Customer Reviews
We just enjoyed a few days camping and going to the Red Power Roundup. Scott who manages the campground is WONDERFUL. He was always making sure we had everything we needed. Super friendly and helpful. The weather and water didn't make his life easy this week. But if you see him at the campgrounds in the evening or helping at the fairgrounds. He was smiling and joking. Showers and bathrooms are nice and clean. Thank you, Scott
A hidden gem, this is not a fancy RV Park but a great place to stop while traveling. We spent two nights. The camp is located between the Spencer City Park and the park maintenance shops. Our timing was lucky and we walked to the park and found a children's fair and at dusk a family theater performance. All the regular RV parks were full, thought we might end up in Walmart, but this was near by and available. Cost was about $14 a night for water and electricity, dump by the shops, showers free. 8/2018.
We stayed here to be close to Iowa Lakes Community College. Wasn't too impressed when we first arrived but my opinion changed over our 4 day stay. The facilities were clean and Val, who runs things and lives on site, is very nice and helpful. The tornado siren sounded during our stay and she rounded everyone up and directed us to the storm shelter - onsite - and made sure everyone was OK and safe. Was it luxury? No. Would I stay again? Yes. For 15$ a night for water, electric, dump and 4pm checkout it was ideal. Huge play park within walking distance and if you turn left out of the campground there is a water park - just carry on down the road and you will come to it. Downside - trains!!!
Great place to be close to all the awesome things to do in Spencer, Iowa. Right on the river, walking distance from the fun aquatic center, big playground, beatiful art, skate park, museum & downtown, and incredible biking/walking trails. Great spot if you're attending events at the #ClayCountyFair Grounds because it's a short drive away, AND you have super shopping options less than a mile South (fast easy and quality coffee/drink drive-thru hut at South Jnct Hwy 18 & 71 😉 in same parking lot as the must-see Many Hands Market). Even if you live in Spencer like we do, we've made this a fun kids birthday party camping trip because of its location and no worry of a messy house. Ha! I would rate this a 5 star if I didn't like camping further away from all the action. This spot is perfect for convenience, amenities, and in the best small town ever! Pics taken on the trail heading east from camp ground towards the bridge which leads to the fantastic hiking & picnic area of Oneonta Park. We grabbed a spot here for a quick trip to town for the weekend. Beyond happy with our stay. The host, I didn't get his name, but WOW. So incredibly friendly. Very helpful and made everything super easy. Gave us some tips and pointed out some events in town that we didn't know about it. Sites have electric and water (didn't remember seeing the water advertised. We stayed up top. I don't remember looking at the rest of the place but I know up top it is just a grass yard so there isn't gravel/paved sites. But it was very level so wasn't much of a challenge getting set up. Location is very easy to get in and out of but it runs parallel to a neighborhood so it can be loud at times.
