Customer Reviews
I visited while the water levels were high. One of the bald eagles was actively hunting over the river right in front of the dam! This area is beautiful, but not very rugged. More ideal for a nature walk.
Beautiful time of year to go is right now. No fee to enter park. Just a nice place to walk. If you go to the parking area with cut down half stump look across river. You can often see the eagles sitting around their nest.
Primitive camp sites. Picnic tables and grills. There is a pavillion where you could also eat. A few spots with good hammock trees. We saw several people fishing. If you just want to walk on the trail, park at the sign and walk all the way back to where the pavement ends and you will see a stone trail. The dam is at the beginning of the park. It was very peaceful. Several people just sitting by the dam, enjoying the surroundings.
This place is amazing, if you want to camp they only charge $20 a night. Their is a trail where you can walk all the way to Florida ohio it's beautiful, and well kept. They have plenty of markers , so you know how far you have walked.
A nice little camp ground by the Maumee River in a narrow wooded stretch along the bank. My biggest negatives are that there is a road pretty close to the campground that is a little loud and also several loud trains in the distance that you can hear day and night. Some of the camp sites are pretty close together too. The foliage is very nice though and well shaded for the most part. There is a nice wooded 3 mile dirt trail that parallels the river by the campground that we saw a few foxes and raccoons on. The river is mostly obscured by trees and bushes though on the trail and in the campground. Some camp sites do have direct river access though.
