Delaware Campground About
For many of us Hoosiers, camping isn't just a seasonal activity; it's a way of life, a cherished tradition that brings families and friends together year after year. Delaware Campground, nestled in the scenic landscapes of Milan, Indiana, embodies this spirit perfectly. It’s more than just a place to park your RV or pitch a tent; it’s a vibrant, welcoming community where generations have made "lifetime friends" and shared countless "fond memories," making it a true home away from home right here in the Hoosier State.
Delaware Campground has cultivated a unique atmosphere that appeals particularly to those seeking a consistent and communal outdoor experience. While it welcomes transient campers, its strong base of permanent and seasonal residents truly defines its character. This blend creates a stable, friendly environment where new visitors are often welcomed into a broader network of fellow outdoor enthusiasts. As locals, we appreciate finding such established and beloved spots that resonate with our values of community and enduring relationships.
The glowing reviews from long-time campers, some celebrating 16 years of consistent visits and having "raised all our grandkids here," speak volumes about the campground's enduring appeal. It's a place where "all holidays are shared with friends" and "activities are posted on the board so you are always aware of what is happening." While the campground might not offer all the high-tech amenities of a modern resort, its focus on spacious sites, cleanliness, and a vibrant social calendar makes it exceptionally appealing for those who prioritize genuine connection and a relaxed pace. Let's delve into the specifics that make Delaware Campground a suitable and appealing choice for local Indiana residents seeking their next great outdoor adventure or even a permanent camping retreat.
Location and Accessibility
Delaware Campground is conveniently located at 4258 N Co Rd 150 E, Milan, IN 47031, USA. This address places it in the charming town of Milan, situated in Ripley County, Indiana. For those of us living in the southern and central parts of Indiana, this location offers excellent accessibility for weekend trips or extended stays.
Milan is approximately an hour's drive from Indianapolis and about 45 minutes to an hour from Cincinnati, Ohio, making it an ideal central point for many Hoosier families. The campground's position off State Road 48 provides straightforward access, connecting easily to major highways like I-74, which runs between Indianapolis and Cincinnati. This means less time spent on the road and more time enjoying your camping experience. However, a crucial tip from experienced campers is to rely on phone directions rather than older RV or car GPS systems, as the latter might lead to less suitable roads for larger vehicles. This local insight ensures a smooth and stress-free arrival, allowing campers to focus on the tranquility that awaits them. The rural setting offers a peaceful escape, yet Milan provides convenient access to local shops, gas stations, and essential services.

Features / Highlights

- Proximity to Indiana Attractions: While a peaceful retreat, the campground is within reasonable driving distance of various Indiana attractions, including historical sites, state parks, and local dining experiences in nearby towns.
- Well-Maintained Grounds: The mention of clean bathrooms implies a general commitment to the upkeep of the campground facilities and common areas.
Promotions or Special Offers
Delaware Campground, given its strong emphasis on permanent and seasonal sites, may not typically advertise "promotions" in the same way as a large commercial transient campground. Their value proposition often lies in the long-term community benefits and stable pricing for regular campers. However, specific offers or rates might be available through direct inquiry:
- Seasonal Site Availability: Prospective campers interested in a long-term spot should inquire about current availability and the rates for seasonal or annual leases, which often provide better value than nightly rates over an extended period.
- New Resident Incentives: Occasionally, campgrounds looking to fill vacant permanent sites might offer small incentives for new long-term residents, such as a discount on the first month's lot rent or waiving certain initial fees, though this is not publicly confirmed for Delaware Campground.
- Early Bird Booking for Seasonal Stays: Some campgrounds might offer a small discount for booking and paying for seasonal sites far in advance of the camping season.
Since specific public information on promotions is not readily available, the most reliable way to learn about any current offers, seasonal rates, or long-term site availability is to directly contact Delaware Campground by phone. Their friendly staff can provide the most accurate and up-to-date information for local Hoosiers looking to make this campground their regular outdoor home.

Customer Reviews
We have camped here 16 years. We have a permanent spot. As they say at wedding "til death do us part." Raised all our grand kids here. We also have made lifetime friends. All holidays are shared with friends. Activities are posted on the board so you are always aware of what is happening.
This campground is very nice. There is a lot of space between the sites. The bathrooms are clean. There is no wifi but we didn't mind. One thing ng is to get here, use the directions from your phone and not the GPS in your RV or car. We found out the hard way that it took us the wrong way and you most definitely don't want to be on those roads with an RV.
The campground is like a big playground for adults. I have met some really good people here and have had some really good times. The price is what pushed us out they keep raising the price of their sites. Fishing is not good. The owner it's very stern and sometimes outright hateful. I think she is tired of running it after so many years. If it was about the fellow campers I would be giving it a higher star but this is about the campground itself.
Great quiet place. Shower house was wonderful! Check in lady was very friendly. Would definitely recommend this place!!
Best well kept campground I've ever been to. Owners are wonderful people..
