As King Campground is a facility within the South Dakota State Park system (serving Palisades State Park), it operates under the standard fee structure and discount programs managed by South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks (GFP). Unlike private commercial campgrounds, state parks typically do not offer frequent, short-term promotional discounts. However, they do provide established annual passes and specific discounts that can offer significant savings for eligible visitors:
South Dakota State Park Entrance License: While not a direct campground discount, a valid South Dakota State Park Entrance License (required for vehicle entry into most state parks, including Palisades) provides access to the park’s day-use facilities. An annual pass (usually $36) can be a cost-effective option for locals planning multiple visits to any state park within a year, compared to daily passes ($8).
Veterans and Disabled Discounts: South Dakota offers reduced fees or free entrance/camping for eligible veterans and individuals with disabilities. Specific criteria apply, and documentation is usually required. It’s always best to check the official GFP website for the most current details on these programs.
Youth and Education Programs: While not a direct discount, state parks often host educational programs, events, and sometimes offer specific youth rates for group camping or activities. Check the Palisades State Park calendar for any upcoming events.
For the most accurate and up-to-date information on camping fees, booking policies, and any potential discount programs, it is always recommended to visit the official South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks website (gfp.sd.gov) or call the park directly. Reservations are typically made through the state park's online reservation system.

Customer Reviews
Beautiful campsite. The down side: it's so new the toilets listed on the map aren't even built yet! We picked a site close to a toilet, but found out it didnt exist upon arrival! Good side: If you don't mind a walk, the shower house/toilets are very nice! The tent sites have lots of space and are quite/away from RV sites. The sunset view was also a plus!!
Nice new campground that is great for star viewing at beautiful palasades.
