Gooseberry Falls State Park itself is often hailed as the "Gateway to the North Shore," and for good reason. Its dramatic landscape, shaped by ancient lava flows and glacial movements, presents a truly remarkable setting. The park is renowned for its five impressive waterfalls—Upper, Middle, and Lower Falls being the most prominent—which cascade through a picturesque river gorge before emptying into the vast expanse of Lake Superior. The group camp site offers a unique vantage point, allowing campers to immerse themselves in this natural symphony, often hearing the calming rhythm of the waves or the distant rumble of the falls from their very own site.
The Gooseberry Falls State Park Group Campsite is ideally situated in Two Harbors, MN 55616, USA. Its location directly off Highway 61, the scenic North Shore Scenic Drive, makes it incredibly accessible for those traveling from various parts of Minnesota and beyond. Despite its ease of access, the campsite feels wonderfully secluded, offering a true escape into nature. The convenience of being located within a state park means you're just a short walk away from the main attractions, including the famous falls, the visitor center, and the scenic Lake Superior shoreline.
Accessibility is a key consideration at Gooseberry Falls State Park. Paved pathways provide easy access to the main waterfalls and the visitor center, making it a welcoming destination for individuals with mobility challenges. The park strives to be inclusive, ensuring that many of its natural wonders can be enjoyed by a wide range of visitors. While the group campsites themselves are designed for tent camping and may offer a more rustic experience, the park as a whole maintains facilities that cater to various needs.
The Gooseberry Falls State Park Group Campsite offers a range of services designed to enhance your camping experience, focusing on essential amenities that support an immersive outdoor adventure.
Gooseberry Falls State Park, and by extension its group campsite, boasts a multitude of features and highlights that draw visitors from across the region.
As a state park group campsite, specific "promotions or special offers" are not typically advertised in the same way as private campgrounds. However, the value of a state park experience often lies in its affordable access to well-maintained natural spaces and facilities. Reservations for state park campsites, including group sites, are often available up to a year in advance, which can be a form of "promotion" for those who plan ahead, especially during peak seasons.
To ensure the best experience and secure your preferred dates, especially if your group is planning a trip during the peak season (May-June is often recommended by previous visitors as a prime time for camping), making reservations well in advance is highly recommended. While the park itself doesn't offer discounts in the traditional sense, visitors with a Minnesota State Parks vehicle permit (annual or daily) gain access to all Minnesota State Parks, which provides excellent value for frequent visitors.

Love the spacious campsites. You can hear the waves crashing on the rocks of Lake Superior at times from your campsite.
Apr 12, 2022 · Dawn RodeBreathtaking during the fall. If coming at the later months please bring more protective clothing if possible as it gets quite cold at night. The falls are a very short walk from the campsite, and depending how far away you are from the falls, you can even hear the roar from afar- relaxing if you ask me. I’d say peak time to visit / camp would be around may-june.

Oct 07, 2020 · Meredith ParkerWas at the group camp. Overall great experience however it was a cart in campsite. There was a group that kept all the carts and never returned them. We asked the park to look into it but they never did.
