Deer Point Resort, often known as Deer Point RV and Marina, has a long-standing presence in the Lobelville community, with some visitors recalling experiences dating back to the 1980s. This history speaks to its past as a well-regarded spot for lakeside recreation. However, like many businesses, it has recently undergone a significant change: new ownership. This transition brings both potential for revitalization and, as is sometimes the case, initial adjustments and challenges. For Tennessee locals considering a visit, understanding this current phase of development is key to setting appropriate expectations for their stay. The essence of a resort like Deer Point lies in its promise of a comfortable and convenient base from which to enjoy the natural beauty of the Tennessee River.

The demand for RV parks and marinas remains strong across Tennessee, as more individuals and families embrace the freedom and flexibility of RV travel and boating. These establishments offer vital access to the state's recreational waters, providing essential services like RV sites and boat moorage. Deer Point Resort aims to continue serving this need, offering its scenic riverfront location for campers and boaters. While recent changes may present some operational adjustments, the fundamental appeal of a resort nestled on the Tennessee River remains. It provides a unique opportunity to experience the quiet charm of Lobelville while enjoying direct access to one of the most significant waterways in the southeastern United States.

The success of any recreational resort often hinges on its ability to adapt and maintain guest satisfaction through transitions. It's a place with a history, now embarking on a new chapter. As we delve into the specifics of Deer Point Resort, we'll highlight the features and services that are generally expected from such a property, while also acknowledging the publicly available feedback to provide a factual and balanced perspective. Location and Accessibility

Deer Point Resort is situated at 109 Deer Pointe Drive, Lobelville, TN 37097, USA. This address places it directly on the banks of the Tennessee River, making it an ideal location for those seeking water-based recreation and scenic views. Lobelville itself is a small, quiet community in Perry County, Tennessee, known for its rural charm and access to natural attractions.

Accessibility to Deer Point Resort is generally manageable. Lobelville is connected to broader Tennessee via state highways, such as Highway 13. While the town itself is not a major urban center, these routes provide a reasonable pathway for RVs and vehicles traveling from various parts of the state. Deer Pointe Drive, being the specific access road to the resort, should be clearly marked and designed to accommodate incoming campers and boaters.

Being directly on the Tennessee River offers excellent accessibility for boating and fishing enthusiasts, as they can launch their vessels directly from the resort's marina facilities. The location's primary appeal is its tranquil, riverside setting, providing a peaceful retreat away from more crowded tourist areas. While specific road conditions leading directly to the resort aren't detailed in the provided information, the general access through state highways to Lobelville and then local roads to the resort is typical for such a secluded, natural destination in rural Tennessee. This blend of remote charm and reasonable connectivity makes Deer Point Resort an accessible choice for Tennessee locals seeking a serene riverfront experience.

Services Offered

  • RV Sites: Deer Point Resort offers RV sites, catering to recreational vehicle owners. The availability of specific hookups (electric, water, sewer) is a standard expectation for an RV resort, although recent customer feedback suggests potential issues with the septic system.
  • Marina Facilities: As "Deer Point RV and Marina," the resort historically provides marina services. This would typically include boat slips for moorage and potentially a boat ramp for launching vessels onto the Tennessee River.
  • Dumping Station: While one review mentions the septic system "no longer works" and guests "have to purchase a dump tank, dump in that and take it to a dumping station," this suggests a current operational challenge, but also indicates that a designated dumping station for tanks is available for use. This implies the core service of waste disposal is still managed, albeit with an interim step.
  • Long-Term Stays (Implied): The review from a long-time visitor (since 1983) suggests the resort has traditionally accommodated long-term or seasonal stays, which is common for many RV parks and marinas.
  • Quiet Atmosphere: The location in Lobelville along the river inherently suggests a quiet and peaceful atmosphere, which is a key "service" for those seeking relaxation.
  • Management/Ownership Interaction: While recent experiences indicate communication challenges, the very nature of an RV resort implies a management presence for check-in, maintenance, and guest assistance.
  • Lawn Maintenance: As per the review, there is ongoing lawn maintenance, though a recent incident points to potential issues with safety practices during this service.

Features / Highlights

  • Riverside Location: A major highlight is its direct location on the Tennessee River, offering scenic views and immediate access to water recreation.
  • Marina Access: Being an RV and Marina resort means direct access to boating and fishing opportunities on the vast Tennessee River.
  • Long-Standing History: The resort has a long history, with visitors attending since 1983, indicating its past reputation as a favored destination.
  • Potential for Quiet Retreat: Located in a less bustling area, it offers the potential for a peaceful and relaxing getaway from urban noise.
  • Scenic Surroundings: The natural beauty of the Tennessee River valley provides a picturesque backdrop for camping and outdoor activities.
  • Opportunity for Renovation/Improvement: Under new ownership, there is potential for future upgrades and improvements, which could enhance the overall guest experience.
  • Fishing Opportunities: The Tennessee River is well-known for its excellent fishing, offering ample chances for anglers right from the resort or nearby waters.

I have been going to Deer Point RV and Marina since 1983. I have never had damage to my RV or know anyone that has. It was really nice till recently. New Owners brought it. I have approx. 5K in damages due to rocks being thrown from a lawn mower. I have tried to contact the owners but the management has not given me the information. A prior employee who no longer works there told us he was one of the owners. He also confirmed as did my insurance inspector that the damage was from rocks. Septic system no longer works. You have to purchase a dump tank, dump in that and take it to a dumping station.
