Introduction / Overview
Keyser Pond Campground, nestled in the charming town of Henniker, New Hampshire, stands as a well-established and popular destination for both weekend visitors and seasonal campers across the Granite State. This private campground offers a blend of classic New England nature with modern, family-focused amenities. Located directly on the shores of Keyser Pond, the facility provides various ways to enjoy the outdoors, from traditional tent camping beneath mature trees to full-service RV sites and comfortable cabin rentals.
Known for its community-centric atmosphere, Keyser Pond Campground is designed to foster a fun and interactive environment, especially for families. It hosts a full calendar of activities, including themed weekends, and maintains a welcoming stance toward pets, recognizing the importance of the entire family being able to enjoy a vacation. For New Hampshire locals seeking a reliable and engaging home-base for outdoor adventures in the Merrimack Valley region, Keyser Pond offers a comprehensive, activity-packed camping experience.
However, prospective visitors should be aware of the campground's structure. As with many popular private parks, there is a mix of transient and seasonal sites, with some campers noting that sites can be closely packed. The campground operates with specific rules, including a requirement for all registered guests and visitors to wear a wristband, a measure implemented for property security and managing visitor access. Some sites, particularly those closest to the main road, may experience traffic noise from the nearby Route 202, which is an important consideration for those prioritizing a fully tranquil, isolated experience.
Location and Accessibility
Keyser Pond Campground boasts a highly accessible location in Central New Hampshire, making it a convenient escape from the state’s urban areas without sacrificing the feeling of a natural retreat. Its address places it firmly in Henniker, a town often recognized as "The Only Henniker on Earth," known for its picturesque New England village feel and the home of New England College.
Address: 1739 Old Concord Rd, Henniker, NH 03242, USA
The campground is strategically positioned a short distance from major routes, specifically near Routes 9 and 202, allowing for easy navigation from Concord and other points east. This proximity to the main roads, while contributing to accessibility, is the source of the occasional traffic noise noted by some patrons. On the upside, this placement means that local conveniences are never far away, including a walkable spot for coffee and quick access to local shopping and attractions in nearby Henniker and Contoocook. The easy drive makes it an ideal spot for quick weekend trips for locals who don't want to spend half their vacation in the car.

Keyser Pond Campground is a highly suitable choice for New Hampshire residents, particularly those with RVs or families looking for an all-in-one recreational escape close to the Central NH corridor. Its greatest strength for the local user base is the robust sense of community, evident in the frequent organized activities and the friendly, accommodating staff, as highlighted by multiple positive customer reviews. The flexibility in site types—from full hookup RV spots to rental units—ensures that it can meet varied local needs, whether for a quick weekend getaway or a full seasonal commitment.
The campground’s proximity to Concord and its own extensive on-site features, including two beaches, fishing, and a full recreational hall, mean that visitors rarely need to leave the property to find entertainment. While some aspects, such as the wristband policy and the road noise near certain sites, may require adjustment, the overall offering is one of convenience, comprehensive amenities, and a highly active, welcoming atmosphere—making Keyser Pond a reliable and familiar choice for creating long-lasting New Hampshire family memories.

First time going here. Absolutely Amazing!!! Staff was all so nice and very welcoming. All the other campers were so friendly. I recommend 100%. I know I will be going back again. The staff changed our original sight because we got a smaller one to a larger sight to accommodate my family. My kids even said they want to move there because they loved it so much.
May 27, 2025 · Amanda HollenbachStayed here for 3 nights, wouldn't return. The traffic noise from 202 is quite disturbing, especially when you camp to enjoy sounds of nature. The sites are very small and on top of each other, I couldn't imagine booking one along the highway side as we booked on the pond and could still hear excessive road noise. The absolute worst part of this place is the wrist band rule. We didn't wear ours...I'm not showering, sleeping, swimming, tanning with a wrist band on. This is a campground, not a night club. I gave an extra star for dog friendliness, although dogs aren't allowed in the pond. They do allow dogs in the camp store and in the game room which is really nice! There were also multiple very nice employees driving around on golf carts giving out dog treats. Definitely wouldn't recommend staying here if you're looking for a peaceful and enjoyable camping experience.
Aug 25, 2025 · ToriOur site had a beautiful view of the pond. It was nice to view it in the morning upon waking up. The campground was well maintained, with that being said, it's very tight. No privacy between sites. It's like camping with a very close neighbor. Trees and greenery are absent between sites. We had our dogs with us, and finding an appropriate potty site was difficult as the sites lack grassy areas as well. Traffic from route 202? was also very prevalent throughout our stay, it's a very busy route and runs alongside the campground.
Aug 11, 2025 · Sherri RomanoI have mixed feelings about the campground. We are full-timers with a lot of young children, and have been to quite a lot of RV parks. This one was very mid. I was skeptical going in based on the reviews, but I’m glad we tried it out. We have considered moving to NH in the past so it was fun to check out the area at a reasonable price. The people outside of the campground were so friendly. That’s why I was surprised how unfriendly the staff seemed to be. I work full time and had someone bang on my door mid-day to tell me we couldn’t have fires (we did not have one going nor had we had one previously) and was not the most friendly about it either… There has to be a more effective way to spread communication (aka text messages). Every small conversation had with staff was just a bit rough and not necessarily friendly. Most of the campground seems to be permanent residents and they weren’t really up for socializing with others. I get it, no judgement. I just wouldn’t come back if we are ever in the area. We would probably prefer a more family-friendly location for our next NH stay. Overall it was OK and we did enjoy the Granite State and being close to Boston. We were in site 1, and I would recommend finding another site if you have the option. As for some of the negative reviews about road noise, there definitely is road noise, but that’s the price you pay for convenience of location. We didn’t really hear it too much at night and it didn’t bother any of us.
Aug 24, 2025 · Jason EasleyThis is our second time staying at Keyser pond. We booked last year and while we enjoyed our stay, this year was even better. The campground, while small, offers nice wooded sites, clean bathrooms, friendly staff ( the owner helped us back our camper into a tricky site) and a quiet , low key, no frills atmosphere. This place isn’t fancy. It’s not one of those resort style places, but we were not looking for that. The pond / beach area was clean, and perfect for our three year old to swim and play. They had a great little office store stocked with essentials. They had a new playground structure and offered food trucks for something to eat if we wanted. I’d say the only negative was the highway noise, but obviously, something like that is beyond their control, and it wasn’t even that bad. We loved our site, which was right on the water. It offered views of the beautiful sunset!! We will be back.
