretty much had the place to ourselves" suggest that during certain times, the campground offers exceptional peace and quiet. Visiting during the shoulder seasons (spring or fall) or weekdays can provide a more private and serene experience, which can be a significant value for locals seeking solitude.

Customer Reviews
Surprised there weren't more people down here, pretty much had the place to ourselves. The water was perfect, the beach areas and bathrooms were clean and stocked. AWESOME place if you're in the area to boat, swim, or just sit at the lake.
What a great place to enjoy for a few days. Located on Dale Hollow Lake, this place has camping, fishing, and all kinds of boating activities. One of my new favorite recreation areas to spend some time at. Highly recommended. Edit : Visited there today. Water levels are higher than normal, normally there is a "beach" but because of all the recent weather, things are still a little soggy. Good news is, plenty of campsites available!
The bathrooms are horrible you would think they would keep them up better, other than that it's a good place to tent camp
I seen one single review about the drive in being dangerous, and ignored it because it was only one. That was dumb. It was pretty scary getting in, and then I was pretty panicked to leave and get back out. Definitely don't have 4 wheel drive or a V6/8. There should be a sign before you enter that those things would be a good idea to get in and back out. However.. the camp sites were right on the lake and it was incredibly beautiful. Great rustic camping, pretty sure there was no electric and restrooms were bare minimum. Lots of parking. Seemed very safe to be there and stay.
Can be dangerous as you make your final approach (last few miles.) Road is narrow, curvy and steep.. We were nearly ran off the road by a truck pulling a bass boat going way too fast and taking up the whole road. 🤬 So drive slow and watch for idiots. However, once we arrived we were pleasantly surprised by the number and variety of campsites available. There were sites right next to the water and some nice ones beneath some very large shade trees with a great view of the lake below. We also saw several spigots and a restroom. Seems like it may be a lively place on the weekends for the folks that want to party.?.? We had a great time fishing, walking around and playing in the water. We will definitely visit again soon.
