Introduction / Overview
For New Hampshire residents seeking an annual, easily accessible retreat that feels like a second home, Rock'n'birch Campground in Henniker offers a unique and highly cherished solution. This is not a short-term camping destination; it is a seasonal haven, beloved by many who return year after year—some since the early 1990s—creating a true "extended family" atmosphere. The campground is open for a generous six-month season, typically from May 1st through October 31st, allowing locals to maximize their enjoyment of the warmer months in the heart of the Granite State.
Owned and operated by Ray and his family, including his wife Debbie, the campground is known for its profoundly friendly and welcoming environment. The commitment here is personal; Ray, as the owner, is deeply involved, bringing his own family out for fun and ensuring that every guest is treated with respect. As one single female traveler noted, the community is exceptionally safe, with everyone willing to lend a helping hand. This dedication to community and kindness is a major draw, creating a peaceful, quiet, and friendly space where laughter is a daily occurrence. Rock'n'birch Campground is a vibrant, all-ages resort property designed for relaxation, family fun, and genuine connection, set against the picturesque backdrop of Upper Pond.
Location and Accessibility
Rock'n'birch Campground is conveniently located in the charming town of Henniker, NH, a picturesque area known for its natural beauty and easy access to major New Hampshire hubs. The official address is 382 Ray Rd, Henniker, NH 03242, USA. This location is particularly advantageous for central and southern New Hampshire residents, as it is only about a 20-minute drive southwest of Concord, making it a perfectly situated local retreat. It is also within a reasonable driving distance of Manchester and other key areas.
The setting itself is enveloped by a forested landscape, providing a serene and natural environment that is characteristic of classic New Hampshire outdoor living. However, a crucial piece of local knowledge for those navigating to the campground is related to the address. Conclusion: Why this place is suitable for locals
Rock'n'birch Campground is perfectly tailored for New Hampshire locals who value stability, community, and an extended outdoor season without the commitment of a second traditional home. Its suitability is rooted in its seasonal model, which allows residents to effectively own a summer 'cabin' or park their RV for six full months, transforming a typical weekend getaway into a sustainable, long-term summer lifestyle. The relatively short commute—just 20 minutes from Concord—means that commuting to work during the week while the family enjoys the pond is entirely feasible.
The most significant draw for local residents, however, is the unrivaled community atmosphere. This campground functions as an established, friendly local village where neighbors look out for one another and new friends are easily made, cementing its status as an "extended family." With the owners, Ray and his family, leading with genuine warmth and personal care, locals can be assured of a safe, respectful, and fun environment. Choosing Rock'n'birch means investing in six months of laughter, lake access, and a powerful sense of belonging, all within a short, scenic drive from your primary New Hampshire residence.

I've been conning here sense 1993 and have enjoyed it. there are many camps owned by people that camp here year after year. You meet new people here and there over the years. It's like an extended family. I have had no issues over the years with campers there as well as meeting new friends. my kids who are adults now. now bring their children here to enjoy what they did as youngsters
Jul 06, 2019 · Greg PeckFriendly, pretty and made for everyone of all ages. From boating and swimming in the small lake to karaoke and grill nights, volleyball and just hang out times, this place is where you want to spend your summers. Open 6 months of the year, it is the perfect place to put a small cabin or trailer and just be. It's quiet, there are trails for hiking and 4-wheeling and everyone seems friendly and nice. And, ladies, as a single woman that loves to travel alone, this place is SAFE and the men treat you like a sister or friend of their mother's: respectfully and always willing to lend a hand or show you how to do something. Ray, the owner, brings his own family out for fun and it's not about money for him- though every penny helps him keep this place going. He loves people and his grandkids love hanging out as much as his kids. One of the many things I count on already is laughter. I have not had a day yet when I have run into someone and kept a straight face. It's just not that kind of place; everyone there loves catching up, even with strangers like me. Anyway, chickens, lambs, chipmunks, owls, frogs, porcupine and a whole lot of creatures hang out here so I suggest trash goes quickly into the dump. Worth the pretty drive. It's about 20min from Concord, heading southwest. Note: the address is 382 Ray Rd Henniker NH 03242, but if you are using GPS, use the following address, which takes you directly to the front entrance: 14 Ray Rd, Henniker NH 03242. This is the original address before they changed all the addresses. While an edit has been submitted -and approved- by Google, the change has not occurred yet.
May 26, 2021 · Nicole Starr Bauman, CNI GlobalLove being there. Everyone's friendly. Ray & Debbie always greet you with a smile. Karaoke every Saturday night is a treat in itself. I find it really cool how everyone can get together and pitch in for a cookout. They make a dish and help out. It's like the campground is one huge family. Theirs alot to do like going out to see the goats and the birds. There's the beach, the bathhouse that has a swingset, there's a pavilion with cable to watch TV on and wifi. There's friendly people everywhere. Ray knows how to run the campground. There's no doubt about it. Love the campground.
Jun 20, 2015 · CaseyBelieve InSethRollinsIt's a quiet, little campground with a clean pond, satellite TV, handy to all the area's attractions and mostly seasonal camps. It has been improving consistently for the last 2 years.
