Our aim is to provide a clear, engaging, and informative overview of Little Meadows Campground, highlighting its unique appeal and how it caters to the needs of local users. We'll explore its picturesque location, the diverse services and accommodations it provides, its standout features that enhance the camping experience, and why it has become a cherished spot for many Marylanders. While some campers might find the roads a bit rustic or note a prevalence of permanent residents, the undeniable beauty of the lake, the quiet atmosphere, and the range of activities contribute to its consistent appeal.

Visitors consistently praise Little Meadows Campground for its natural beauty, with one remarking, "It is very beautiful, 100 acres of pond." The peaceful atmosphere is frequently noted as "Very quiet," making it ideal for relaxation, despite an occasional barking dog – a minor, common issue in any campground. The opportunity for "some fishing" on the pond is a highlight, even if fish are released. Campers appreciate the "Very reasonable price" and the convenience of being "very close to the bathroom, and dump stations" when staying on specific sites. While a few larger RV owners have noted challenges with "mud and gravel" roads and tight maneuvering, particularly for "big rigs," the campground is recognized for its significant number of "permanent residents" who contribute to a settled and often "beautiful" community atmosphere. The presence of a welcoming lake and the option for peaceful stays are key takeaways from camper experiences.

Features / Highlights

Little Meadows Campground distinguishes itself with several key features and highlights that contribute to its appeal as a cherished destination for Maryland locals.

  • 100-Acre Private Lake with Fishing: The centerpiece of the campground is its "very beautiful, 100 acres of pond" (lake). This sizable body of water is "stocked with a variety of fish," making it a prime spot for anglers of all ages. The option to rent boats (kayak, canoe, rowboat) or bring your own electric motor boat further enhances the lakeside experience.
  • Peaceful & Quiet Atmosphere: Many reviews emphasize the tranquility of the campground, often described as "Very quiet." This serenity, despite the presence of other campers, provides a genuine escape for those seeking relaxation in nature.
  • Long-Term & Permanent Resident Community: A significant portion of the campground consists of "95% permanent residents," and many sites are "owned." This fosters a strong sense of community and stability, with "beautiful" owned sites adding to the well-kept appearance. For locals looking for a seasonal or long-term camping "home," this is a major draw.
  • Beautiful Natural Setting: Built in 1966, the campground is set amidst a "beautiful place for the community to gather to spend time with loved ones and to enjoy nature." It serves as a "sanctuary for a variety of other wildlife as well, including bald eagles, bobcats, and bears," offering opportunities for nature observation.
  • Family-Owned & Operated Since 1966: The campground's long history as a "Family Owned and Operated" establishment since 1966 speaks to its dedication and consistent vision of providing a welcoming outdoor space. This heritage often translates to a more personal and caring approach to guest services.
  • Outdoor Activities Beyond Camping: Beyond just a place to stay, Little Meadows offers a range of activities. Besides fishing, there are "miles of hiking trails," and opportunities for "swimming" in the lake (though one older review noted a "brown residual stain," recent information on their website explicitly states "Swim in Beautiful Little Meadows Lake" and "swimming" as an activity). The presence of "pavilion and gazebos" facilitates gatherings and events.
  • Pet-Friendly, Including Horses: Not only is it "Pet Friendly" for dogs, but it's uniquely welcoming to "your horse enjoy camping in the great outdoors!" with "scenic forest trails" available for riding.
  • Flexible Rates: The availability of "nightly, weekly, and yearly rates" provides flexibility for various types of stays, accommodating short vacationers and seasonal campers alike.

These highlights collectively paint a picture of Little Meadows Campground as a peaceful, amenity-rich, and community-oriented destination, particularly appealing to Marylanders looking for a consistent and welcoming outdoor retreat.

Promotions or Special Offers

Little Meadows Campground, as a private, family-owned establishment, typically offers value through its flexible pricing and comprehensive amenities rather than broad, short-term "promotions" often seen at larger chain campgrounds. However, based on available information, certain aspects can be considered ongoing benefits or special offers for guests.

  • Flexible Nightly, Weekly, and Yearly Rates: The campground explicitly offers "nightly, weekly, and yearly rates." This flexibility is a significant advantage, particularly for Marylanders looking for extended stays or even a seasonal "home away from home," as evidenced by the high percentage of "permanent residents." Inquiring directly about yearly rates would reveal the potential savings for long-term commitment.
  • Reasonable Pricing: One review highlights the "Very reasonable price" for a stay, indicating that the overall cost-to-value proposition is strong for the amenities and beautiful setting offered. RV sites (full hookup) have been cited around $35 USD per night in recent reviews, which is competitive for private campgrounds.
  • Children & Group Events: While not a direct "promotion," the presence of facilities like pavilions and gazebos, along with the pet-friendly policy and activities like fishing, makes it highly suitable for family and group gatherings. The ability to host large events or parties within the campground can be considered a valuable offering.
  • Fishing Pass Options: Instead of requiring a Maryland fishing license, Little Meadows offers "reasonable fishing fees or purchase a yearly fishing pass" for their stocked lake. This can be a cost-effective and convenient option for local anglers who plan to fish regularly at the campground without needing a state license.

For the most accurate and up-to-date information on rates, availability, and any potential specific offers, especially for seasonal or long-term stays, Marylanders are highly encouraged to contact Little Meadows Campground directly. Their friendly staff and owners are the best source for personalized information.

It is very beautiful, 100 acres of pond, we did some fishing, but released them back. Very quiet, except for someone's dog barking a good bit of the night. I guess you can't have everything. Lol there are some sites that people own, that are beautiful. We stayed on site 1 which was very close to the bathroom, and dump stations. Very reasonable price

We camp with another couple and we both have 40' 5th Wheels. We were explicit in explaining our rigs and made sure that they knew what we had. The roads are mud and gravel. There is no way 2 big rigs will fit in the campground. I had to back up over 100' to get out of this place. Horrible! Oh, and this campground is 95% permanent residents.
