Historic Camp Meeting Tradition: Fountain Campground is primarily known for its annual camp meeting, a continuous outdoor religious service that has been a fixture of Georgia's religious life since the early 1800s. This tradition involves a focus on worship, sermons, and spiritual reflection.
Permanent "Tents" (Cabins): Unlike typical campgrounds, Fountain Campground features unique, permanent wooden cabins known as "tents." These structures house attendees during the encampment and are often owned by individual families, passed down through generations, fostering a deep sense of heritage and continuity.
Central Arbor/Tabernacle: A large, open tabernacle or "arbor" serves as the central gathering point for services, covering preachers and worshipers. These arbors are significant architectural forms in Southern campgrounds.
Basic Amenities: While embracing a "back to basics" approach, the campground provides essential amenities. Electricity has been brought to the site, and nearby bathrooms and showers are available to ensure the comfort of congregants.
Community Focus: The emphasis at Fountain Campground is strongly on good people and good fellowship. The structure of the camp meeting encourages communal living and shared experiences, reinforcing bonds within the community.
Family-Friendly Environment: The campground is suitable for all ages, with the atmosphere being family-friendly. It is a place where young and old gather, creating a multigenerational experience.
Historic Significance (Established 1822): Fountain Campground is one of Georgia's earliest camp meeting grounds and has been thriving for almost 200 years. This historical depth offers a unique cultural and spiritual experience.
Traditional "Back to Nature" Setting: The campground maintains a country setting, providing a "back to nature" experience that encourages reflection and a break from modern distractions. The site selection historically considered the availability of water sources and shade trees, which remain integral to its ambiance.
Generational Connection: For many attendees, visiting Fountain Campground is a lifelong tradition. Reviews indicate that it's a place where individuals return year after year, often across multiple generations of the same family, fostering a powerful sense of heritage and belonging.
Unique Architecture: The distinctive permanent "tents" and the large central arbor are unique architectural features that set Fountain Campground apart from conventional campgrounds, reflecting a historical style of religious gathering.
Spiritual Renewal: The primary highlight for many is the spiritual aspect—a dedicated time for celebrating faith, attending continuous religious services, and communing with God in a natural, communal environment.
Peaceful and Reflective Atmosphere: Beyond the religious services, the campground offers a place of rest and relaxation, where attendees can reflect on the past, appreciate the present, and enjoy a slower pace of life.
Given the nature of Fountain Campground as a historic religious retreat, particularly known for its annual camp meeting, it operates differently from a commercial campground. Therefore, you typically won't find conventional "promotions" or "special offers" in the way a recreational RV park might offer discounts for extended stays or seasonal bookings.
The "offer" at Fountain Campground is the unique opportunity to participate in a historic religious tradition and experience communal spiritual life. Access to the grounds and participation in the annual camp meeting are generally based on community and historical practice rather than commercial rates. Any specific fees associated with attending or occupying a "tent" would be managed by the self-perpetuating board of trustees or individual tent owners.
For the most accurate and up-to-date information regarding the annual camp meeting schedule, visitor guidelines, or any participation details, it is best to directly contact the managing body of Fountain Campground or refer to local religious community announcements. The value here lies not in a discounted price, but in the priceless experience of stepping into a living piece of Georgia's religious and cultural history.
While a direct phone number for a central reservation desk or general inquiries for Fountain Campground specifically may not be publicly advertised in the same way as a commercial campground, information can often be obtained through local historical societies, church organizations associated with the camp meeting tradition, or through community resources in Warren County.

This is a religious retreat held once a year in a country setting, back to nature, and back to the basics since 1822. Good people, good fellowship, celebrating our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
