Customer Reviews
Staff, staff, staff! Had an amazing easter weekend with Hilltop. A great easter egg hunt for kids and the facilities were perfect. Bathrooms were some of the cleanest I've seen. 1 mile away from a waterfall pond! Thanks Hilltop!
We where looking for something different than our normal campsites for the Holiday weekend. So we found this one. The campground is small but very well kept! It is close to the interstate so there is some road noise but nothing unbearable. It is close to Fern Clyfe State Park. Goreville doesn't have much but enough. I think this campground could offer a lot more if the owner wanted to put a little more money at it! A pool would be nice (even though it was to cold to swim Memorial Day weekend) but I would take some nice concrete pads over a pool! They could also put in a Dog park for us who travel with dogs! But It is a good over night camp ground! They had a bad Saturday night which was nice to listen too. They didn't play to late! The camp hoist where AWESOME! We will probably go back!
We all know people with a bad experience are the first to post a review. You have to make a real impression on someone to get a 5 star review . Currently on our second night staying at Hilltop. The host has been so personable and accommodating to us and our kids, so much so they provided an Easter egg hunt for all kiddos (a first from what I hear, memories were made). Technicals : Shower house amazingly clean water was hot and a ton of water pressure Onsite laundry Site is level! Gravel, full hookups! Looks like most are pull through 50amp and 30am hookup on our box Water quality seems great. A few full timers but we definitely felt immediately accepted. Onsite playground area and covered pavilion. Definitely would recommend. We came to experience the Shawnee national forest.
Great place. Lots are clean and level, include fire ring and nice picnic bench, owner is very friendly and accommodating. Free firewood, and great access to the natural wonders of Illinois. Bork Falls just 5 minutes away is great. 4/5 because of proximity to highway, so it is inevitably noisy, and no Wi-Fi.
Great little campground right off the highway!! Stayed for one night… $35 and free firewood. Bath house was spotless and had a slight bleach smell which I liked. Ron was so accommodating and very friendly long term folks!! Would highly recommend
