Introduction / Overview
For Pennsylvania residents seeking an accessible, expansive, and amenity-rich outdoor experience, Green Lane Park—specifically its Deep Creek Campground—stands out as a premier destination in Montgomery County. Located in the picturesque northwestern region of the county, the park encompasses a massive 3,400 acres, offering a remarkable diversity of landscapes, from rolling hills and meadows to three distinct bodies of water, totaling 870 acres. The park's primary general camping facility, often referred to simply as the Green Lane Campground, is officially known as the Deep Creek Campground.
The Deep Creek Campground provides a more rustic, "primitive" camping experience, offering a straightforward basecamp for adventurers ready to immerse themselves in the park’s countless recreational opportunities. It is open seasonally from April 1st to October 30th and operates on a reservation-only basis to manage its capacity. The campground is designed for traditional family camping, offering tent sites and accommodations for small RVs, though it notably lacks the extensive utility hookups of modern RV parks.
Visitors consistently praise the park's natural beauty and its suitability for various active pursuits, with one reviewer noting it as an "Excellent park. Good for hiking, biking or gatherings." It is a true four-season park, allowing visitors to transition from summer boating and hiking to winter activities like cross-country skiing and ice skating (when conditions permit). While the park generally adheres to state fishing regulations, a customer review highlighted a specific policy concern regarding magnet fishing, illustrating the park’s commitment to maintaining specific environmental standards on its waterways, even if they occasionally diverge from general fishing rules.
Location and Accessibility
Green Lane Park is conveniently situated in the upper part of Montgomery County, making it a highly accessible retreat for residents across Southeastern and Central Pennsylvania. The main entrance and the Deep Creek Campground are located near the park’s main office.
The campground’s address, 2098 Snyder Rd, Perkiomenville, PA 18074, USA, places campers in a quiet, rural setting while still being easily reachable via major regional roadways. This location is key to its appeal as a local getaway; it’s far enough from the urban sprawl to offer a genuine escape but close enough for a quick weekend trip from Philadelphia, Allentown, or the surrounding suburbs.
Within the massive park, the campground is specifically located near the Deep Creek Lake area. This strategic placement gives campers easy access to both water-based recreation and the extensive 25 miles of multi-use trails that crisscross the park for hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding. The central location within the park ensures that once you are checked in, the entire 3,400-acre outdoor playground is just a short walk or drive away.
Services Offered
The Deep Creek Campground is a family-oriented facility that focuses on essential camping comfort while promoting a natural, primitive experience. It operates with simplicity and efficiency, prioritizing access to the park's main attractions.
Features / Highlights
The campground’s greatest highlights stem from its integration into the expansive Green Lane Park, offering a breadth of activities unmatched by smaller facilities.
Contact Information
The Green Lane Park office manages all aspects of the Deep Creek Campground, including reservations, facility inquiries, and park-wide regulations. All camping reservations must be made online or by phone, as the park no longer uses the former envelope self-check system.

Conclusion: Why this place is suitable for locals
Green Lane Park is fundamentally designed as a resource for the local Pennsylvania community. For Montgomery County residents and those in the surrounding areas, the Deep Creek Campground offers a vital, affordable, and easily accessible destination for disconnecting from busy life and reconnecting with nature. Its proximity allows for spontaneous weekend trips or short mid-week escapes without extensive travel time or fuel costs.
The park’s true value for locals lies in its sheer size and the variety of recreational options available year-round. Whether a family is looking to teach their children to fish in the reservoir, an avid hiker wants to tackle a section of the Perkiomen Trail, or a group simply needs a space for a gathering, Green Lane Park provides it all. I am changing my current rating because It was pretty disappointing to hear that there is no magnet fishing permitted here. Even though the website says that you only have to comply with normal fishing regulations. I don't get why its okay for people to fish there when they end up losing all sorts of things off their rod, further polluting the water. when we magnet fish, it cleans all that up, but we're not permitted to use them.... I am really hoping that the ranger was misinformed.
