For Mainers and visitors who appreciate the rugged, natural beauty of the Down East region, Greenlaw's RV Park and Campground offers a distinct and highly valued experience: quiet island camping. Located on the picturesque Deer Isle, this is more than just a place to park your RV or pitch a tent; it is a true coastal retreat designed for those who want to immerse themselves in nature, without the excessive crowds often found in more heavily trafficked areas. The campground prides itself on providing a peaceful, nature-focused atmosphere, deliberately forgoing common 'resort-style' amenities like swimming pools and playgrounds in favor of tranquility and genuine outdoor adventure.
Greenlaw's RV Park is situated on the island that is connected to the mainland by a bridge, offering the charm of island life with the convenience of road access. It serves as an excellent base for exploring the historic working harbor of Stonington—famous for its lobster fleet—and the numerous hiking and kayaking opportunities the area affords. As noted by one satisfied patron, the ownership is highly helpful and genuinely appreciates patronage, going the extra mile to guide visitors to the best local restaurants and outdoor activities. This commitment to a friendly, welcoming, and community-oriented experience sets Greenlaw's apart from larger, more impersonal camping operations. The focus here is on the natural surroundings, the local culture, and providing a clean, well-marked, and comfortable place to call home while you explore the beautiful Maine coast.
The park accommodates a range of camping styles, from those requiring full RV hookups to tenters seeking a primitive, wooded site. This versatility, combined with its unique island location, makes Greenlaw's RV Park and Campground a premier choice for Maine locals seeking an authentic and unhurried coastal experience away from the summer rush of hotspots like Bar Harbor. It is a place to enjoy 'awesome sunsets,' as one review mentioned, and connect with the quieter, more genuine side of Down East Maine.
Greenlaw's RV Park and Campground is perfectly located at 11 Greenlaw's Park Rd, Stonington, ME 04681, USA. Its geographic position on Deer Isle in Down East Maine is one of its most significant selling points. Deer Isle is connected to the mainland by the picturesque Deer Isle Bridge, making it fully accessible by vehicle. This means campers can easily drive their RVs or travel trailers directly to the park without relying on a ferry (unlike some smaller surrounding islands), while still enjoying the secluded feeling of island life.
The proximity to the town of Stonington is a major convenience. Stonington is a historic, active fishing port, and the campground offers easy access to its charming downtown, where visitors can find local dining, art galleries, boat tours, and—most importantly—fresh-off-the-boat Maine lobster.
Furthermore, Greenlaw’s location on Deer Isle provides a crucial, less-crowded alternative gateway to the Acadia region. While it is about an hour's drive to the main section of Acadia National Park on Mount Desert Island, the park is notably the location from which the mail boat departs for Isle au Haut—the quietest, most primitive section of Acadia National Park. This connection is a huge draw for local outdoor enthusiasts who know how to avoid the main-season crowds. For kayaking enthusiasts, the campground’s location provides direct access to the Stonington archipelago, an incredible network of sheltered coves and islands perfect for paddling. The combination of easy road access, proximity to a working harbor, and a quieter connection to Acadia makes this location exceptionally appealing to the knowledgeable Maine traveler.
Greenlaw's RV Park and Campground offers a careful selection of services designed to maximize comfort and convenience while preserving the park's focus on a quiet, natural experience. The services cater to both modern RVers and traditional tent campers:
Park 'n PaddleShuttle Service: A dedicated shuttle service is offered for kayakers to transport them and their gear to local launch points, with a fee per person each way, and overnight parking available, a feature that significantly enhances the local paddling experience.
The highlights of Greenlaw's RV Park and Campground center around its unique coastal position, its community-focused management, and its specific design philosophy:

Greenlaw's RV Park and Campground is perfectly suited for Maine locals and those who live the Maine lifestyle. The park provides an authentic, high-quality Down East experience that caters to the local preference for tranquility and access to genuine outdoor recreation over commercialized entertainment.
Its location on Deer Isle offers a strategic advantage, serving as a peaceful island retreat that is conveniently accessible by road, yet feels worlds away from the tourist congestion of peak-season Mount Desert Island. For the experienced Maine camper, Greenlaw’s is the ideal launchpad for kayaking the Stonington archipelago, hiking the nature preserves of Deer Isle, and, crucially, accessing the Isle au Haut section of Acadia National Park—the 'secret' Acadia that locals appreciate for its rugged, uncrowded trails.
The park's focus on essential, high-quality amenities—like full hookups, clean facilities, and the unique Park 'n Paddle
service—demonstrates an understanding of what true outdoor enthusiasts need. Coupled with the genuine, helpful management praised by customers, Greenlaw's offers a truly relaxing and rewarding escape. It is a place where you can enjoy the stunning Maine coastline, the freshest lobster, and amazing starry nights, all within a quiet, friendly community setting, making it the superior choice for a local Maine coastal getaway.

Troy the owner was so helpful and genuinely appreciated our patronage. Helped us find the great restaurants in town and helped guide us in outdoor activities. The campsite is clean and well-Marked for visitors. The area is absolutely beautiful with the coves and fishing vessels. A must go place!
Aug 26, 2025 · john payneFantastic campground on Deer Isle, a beautiful, less-crowded island near Acadia NP. We spent 3 weeks here enjoying kayaking, boat tours, hiking, golf , beaches with no crowds, and awesome sunsets.
Sep 12, 2025 · Scott GibsonI love this place ❤️. Where do I start? I guess from the very beginning! Reservations were very simple. You pay a small fee to hold your site. It’s set up like a hotel for reservations. You pull into the campground. To the right you will see a building straight ahead. There’s a phone number on the building. You will most likely talk to Troy. He runs the campground/owner. He’s a very polite, informative owner. He will explain how the campground works. What does the park look like you ask? It’s simply lovely! If you like beautiful trees, campfires 🔥 birds singing in the morning with a very clean bath house you should experience this campground. We were in site P it had electric and water. It could be for a tent or camper. It was a nice site, close to the bath house. This place is my new zen retreat! Greenlaw I’m hooked! You will see me every year!
Jul 19, 2025 · K NThe hosts are super responsive. They reached out to us knowing that we had two large tents and let us know about a bigger site that became available which was super helpful. They also handled a loud camper very quickly and tactfully. Definitely recommend
Jul 06, 2025 · Mike SalladeSuper happy to have camped here. Very convenient location for our multi-stage trip around Stonington and Acadia National Park (Isle au Haut and Mount Desert Isle). Tony and Monica were very accommodating and flexible... allowed us several last minute schedule changes and even upgraded our site without an upcharge since they had a better site available. Laundry and showers were easy access and clean and very much needed after our many days of sea kayaking and backpacking.
