**Introduction / Overview: A Place with Potential in Pennsylvania Dutch Country**
Kutztown Campground New Dutch, located in the scenic and culturally rich landscape of Kutztown, Pennsylvania, offers a unique opportunity for local residents to experience rustic camping in the heart of Berks County. Situated near the core of the famous Pennsylvania Dutch Country, this campground is positioned as a simple, no-frills option for travelers seeking proximity to local events and attractions. The history of the campground suggests a dedicated effort by local ownership to keep the operation running, even amidst challenges, showcasing a commitment that reflects the resilient spirit of the area.
This destination is not generally characterized as a modern "RV resort" with extensive, manicured amenities. Instead, it seems to embrace a more traditional, casual, and sometimes less-polished camping environment. Current customer feedback, while limited in recent years, indicates that the overall condition and maintenance of the site can vary. For new and returning guests, this means it is highly recommended to reach out directly to the management before committing to a stay, especially if a specific level of facility modernity or upkeep is required. However, the campground's appeal lies in its down-to-earth atmosphere and its ability to serve as a convenient parking spot for a camper or tent during visits to the area’s celebrated festivals and unique events, such as a local bike swap that has been hosted there.
**Location and Accessibility: Near the Heart of Kutztown and Local Culture**

The campground sits comfortably off the major routes, offering a quiet, rural setting that is still only minutes away from the bustle of Kutztown University and the numerous historical and agricultural sites that dot the countryside. This proximity is particularly valuable during the summer months when the nearby Kutztown Folk Festival draws massive crowds, as this campground provides a localized option for overnight stays. Additionally, its position allows for convenient day trips to regional attractions like Cabela's in Hamburg or the natural wonder of Crystal Cave, both within a short drive. The location on Saucony Road provides a peaceful contrast to the tourist-heavy destinations of nearby Lancaster County, offering a more local, authentic Pennsylvania Dutch experience.

Oct 25, 2020 · Richard KKeep in mind, this review is being written in 2016 and we were there in 2014. That being said...this place is a dump. Literally. Unkempt and in desperate need of everything. The story we got was that the owner had become disabled and the guy/family that was in charge of the place was just keeping it going. (I guess) They were very friendly folks and tried their best to be accommodating. He (I don't recall names) spoke with a thick Pa. Dutch accent, which made it difficult to understand him, even though I had spent 20 years in south central Pa. Turns out he was in the demolition field, which explained all the crap/junk that looked as if it came from demolition sites. We ended up staying, since we figured it was just a place to park the camper and sleep for two nights. Hopefully it has been cleaned up since we were there. It looked like the campground could have a lot of potential. I would do some investigation as to the condition of this place before committing.
