Visitors consistently praise Little Meadows Campground for its natural beauty, with one remarking, "It is very beautiful, 100 acres of pond." The peaceful atmosphere is frequently noted as "Very quiet," making it ideal for relaxation, despite an occasional barking dog – a minor, common issue in any campground. The opportunity for "some fishing" on the pond is a highlight, even if fish are released. Campers appreciate the "Very reasonable price" and the convenience of being "very close to the bathroom, and dump stations" when staying on specific sites. While a few larger RV owners have noted challenges with "mud and gravel" roads and tight maneuvering, particularly for "big rigs," the campground is recognized for its significant number of "permanent residents" who contribute to a settled and often "beautiful" community atmosphere. The presence of a welcoming lake and the option for peaceful stays are key takeaways from camper experiences.

For Marylanders, Little Meadows Campground in Grantsville stands out as a highly suitable and appealing destination for a multitude of reasons, making it an excellent choice for a local escape into nature. Its unique blend of amenities, natural beauty, and community focus caters directly to what many residents seek in an outdoor retreat.
Firstly, its location in Garrett County offers a convenient yet profound escape into Maryland's picturesque mountain region. The relative ease of access from major routes means less travel time and more time enjoying the serene environment of the campground. For families or individuals across Maryland, it provides a perfect antidote to city life, offering a tranquil setting without requiring an extensive journey.
The core of its suitability lies in the beautiful "100-acre lake." This central feature not only provides stunning scenery but also serves as a hub for relaxing activities like "fishing" (without needing a state license, a convenient benefit) and "boat rentals." For many Marylanders, access to a clean, well-maintained lake for leisure is a significant draw, making it a perfect spot for family fun or peaceful solitary moments.
The prevalence of "permanent residents" is a double-edged sword for some, but for many locals, it fosters a unique sense of community and stability. These "beautiful" owned sites contribute to a well-kept appearance and provide a consistent, welcoming atmosphere that can be very appealing for those looking for a recurring seasonal spot or a long-term camping home. This aspect creates a familiar and friendly environment that often enhances the camping experience.
Furthermore, Little Meadows Campground offers practical amenities like "water and electricity" hookups for RVs, "dump stations," and clean "bathrooms" and "showers," ensuring a comfortable stay. The availability of "cabins" provides an option for those who prefer not to tent or RV but still want to enjoy the campground's setting. Being "pet-friendly" is another key advantage, allowing Maryland families to bring their beloved animals, including horses, to enjoy the extensive "hiking trails."
In conclusion, Little Meadows Campground offers a well-rounded and deeply satisfying experience for Marylanders. It's a place where you can relax by a beautiful lake, enjoy fishing and gentle outdoor activities, and become part of a welcoming community, all within a reasonable driving distance. It embodies the essence of a peaceful, accessible, and family-oriented outdoor escape in the heart of Western Maryland.
It is very beautiful, 100 acres of pond, we did some fishing, but released them back. Very quiet, except for someone's dog barking a good bit of the night. I guess you can't have everything. Lol there are some sites that people own, that are beautiful. We stayed on site 1 which was very close to the bathroom, and dump stations. Very reasonable price
Aug 19, 2023 · Theresa ShiflettWe camp with another couple and we both have 40' 5th Wheels. We were explicit in explaining our rigs and made sure that they knew what we had. The roads are mud and gravel. There is no way 2 big rigs will fit in the campground. I had to back up over 100' to get out of this place. Horrible! Oh, and this campground is 95% permanent residents.
Apr 30, 2025 · Mike BFirst year at permanent site and my family couldn't be more pleased from the staff to the things to do around the lake and campground area. Every neighbor we have become friends with are extremely nice and helpful.
