Location and Accessibility

Green Pines Housing Community is situated at 112 Drum St, Como, NC 27818, USA. Como is a small, quiet town located in Hertford County, North Carolina, known for its rural charm and agricultural landscape. This location offers a peaceful living environment, away from the hustle and bustle of larger urban centers, making it ideal for those who prefer a slower pace of life and a strong connection to nature.

Despite its rural setting, Como and the surrounding areas maintain a degree of accessibility to essential services and amenities. Larger towns in the vicinity, such as Ahoskie (typically a 20-30 minute drive) and Murfreesboro (also within a similar driving distance), offer grocery stores, local dining options, and healthcare facilities. For more extensive shopping, medical services, or diverse cultural attractions, residents might travel to larger regional hubs like Elizabeth City or even the Hampton Roads area of Virginia, which are further but still within a manageable drive for occasional trips. The tranquility of Como provides a respite from traffic and noise, while the local roads connect easily to the main highways of Eastern North Carolina, ensuring residents can still reach necessary services and enjoy the broader offerings of the region.

Services Offered

While explicit, detailed lists of services are not publicly advertised for Green Pines Housing Community, the customer reviews provide significant insight into the nature of the support and living arrangements offered.

  • Mobile Home Lot Rentals: The core service is the provision of lots for mobile homes, allowing residents to either place their own mobile homes or rent existing ones on-site.
  • Responsive and Supportive Management: The standout service, as highlighted by a resident, is the exceptional interaction with "The lot owner and My Landlord." They are described as "amazing," answering every question, being "laid-back and kind," and truly wanting to help. This suggests a highly personalized and supportive management approach.
  • Acceptance of Children: The community is noted for being "accepting of children" and kind to them, indicating a family-friendly environment.
  • Assistance During Difficult Situations: One review profoundly states that the management is "making my life so much easier" and "changing it" for someone who had been in a "horrible situation," implying a willingness to work with residents facing challenges.
  • Community Environment (Implied): The desire to be "part of this community long term" suggests that the community fosters a sense of belonging among its residents.

It is important to acknowledge that another review presented a contrasting and highly concerning perspective, mentioning issues like "septic tanks backed up" and alleged threats from management. This suggests potential inconsistencies in service delivery or management practices that prospective residents should carefully investigate.

Features / Highlights

The features and highlights of Green Pines Housing Community, as gleaned from customer experiences, paint a picture of a place where personal connection and community spirit are paramount, though it is crucial to consider all perspectives.

  • Exceptional Landlord/Owner Relationship: The most prominent highlight, from one perspective, is the truly "amazing" and "family-like" relationship with the lot owner and landlord (Gerald, Jenn, and Craig). Their kindness, laid-back demeanor, and proactive helpfulness are deeply appreciated, creating a comfortable and supportive living environment.
  • Children-Friendly Environment: The community is praised for its acceptance and kindness towards children, making it a welcoming place for families. This is a significant feature for those with young ones.

  • Rural Tranquility: Located in Como, the community benefits from a peaceful, rural setting, offering a quiet lifestyle away from urban noise and congestion.

However, it is equally important to present counter-points as found in other reviews, which highlight significant concerns:

  • Safety Concerns: Allegations of "shooting on the regular" and people feeling their "lives are in danger" are serious safety concerns that would be a critical factor for any prospective resident.
  • Maintenance Issues and Threats: Claims of "septic tanks backed up" and threats of eviction for reporting issues to the health department indicate severe maintenance problems and an alleged hostile management response.
  • Lack of Owner Accessibility: The inability to "never hear from the owner himself" is a concern regarding direct communication and accountability.
  • Increased Fees and Scare Tactics: Reports of increased rent and fees, coupled with "scare tactics and legalities thrown in their face," suggest a potentially difficult and intimidating environment for residents.

Promotions or Special Offers

Publicly available information for Green Pines Housing Community does not explicitly list traditional "promotions" such as move-in discounts or seasonal specials. However, the profound positive review suggests a unique kind of "special offer" in the form of exceptional human connection and support from the management. For residents who have experienced difficult circumstances, the kindness, understanding, and willingness to help, as described by one tenant, represent an invaluable benefit that goes beyond monetary discounts. This level of empathetic engagement can be far more impactful than a temporary price reduction, as it fosters a stable and supportive living environment.

Given the conflicting nature of the reviews, it is impossible to definitively state consistent promotional practices. Prospective residents are strongly advised to contact Green Pines Housing Community directly to inquire about current lot rental rates, any available mobile homes for rent or purchase, and to discuss the specific terms and conditions of residency. This direct communication will be crucial for understanding the financial aspects and the community's policies.

For North Carolina locals seeking a mobile home park, Green Pines Housing Community in Como, NC, presents a complex yet potentially very suitable option, depending on individual priorities and direct experience with the current management.

The peaceful, rural setting of Como also appeals to those looking for a quieter lifestyle away from urban pressures.

However, it is absolutely critical for prospective residents to conduct thorough due diligence. The conflicting review, alleging serious safety concerns, maintenance neglect, and intimidating management tactics, presents a stark contrast. Therefore, while the potential for an incredibly supportive and family-oriented community exists, local users should prioritize visiting the property, speaking with current residents if possible, and engaging directly with the management (Gerald, Jenn, and Craig, if still involved) to verify the current conditions and management practices. If the positive experiences truly reflect the prevailing atmosphere, Green Pines Housing Community could be a deeply fulfilling and stable home for North Carolina locals who value personal connection and a supportive living environment above all else.

So far I have dealt with The lot owner and My Landlord and They have both been amazing! Answered every question I had. Dealt with my crazy little child the whole time they were very laid-back and kind. These are the kind of people you want to be around and you would feel comfortable around almost like family. I can’t wait to be part of this community long term. My daughter and my son felt very comfortable around there. They are excepting of children. They are kind to them. You could not ask for more. I am at a loss for words honestly and about how amazing these people have been to me in such a short amount of time. And I’m not just saying this to say it. I have been in a horrible situation for a long time and they are making my life so much easier I’m gonna say that they’re changing it. And they’re kind and want to help me. Thank you Gerald Jenn and Craig !!!!!!!!!!

These are the worst people to rent from or do business with. This place has shooting on the regular, people lives are in danger. Individuals have to deal with septic tanks backed up and threatened to be put out if they report it to the health department. You can never hear from the owner himself. The rent and other fees have increased. It's a sad situation. The people living out here are scared to speak up and out because they are constantly being threatened with scare tactics and legalities thrown in their face. It's ridiculous they have to go through this and I'm assuming it's because its a black community.
