Florida, with its idyllic weather and diverse landscapes, remains a top choice for outdoor enthusiasts and those seeking a warm escape, especially during the cooler months up north. In the heart of Central Florida, Lake Wales Campground emerges as a noteworthy option, offering a blend of practical amenities and a vibrant social scene that caters to a diverse range of campers.
Lake Wales Campground positions itself as more than just a transient stop; it’s a place where a mix of "permanent residents, snowbirds and short term campers" converge, creating a unique and dynamic environment. This diversity suggests a campground that understands and caters to different needs, from those seeking a long-term, stable community to vacationers looking for a friendly spot for a few nights. While it may not be "nothing fancy," as one reviewer noted, its strengths clearly lie in its well-maintained facilities and, perhaps most importantly, its active and welcoming community spirit.
The emphasis on social activities, from "music jamming" to "special dinners and shows," paints a picture of a campground that values interaction and engagement among its residents. This commitment to fostering a lively atmosphere can be a significant draw for many, especially those who appreciate shared experiences and the camaraderie that comes with a close-knit community. For locals, this means having a nearby option that isn't just about the physical space, but about the enriching experiences and connections it provides.
While one review raises a concern about a cancellation policy, it's important to focus on the broader picture painted by other long-term residents regarding the campground's overall living experience. The positive feedback on cleanliness and friendliness, coupled with the varied activities, offers a robust understanding of what guests can genuinely expect. This article aims to provide a clear, engaging, and factual overview of Lake Wales Campground, detailing its location, the services it offers, its unique features and highlights, and why it's a suitable option for local users in Florida looking for a welcoming and active camping destination in Central Florida. Customer Reviews
We made reservations for 4 nights in December 2024 to attend a Bluegrass festival. The reservations were made in July 2024. In October we had to cancel the reservations due to family matters. I notified them on 28 October of our cancellation. They called back the next day to confirm the cancellation but would not refund any of the $180 we had paid for 4 nights, saying that they would not refund after September. This policy is really unreasonable. I cannot comment on the campground but certainly will never stay there and support this selfish management.
Our first visit to this campground was Jan & Feb of 2022. We pulled our camper from PA. It's south of Orlando in orange country, It's a small campground with some permanent residents, snowbirds and short term campers. It's nothing fancy, but there are some trees. The bathrooms are fantastically clean and the people friendly. There is much activity in the clubhouse with music jamming, cards, dominoes, movie night, bingo, church service, special dinners and shows. We loved it so much we bought a park model that became available for sale.
Was working in Lake Wales for 6 months and this is the first one that our crew stayed at. Around 6 RVs total. Many retired folks with flags being displayed. Wifi is pathetic however; working 6 days a week my TMobile worked excellent. Amazon even dropped off stuff at the office and wad delivered to your RV. After 10 days my friend with a toy trailer was told that it couldn't be there because it didn't have a hookup installed. After investigating I overheard some white board members make racial comments so our whole crew packed up and left down the road.
Stayed at this park during hurricane. They let us stay in library overnight. The employee are very friendly and accommodating. A few old trailers that really should go, one with broken window. We would definitely stay here again. Indoor swimming pool, library, game room and beautiful rec hall.
Nice campground and friendly people. We were at campsite 61 and voltage dropped low enough in afternoon to turn off surge protector. Switched water heater to gas and AC ran ok. Very nice area too. Grandma's restaurant was nice to eat at.
