Flambeau Lodge and Campground About
For Wisconsin locals yearning for a true escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life, Flambeau Lodge and Campground in Ladysmith offers an unparalleled opportunity to disconnect and immerse oneself in the beauty of the Northwoods. In an increasingly connected world, finding a place where cell service fades and the sounds of nature take over is a rare and precious commodity. Flambeau Lodge and Campground embraces this ethos, providing a genuine "off the grid" experience that allows visitors to truly "disconnect from the digital world and connect with nature!"
Located on the scenic Flambeau River, this destination is more than just a place to set up camp; it's a gateway to authentic Wisconsin outdoor adventures. Whether you're a seasoned camper, an avid angler, or simply looking for a peaceful retreat, the natural beauty surrounding Flambeau Lodge and Campground promises a memorable stay. The charm of "back woods Wisconsin" is palpable here, with beautiful scenery at every turn and the calming presence of the river.
While some modern conveniences might be intentionally limited – for instance, the welcome absence of cell reception on the back roads leading to the lodge – this intentional disconnection is precisely what many Wisconsin residents seek. It’s an invitation to embrace simplicity, enjoy genuine conversations around a campfire, and truly appreciate the abundant natural resources that our state offers. From the unique cabins to the various camping options, Flambeau Lodge and Campground aims to provide a rustic yet comfortable base for your next outdoor adventure in Rusk County.
Flambeau Lodge and Campground is nestled at N7870 Flambeau Rd, Ladysmith, WI 54848, USA. This address places it within Rusk County, a region of Wisconsin celebrated for its vast forests, numerous waterways, and abundant outdoor recreational opportunities. While the address is in Ladysmith, the location is described as being "off the beaten path" and accessed via "back roads," which contributes to its secluded and natural charm.
The defining feature of its location is its direct proximity to the Flambeau River. This prime waterfront access is a significant draw for campers and lodge guests, offering immediate opportunities for fishing, paddling, and enjoying riverside views. Ladysmith, while a small city, provides essential services and amenities for campers. However, given the "back roads" description, visitors should anticipate a few miles of travel from the main routes to reach the campground.
A key characteristic of the area, and a deliberate feature for many visitors, is the limited to no cell phone reception. This means that while GPS navigation will guide you to the general area, campers should print maps or download offline directions before embarking on their journey. This intentional lack of connectivity further enhances the "off-grid" experience, encouraging full immersion in nature. Despite its somewhat remote feel, the accessibility to the Flambeau River and the surrounding forested terrain makes Flambeau Lodge and Campground an ideal base for experiencing the true Northwoods of Wisconsin.

-
Rustic Charm with Essential Amenities: While offering an "off the beaten path" experience, the campground still provides essential amenities such as various camping sites (including 20/30/50 amp electrical hookups), primitive tent sites, and cozy cabins. Clean bathrooms and showers are also available, ensuring a comfortable stay.
-
On-site Bar & Grill: The presence of a Bar & Grill on the property offers a convenient social hub. Guests can relax, enjoy refreshments, and soak in the "Old World True Northwoods atmosphere" without leaving the campground. This adds a unique social element to the camping experience.

Publicly available information for Flambeau Lodge and Campground does not detail specific, ongoing promotions or special offers. Like many unique, privately-owned establishments in more secluded areas of Wisconsin, Flambeau Lodge and Campground may manage their offers directly or on a seasonal basis.
However, it is common for such destinations to have various arrangements or discounts that are not widely advertised online. These could include:
-
Seasonal Rates: Lower rates during the shoulder seasons (spring or fall) compared to peak summer. Since it's a "back woods" destination, these times might offer a quieter experience at a potentially reduced cost.
-
Extended Stay Discounts: Reduced per-night rates for weekly or longer bookings for campsites or cabins.
-
Package Deals: Combinations of lodging/camping with canoe rentals or shuttle services, especially for those interested in river adventures.
-
Group Rates: Special pricing for larger groups or family reunions utilizing multiple sites or cabins.
Given the reported change in ownership (as noted in one review from 2019) and the mention of "new owners," it's particularly important for prospective visitors to contact the campground directly to inquire about their current pricing, availability, and any promotions that may be running. A direct phone call is the most reliable way to get the most accurate and up-to-date information on any special offers before planning your visit.

Customer Reviews
Bring your own pots/pans from home if you want to cook in the cabin, the ones provided are not in great shape or plentiful. Same goes for cups and whatnot! Super helpful owner, very responsive. Really nice guy, always joking around/trying to get a laugh from ya. Right on/close to the river, beautiful scenery everywhere. If you are partial to internet, this is not the place for you. No cell reception down those back roads, thank goodness!!!! :)
Camped here with the family over Memorial day weekend 2018. If you are looking for something off the beaten path, this is it! No cell phone reception but who cares! The view of the river was great. Not all the electrical hook ups worked but we didn't care. The bar had water that we could fill up our campers with and a dumping station. This is what back woods Wisconsin is about! Get ready to go off the grid when you get here. Disconnect from the digital world and connect with nature! 2019 Update: New Owners. Loud music from bar at all hours of the night. A lot less family friendly this year.
Stopped in for their Friday night fish fry and it was yummy. Two big pieces of fish and homemade fries. I had a couple of bourbons, the glasses were clean and the ice was cold. Best yet the price was right. If you are up in the Flambeau Forest I would recommend to stop in for their fish fry.
In 2019 my family and I took a camping trip to Ladysmith Wisconsin and one of the spots we stopped at was the Flambeau LodgeCampground. While visiting we weren't very impressed because both owner's were drunk the whole weekend. They didn't take care of anything or even seem to care. All they wanted to do is drink and party. Not to mention they didn't have any amenities available and no assigned camping spots or anything. In my opinion I would not recommend this place to others.
Beautiful views, good food friendly atmosphere. The multitude of Humming birds are amazing to watch. Owner / bartender should maybe drink a little less. Ok, the place is sold again...... another guy with great ideas and ambition with a passion for drinking. I really hope he can accomplish what he has in mind. The food was good, with good prices. The menu is very limited, as are the alcohol choices. The staff seems friendly enough but needs more training/guidance to bring them up to par with the nearby competition down river.
