Based on the publicly available information and typical business models for local resorts and bars in the Wisconsin Northwoods, Lincolnwood Resort & Bar is less likely to feature highly publicized, continuously running "promotions" in the same vein as larger hotel chains. Instead, their "special offers" might manifest in more localized and seasonal ways, if at all. These could potentially include: specific daily specials on food or drinks at the bar, particularly during off-peak seasons or on certain days of the week to attract local patronage; potential discounts for extended stays in their lodging units, encouraging longer vacations; or perhaps special events tied to local happenings, holidays, or fishing/hunting seasons that might offer package deals. For Wisconsin residents, Lincolnwood Resort & Bar offers a particular appeal rooted in its quintessential Northwoods location and the type of relaxed, unpretentious atmosphere often sought after in local getaways. Its suitability for locals comes from several angles, making it a convenient and familiar choice for a spontaneous weekend trip or a planned longer stay.
Firstly, the address itself, nestled in Birchwood, Wisconsin, immediately signals a retreat into the state’s beloved lakeland and forest regions. For anyone living in Wisconsin, the Northwoods represents an escape – a place where the pace slows down, and natural beauty takes center stage. Lincolnwood’s lakeside position means that the core appeal of Wisconsin’s outdoor lifestyle, particularly fishing and boating, is right at the doorstep. This accessibility to water-based recreation without extensive travel makes it a practical choice for those looking to maximize their leisure time.
Secondly, the combination of a "resort" and "bar" on one property caters to a common desire among local travelers: convenience and a social hub. While the provided reviews highlight some inconsistencies with the food and bar service, the very presence of an on-site dining and drinking establishment means that guests don't necessarily have to venture out for every meal or evening entertainment. This integrated setup allows for a more relaxed vacation flow, where a day spent on the lake can seamlessly transition into an evening at the resort's bar, fostering a sense of community and ease. The "fun place" description, despite criticisms, suggests a lively atmosphere that many locals appreciate in their casual gathering spots.
Finally, Lincolnwood Resort & Bar offers a local, community-centric experience rather than a generic tourist trap. For Wisconsin residents, supporting local businesses is often a priority, and places like Lincolnwood embody that spirit. It's the kind of establishment that feels familiar and rooted in the regional culture. While reviews might indicate areas for improvement in certain operational aspects, the fundamental appeal lies in its promise of a genuine Northwoods resort experience. It serves as a comfortable home base for exploring the vast outdoor playground of Washburn County, whether it’s for a fishing trip, a quiet weekend by the water, or simply a place to unwind and enjoy the unique charm of rural Wisconsin. It provides a taste of the authentic Wisconsin vacation, making it a relevant and appealing option for anyone looking for a nearby escape.
Customer Reviews
Food was bad, under-poured "double" drinks, and slow/poor service. 5 people in our group, first 2 ordered the broiled fish, next person a pizza, and the last 2 fried fish. The pizza came out first and wasn't fancy, but they said it was ok. Next came one of the broiled fish about 5 minutes later. After another 5 or so minutes the 2 fried fish came out. After another 5 or so minutes the manager (as we later learned) asked the 2nd person in our group if they weren't eating since they had no food. He stated that it hadn't come out yet. She walked away appearing like she was going to check on it. She never came back to update him. Later as the 4 of us were now finishing our meals, the bartender who took our order asked how everything was, we still had 1 person who hadn't gotten his food yet. Of course when she went to check on it it magically was just finally ready, but at that point he declined the meal as the rest of us were done eating. Why did the food come out at all different times when we ordered together? Why didn't the 2 broiled fish at least come out at the same time? It was not super busy when we were there as it was probably 730 when we arrived. I had the fried fish with garlic mashed potatoes. The fish was very over cooked, so was quite dry and chewy. The garlic mashed potatoes had a ton of butter, but zero garlic flavor. They had told us they ran out of coleslaw, but said there was some we could help ourselves with at the salad bar. I didn't bother since the rest of the food sucked and I couldn't imagine that would have saved the crappy $17 meal. Bartender was short pouring "doubles," as she was pouring a 3-count for them, but we found we still got charged for doubles. We later ordered the same drinks at 2 other nearby places and got 2x more alcohol for about the same price we paid here. She also would ask us if we wanted another drink, then not get them for us, returning later asking what we wanted like we hadn't already ordered from her. As a whole, this place is an absolute disaster as a restaurant and bar. I was here 3 years ago and service and food were both good. What happened?
Fun place. Food ordering and quality can be challenging if busy.
I have been a patron of Lincolnwood for the past 10 years. Over this time, I have experienced consistently high standards with their food, service, and atmosphere. For the first time in 10 years, these standards fell short. Recently, I visited Lincolnwood with my best friend and our significant others. Our waitress/bartender almost seemed bothered that she had to tend to us and preferred to stay behind the bar. She checked on us maybe once during our stay. My best friend and I each ordered a Long Lake Tea. The Long Lake Tea has been a staple cocktail at Lincolnwood for years. The drinks we received were weak and not up to standard. My significant other ordered the Blackberry Mule. It lacked any flavor of blackberry or vodka, and only tasted of Sprite, which is not in a traditional Moscow Mule. We had originally ordered bone-in chicken wings with sweet chili sauce, the big pretzel, and the mac & cheese bites. The chicken wings have always been a significant highlight of our time at Lincolnwood, dare to say some of the best that we have ever tasted. We substituted for the Southwest Eggrolls after learning they were out of mac & cheese bites. The chicken wings were cold in the middle, not tossed in the sweet chili sauce as requested, and the eggrolls were overpriced for the quality of the product that we received. Another party of four next to us received the same level of attention that we did from the waitress/bartender. The new owners of Lincolnwood have been putting in a great amount of effort to update the interior, exterior, and campsites at Lincolnwood. But if these new changes come at the expense of quality food, drinks, and service, I can safely say that I will not be returning any time in the near future.
Good food. Server was getting her butt kicked with customers and service was a bit long-in-the-tooth, but not her fault. Really nice place on the lake, though.
Have been coming here since mid 1980's. The cabins and grounds have been continuously improved over the years. The management has always been nice and accomodating. We come here for fishing the lake and recharging from our hectic home life. New stairs to / from boat docks are a huge improvement.
